Make me look good lord: Sunday sermon

Tinker:

Do you really think that lord god is corrupt like us and do you really think that god would have anything to do with our American government and the way that they are running it?

I think that the lord god would never have anything what so ever to do with
sinful people like us or the people we know. Who selfishly keeps throwing away what little time that we the people do have living around each other with truly trashy behavior.

So just leave the lord god out of your selfish prayers hoping to be left off the hook for your sins. Frankly from what I'm able to learn after studying about what people do and say, I truly don't think that the lord god is paying any attention to people like us for at lease the past 2 000 years.

I mean really are you kidding me why would the lord god want to listen to us, knowing what we know about each other?
Just look at the gratitude that we showed our lord god by first displayed the writing that man was made in the likeness of god, only to live like god was instead made in the likeness of man, by man.

The first commandment of God is: I am the Lord thy God; thou shalt not have strange gods before Me.

Thou shalt not have strange Gods before me. Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth. (Exodus 20:3-4)

No I'm pretty sure that after god looked at how mankind truly was behaving he simply went on about his way, traveling somewhere else in this vast universe. This unholy mess that we live our daily life in is because of our sins along, and god has nothing to do with it at all.

So how in the world can you pray to god for forgiveness when the lord god himself flew the coupe a very long time ago. Because the people he created are not worthy enough to pray to god to begin with.

Even after Jesus Christ sacrifice his body and soul showing to the people gods spirit in the flesh, making the people clean from the original sin against god so mankind could then be forgiven. The people still have became unworthy because of the sins they keep committing.

How can anyone expect that their prayer to god should be listened to by the lord, knowing all along just how corrupted they are. First you would at least need to be honest enough to even attract the lord god attention to begin with, because I can assure you that the lord god is not corrupt like us
.

Repentant means penitent feeling or expressing remorse for misdeeds, who do you know that is truly like that. Faith means believing the unbelievable, like the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit;

Who do you know believes in this that God is a real personal being who therefore has feelings and emotions, just like us. Who do you know that really feels like that?

How can the unbeliever pray to the lord god for anything then, and why bother. Hypocrisy just simply veils the same corruption that mankind is infected with to begin with, before and after we the people pray to lord god. Who has long since went somewhere else, because the lord of course knows us. So then you must also know that the Lord god is not a hypocrite like us right?

Hiding people sins in plain sight only works here within this corrupt society on earth at this time, not in the greater cathedral of god's spirit.
Somehow though I still feel even after knowing all of that about each other. That some lucky person perhaps a child, mother, father, sister, brother, friend, or a pocket of people will magically believe in the touch of gods holy spirit. To begin to understand about the health that runs through them within the salvation of their soul. Becoming closer and closer to the lord god eternal light.

But sadly I also truly think after all I see and hear, that only a few people are lucky enough to be able to really save their own soul becoming a worthy enough person so the lord god can listen to them, and perhaps bless them.

I guess that a lot of people just like being crazy for some reason and never will try to believe in each others mortal soul.

This is how I imagine the 44th American president Barack Obama talking to the American news media yesterday. "Hold me up guys because I don't really have the ability to know what to do in trying to fix the United States economy problems. So just keep writing and reporting story's that keep me looking good all day long."

"Because the American people think that the news media is god anyway right, so just keep up the good work boys I still have three more years around here."

Snowden revelations stir up anti-US sentiment

By Geoff Dyer in Washington

Holed up in Moscow airport for the past three weeks, Edward Snowden has only had a limited impact on the political debate about surveillance in the US that he wanted to ignite.

Yet the self-confessed National Security Agency leaker has managed to orchestrate a very different political phenomenon: the biggest bout of anti-Americanism since the Iraq war.

THIS YEAR'S DUKE LACROSSE CASE

July 10, 2013

This week, instead of attacking a Hispanic senator, Marco Rubio, I will defend a Hispanic citizen, George Zimmerman, on trial for the murder of Trayvon Martin. (Zimmerman would make a better senator.)

It's becoming painfully obvious why no charges were brought against Zimmerman in this case -- until Al Sharpton got involved. All the eyewitness accounts, testimony, ballistics and forensics keep backing up Zimmerman. We should send a big, fat bill for the whole thing to Sharpton, courtesy of MSNBC.

With the prosecution's witnesses making the defense's case, the inquisitors' last stand is to claim that, if the races were reversed, the black guy would have been instantly charged with murder. As explained in The New York Times:

"Had Mr. Martin shot and killed Mr. Zimmerman under similar circumstances, black leaders say, the case would have barreled down a different path: Mr. Martin would have been quickly arrested by the Sanford Police Department and charged in the killing, without the benefit of the doubt." (Also, CNN could have dropped the "white" and referred to Zimmerman exclusively as "Hispanic.")

The people who say this are counting on the rest of us being too polite to mention that it is nearly impossible to imagine such a case in a world where half of all murders and a majority of robberies are committed by blacks. To reverse the races with the same set of facts, first, we're going to need a gated, mixed-race community, similar to the Retreat at Twin Lakes, that has recently experienced a rash of robberies by white guys. The only way to do that is to enter "The Twilight Zone."

There were at least eight burglaries in the 14 months before Zimmerman's encounter with Martin. Numerous media accounts admit that "most" of these were committed by black males. I'm waiting to hear about a single crime at Twin Lakes that was not committed by a black male. Read More »

Al Sharpton: George Zimmerman Verdict 'An Atrocity' (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 07/13/2013 10:02 pm EDT  |  Updated: 07/13/2013 11:59 pm EDT

Al Sharpton called George Zimmerman's acquittal in the killing of Trayvon Martin an "atrocity."

Zimmerman was found not guilty on Saturday night. Sharpton, who served as both pundit and as an ally of Martin's family throughout the case, condemned the verdict.

"I think that this is an atrocity," he said. "It is probably one of the worst situations that I have seen."

He continued:

"What this jury has done is establish a precedent that when you are young and fit a certain profile, you can be committing no crime ... and be killed and someone can claim self-defense ... we had to march to even get a trial and even at trial, when he's exposed over and over again as a liar, he is acquitted."
Sharpton also called it "a sad day in the country" and "a slap in the face to those that believe in justice in this country."

Others joined in Sharpton's outrage. Fellow MSNBC host Chris Hayes, for instance, was even more blunt:

PSU authorizes Sandusky settlements

PSU Authorizes Sandusky Settlements
The Penn State University board of trustees has agreed to settle with Jerry Sandusky victims.Tags: Penn State, Jerry Sandusky
UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Penn State could soon be paying out millions of dollars to victims of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky after disclosing Friday it had tentative agreements with some of the young men who say he sexually abused them.

The school does not plan to comment on specifics until the deals are made final, which could happen in the coming weeks. University president Rodney Erickson called getting approval for settlement offers "another important step toward the resolution of claims from Sandusky's victims."

Penn State Scandal

LSU Former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was found guilty on 45 of 48 counts in his child sex abuse trial. ESPN.com Topics has full coverage of the trial and the verdict. Topics Page »

"As we have previously said, the university intends to deal with these individuals in a fair and expeditious manner, with due regard to their privacy," Erickson said in a statement issued after the university's Board of Trustees approved a settlement resolution.

Sandusky, 69, was convicted a year ago of 45 counts of child sexual abuse, including violent attacks on boys inside school facilities. He is serving a 30- to 60-year prison term and maintains he was wrongfully convicted. He is pursuing appeals.

More than 30 claimants have come forward with sexual abuse allegations involving the longtime assistant to late coach Joe Paterno. The deals will be limited to a range of dollar values and subject to final approval by a committee empowered by the board to handle the claims. A university spokesman said the school plans to release the total amount it pays to settle lawsuit but will not provide amounts for individual cases.

Sandusky's arrest in November 2011 touched off a massive scandal that led to the dismissal of Paterno, then Division I football's winningest coach, along with criminal charges against other high-ranking school officials and ultimately NCAA sanctions that included stripping Paterno of 111 victories.

Board chairman Keith Masser said it was part of getting past the scandal and the collateral damage it has done to the university.

"We're just chipping away at getting these issues behind us," Masser said.

Legal experts say the "value" of a child sexual abuse claims depends on several factors, including the victim's age and the nature and frequency of the abuse. Many details about the Sandusky abuse claims have not been made public, but other molestation cases suggest Penn State may have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars, up to several million, to reach settlements.

Ira Lubert, the trustee who chairs the Committee on Legal and Compliance, told the board that "tentative settlements have been reached on a number of existing claims" without detailing how many have settled, how many remain and how much money -- individually or in the aggregate -- might be involved.

Lubert said his committee was empowered to authorize the settlements itself, but thought it was important that the trustees approved the move in a public meeting. The trustees voted unanimously to make the settlement offers.

The committee was briefed in detail on the proposed settlements during a June 25 executive session and another such meeting Friday morning, before the trustees met publicly at Penn State-Fayette, a satellite campus near Uniontown, about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh.

Harrisburg attorney Chuck Schmidt said his client was one who expects to finish a deal based on terms provided by the university over the past week. He said only confidentiality provisions remain to be ironed out.

"We have an offer, and we have, basically, an agreement with the client to accept the offer," Schmidt said.

Schmidt's client, who filed a lawsuit that has been on hold, was not among those who testified at Sandusky's trial.

The firm of Feinberg Rozen LLP has been helping the university reach the settlements. It brokered mass litigation settlements stemming from incidents as varied as the September 11 terrorist attacks to the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the Virginia Tech shooting massacre.

Friday marked one year since the release of a university-funded report about its handling of the Sandusky scandal that was highly critical of the actions by Paterno, former president Graham Spanier and former administrators Tim Curley and Gary Schultz.

Spanier, Curley and Schultz await a July 29 preliminary hearing on criminal charges over an alleged cover up of complaints about Sandusky. All three men deny the allegations.

Spanier remains a faculty member on leave, while athletic director Curley and vice president Schultz have retired. Paterno died last year of lung cancer.

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
The hot topic of discussion among Tiger Fans is LSU running back Jeremy Hill pleading guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge in connection with his now infamous fight outside of a Baton Rouge bar in mid-April. As most of you know, Hill was arrested after a witness provided authorities with a mobile phone video showing him striking a man from behind and then celebrating with another man who had followed with a punch of his own that dropped the victim. (That video has been released into the public record and you can see it here. But be forewarned, it contains some vulgar language.) In yesterday's arraignment, Judge Michael Erwin sentenced Hill to two years unsupervised probation and ordered him to pay $375 for the victim’s medical bills, write a letter of apology, attend anger management classes, perform 50 hours of community service and refrain from commenting to the press or via social media. Judge Erwin also stated that Hill's 9 p.m.-6 a.m. curfew will remain in place, but flexibility would be granted when his football schedule demands it, that is, if he is reinstated to the team.

From what I've read, I like the way the judge handled the case, especially when he reminded Hill of former Tiger Cecil Collins who ended up spending 13 years in jail for multiple bonehead crimes. According to Mike Shingleton (@MikeShingleton) of WBRZ, Judge Erwin told Hill, “I watched Cecil Collins play at LSU. He was the best running back in the school’s history. He was also the dumbest... you have the chance to be that good but you're going down the wrong road.”

While Hill appears to have come out pretty good in yesterday’s sentencing, he’s still not out of the woods. On August 16 he will face District Judge Bonnie Jackson for a probation violation hearing. It will be interesting to see if Coach Miles addresses Hill's situation prior to that hearing. Stay tuned, Tiger Fans.

In baseball news, LSU has reportedly picked up a commitment from junior college pitcher Kyle Bouman who is expected to join the Tiger team when school starts in August. Bouman is a lefty who pitched for Jefferson College (Missouri) in 2013 and went 5-3 with a 1.77 ERA. This summer he is pitching in the Cape Cod League for the Lakeshore Chinooks and is 4-0.

Speaking of commitments, I fully expect LSU to have added a few football commitments by this time next week. Yesterday I mentioned six key targets that I’ll be monitoring during next week’s huge camp, and today I’ll add a few more - defensive linemen Gerald Willis (6'3", 255, Edna Karr), Davon Godchaux (6'4", 265, Plaquemine), and Garrald McDowell (6'2", 255, Covington) who are numbers 8, 12, and 13 respectively on my mist of Top Louisiana Football Prospects for 2014. Of the nine targets I’ve mentioned in the last two days, I wouldn’t be surprised to see LSU secure commitments from at least three by the end of next week, and there could very well be others. LSU currently has 11 commitments for this year’s class.

Before moving on to our daily jersey countdown to LSU’s season-opener against TCU, I want to give a shout out to LSU's Sports Information department for producing their outstanding media guides. Yesterday it was announced that LSU’s baseball and softball media guides were voted the best in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The football media guide is also outstanding and has garnered numerous awards. During the 2012-13 season, LSU’s Sports Information department received a total of nine CoSIDA publications awards, the most of any school in the country. I find these publications invaluable with the work I do producing this website (I use the football media guide quite often for our jersey countdowns) and I encourage those of you who enjoy LSU stats and history to purchase copies for yourself. This year’s football media guide is not out yet, but you can pre-order a copy at LSUSports.net's Official Publications Store.

Seven weeks from today (49 days) will be Game Day for LSU football, and with that in mind let’s look at a former Tiger who wore No. 49 - Ryan O’Neal. O’Neal was recruited out of Jesuit High School as a 5-A All-State honorable mention fullback, and was a four-year letterman at LSU from 1999-2002. The best way to describe O’Neal was as a one-man highlight film on special teams. Although he never saw the field at fullback, he was one of LSU’s top coverage men of all-time and always played with a lot of emotion. He was known as a headhunter on the kickoff team, and was an absolute blast to watch when LSU kicked off as he would race down field and bust up the blocking wedge of the return team. Although O’Neal never started, he played in 41 games, all on special teams, and had 37 tackles. His most memorable game was in his senior year against Auburn when he recovered a fumble and forced another. Hats off to this unsung Tiger hero.
