Receivers ready to boost LSU Tigers

 by David Paschall

Until their collapse against Alabama in the BCS championship game, the LSU Tigers crafted a highly enjoyable 2011 college football season.
The Tigers went 13-0 using two quarterbacks, twice that many tailbacks and by getting defensive contributions everywhere from ends Sam Montgomery and Barkevious Mingo, who combined for 28.5 tackles for loss, to the cornerback combination of Morris Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu. Even the special teams sizzled, with punter Brad Wing averaging 44.4 yards a kick and Drew Alleman making 16 of 18 field-goal tries. Alabama

Put some pants on and buckle your belt because LSU will bounce back

Kevin Scarbinsky, Birmingham News By Kevin Scarbinsky, Birmingham News

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Put some pants on.

As with a lot of things Les Miles says, you can read a lot into those words.

Take it at face value, and it was the punch line to his cameo with Mike the Tiger in a TV commercial for EA Sports and its NCAA Football 13 game.

Peel back a layer, and it could be, probably should be the theme for the LSU football team as it gets ready to report for practice for the 2012 season

New playoff system may affect state bowl games' future

By Matt Murschel, Orlando Sentinel
Though a college-football-playoff system is a certainty in our future, what isn't so clear is just how that new postseason model will affect many of the bowl games here in the Sunshine State.
"I think all of us in Florida and everyone else around the country are trying to understand what comes next and what it looks like," said Steve Hogan, CEO of Florida Citrus Sports. The group manages the Capital One and Russell Athletic bowls in Orlando. Closer to kickoff

TigerGumbo: "When the big cat bites, sinking the tigers sharp teeth into the flesh and nerve ends of the opponents leg. Talking is one thing, pain from becoming eaten is something else. So the next time down the football field on the ensuing kickoff, a bunch of football players are going to start flinching away from being bit again and again. That will be the reality of playing this band of LSU fighting tigers football players this year, 2012."

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans.
Those of you who follow DandyDonLSU on Twitter learned late last night  that LSU has picked up its 3rd commitment for the class of 2014 in Devin Voorhies (6'2", 185, ATH) from Woodville, MS. Voorhies will be a junior this year at Wilkinson County High School in Woodville, MS where he played quarterback and safety last year. He is being recruited by LSU as an ATH (athlete). I think it says a lot about the success of the LSU football program to already have 21 commitments for the Class of 2013 and three for the Class of 2014 in July of 2012.
In just three days, Coach Miles and his staff are expected to welcome 105 players to preseason camp, and from what I've heard the only player from LSU’s 2012 signing class who turned out to be ineligible was Jeremy Liggins. Read more...http://www.dandydon.com/

New Orleans Saints

So Goodall stopped the saints head coach from coaching this years New Orleans football team from the side lines, all year long. Does the NFL commissioner really think that the head coach Sean Payton coaching spirit will not be there still increasing his players chances, where he can, encouraging his players to perform? Goodall also forced one of our hard hitting saints linebacker to be suspended from playing. Talking bad about us to the world, pointing his fingers putting the black hat of shame on top of our football teams head.

So now the Saints football season is pressing closer. The players that Goodall never stopped from playing, must go out on the 2012 pro football field and face the music by themselves. What will be the results from NFL commissioner Goodall punishment. Will the Louisiana and NFL football fans love them less. Has Goodall justice help the other NFL football teams into defeat them, getting the saints to keep loosing again and again very badly, because of Goodall punishment, helping to damage them further?

No one ever talked the other team into losing. If the saints big men hold them out, keeping the pass rush off of Drew Brees, away from him throwing. He'll put that football into their end zone and once again, ignite a fighting saints football team into battling their way back up. All the way back into another Super Bowl.

How will Goodall justice like those apples?

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans.

Next week LSU football news will really start to pick up as the Tigers report to camp on Wednesday and begin practice Thursday. The team will be divided into two groups for the first three practices, Thursday through Saturday, with the “varsity” players practicing at 9:25 each morning and the “freshmen and select veterans” practicing at 4:15 each afternoon. Sunday the team will hold its first full-squad practice at 9:20 a.m. From then until Friday, August 10, the team will practice every day except for Tuesday, August 7, which is Media Day. On Saturday, August 11, the Tigers will conduct a closed scrimmage at 11:05 a.m. before getting ready for Fan Day which will begin later that day at 3 p.m. I'm going to do my best to attend at least one practice per week, hopefully more, if my schedule allows, and I look forward to reporting what I see.

It's hard to believe that practice is right around the corner and that Game Day is only five weeks from today. Ever since baseball season ended over six weeks ago, it's been a challenge to find something interesting to write about each day. I'm glad that so many of you have been enjoying our jersey countdown to football season, but I know that some of you are getting anxious for something more, and I am too. We'll resume our jersey countdown today at No. 35, and we'll continue our player profiles all the way to Game Day, although they will take less and less precedence once news starts to emerge from football practice. The Olympic games and LSU athletes/something to watch as we get closer to reporting about the Fall American football practices.

Tinker Town: "The Olympic games has always been a very entertaining event for me. Ever since my Father first told me about Jim Thorpe achievements, back in the day ( was it the 20s ). I became a fan of track and field because of that story. Swimming, Fencing, Soccer, ect, was always a side bar to my real interest in the track and field events. Poll vault, Long Jump, Javelin, Shot put, Sprinting, the Mile, Hurdles, 100 yard dash, 200 yard dash, all them track and field events was my true focus when the summer Olympics games came around every 4 years.

Now we have ( Bolt ) running under 10 seconds, in the 100 yard dash. Back in my father time the 20s, 30s, 40s, we also saw a lot of very great track and field athletics.
LSU's Glenn "Slats" Harbin was a hero of the LSU tiger fans in my Fathers day. I of course pull very hard for the LSU athletes that make the Olympic game. When I see them."

If you hold them, I'll throw it into their end zone:

Tinker Town: "The Black and Gold darter thrower Drew Brees. Some people call him a rifleman, but I see him more of a Quarterback throwing darts into a small red bull eye. Over and over again. It is very clear by now that Drew Brees is going to move the New Orleans Saints offense down the football field for touchdowns.

I mean really, Brees topped Marino’s record of 5,084 yards with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Darren Sproles on Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.Brees entered the game with 4,780 yards, needing 305 to set the record. He has passed for 300 yards or more an NFL-record 12 times this season — with one game still to play.
Brees threatened Marino’s record once before in 2008, when he finished with 5,069 yards, making him and Marino the only quarterbacks to pass for 5,000 yards in a season...http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/drew-brees-breaks-dan-marinos-nfl-single-season-passing-record-in-win-over-falcons/2011/12/27/gIQANMK0KP_story.html
Are the New Orleans Saints going to make a lot of touchdown in this coming 2012 pro football season. You can bet your last dollar that they are. This Saints football team is more stable and now because of all the bad finger pointing calling them ugly names, and punishment. I am looking for a team on fire to strike a blow of their own. They can fan their guns in just about another month. I hope with a little luck, and some get back justice. The Drew Brees lead New Orleans Saints football team go all the way one more time."
