Look at "Beat the clock" on television then watch the US government stonewall the American people about the IRS abuse - Sarah Palin floats idea of leaving the Republican Party [VIDEO] - Forever A Tiger - LSU Experience 2013;

Tinker:

The United States has not really been united since after the American civil war 1861-1865, over the federal government having more political power then State rights. Slavery was indeed the real reasons for that bloody conflict. Like my learned friend said " The reason for the civil war was slavery. It is often put forth that states rights were an issue but it represented the slave system that generated all the wealth that the wealthy southern aristocrats wanted to protect. States rights was just a bull talk ruse to get the rest of the population to fight. Southerners do not like to accept this but in my opinion this represented real reality."

Nothing much more has changed since that time because the States in the United States of America are hardly a united one body of people seeing the social problems eye to eye.

In our recent time here in America the people have a added monster to deal with, called television. Television was a true wonder to everybody living in America, with pictures and sound coming through the thin airways right into their living room.

Life was exciting to simply sit in front of the television sets for the most part in the beginning of television back then. Everyone seems to trust that the people programing the TV shows that we looked at in our homes, was not going to abusing us from the TV networks who would surly go on respecting the people privacy and dignity.

We have since learned that the TV networks not only simply abused the privilege of programing what everyone's sees on TV in our homes, but intern seem to treat the general public like a bunch of dumb rocks who can't make wise decisions by themselves.

Now television in 2013 is truly a social monster that I am fearfully waiting to hear that the television box is ordering everyone to go to a certain place so trucks can deliver us to be killed and cook, so the rich elite can still have some food to eat, and the food that they will be eating is us.

And of course everyone will allow themselves to be lead to the slaughter.

If I put my television set out for the trash truck to pick it up will the IRS come to knock on my front door and take me away. That this is a scary government we now live with ladies and gentlemen and I kid you not, because we all know the eye in the sky don't like us American people thinking for yourself.

Background

The balance of federal powers and those powers held by the states as defined in the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution was first addressed in the case of McCulloch v. Maryland (1819). The Court's decision by Chief Justice John Marshall asserted that the laws adopted by the federal government, when exercising its constitutional powers, are generally paramount over any conflicting laws adopted by state governments. After McCulloch, the primary legal issues in this area concerned the scope of Congress' constitutional powers, and whether the states possess certain powers to the exclusion of the federal government, even if the Constitution does not explicitly limit them to the states.[1][2]

Controversy

Since the 1940s, it has often been considered a loaded term because of its use in opposition to federally mandated racial desegregation.[3][4][5][6] In law, states' prerogatives are protected by the Tenth Amendment.

Text

The Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution states:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the constitution or laws of any state to the contrary notwithstanding. (Emphasis added.)

In The Federalist Papers, ratification proponent Alexander Hamilton explained the limitations this clause placed on the proposed federal government, describing that acts of the federal government were binding on the states and the people therein only if the act was in pursuance of constitutionally granted powers, and juxtaposing acts which exceeded those bounds as "void and of no force":

But it will not follow from this doctrine that acts of the large society which are not pursuant to its constitutional powers, but which are invasions of the residuary authorities of the smaller societies, will become the supreme law of the land. These will be merely acts of usurpation, and will deserve to be treated as such.

Controversy to 1865

NSA reportedly has secret data collection agreement with several European countries

A former NSA contractor says that the US has been colluding with the UK, Germany and others

The NSA has been working with at least seven European other countries to collect personal communications data, according to Wayne Madsen, a former NSA contractor who has come forward because he does not think the public should not be “kept in the dark.” According to Madsen, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain and Italy all have formed secret agreements with the US to submit sensitive data.

The Guardian reports:
Under international intelligence agreements, confirmed by declassified documents, nations are categorised by the US according to their trust level. The US is first party while the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand enjoy second party relationships. Germany and France have third party relationships.

In an interview published last night on the PrivacySurgeon.org blog, Madsen, who has been attacked for holding controversial views on espionage issues, said he had decided to speak out after becoming concerned about the “half story” told by EU politicians regarding the extent of the NSA’s activities in Europe.

He said that under the agreements, which were drawn up after the second world war, the “NSA gets the lion’s share” of the sigint “take”. In return, the third parties to the NSA agreements received “highly sanitised intelligence”.
The news could be potentially damaging to countries, particularly Germany, whose chancellor Angela Merkel has vocally condemned the NSA program that recently came to light by whistleblower Edward Snowden. Secret-court judges upset at portrayal of ‘collaboration’ with government

By , and Barton Gellman, Saturday, June 29, 8:31 PM

Recent leaks of classified documents have pointed to the role of a special court in enabling the government’s secret surveillance programs, but members of the court are chafing at the suggestion that they were collaborating with the executive branch.

A classified 2009 draft report by the National Security Agency’s inspector general relayed some details about the interaction between the court’s judges and the NSA, which sought approval for the Bush administration’s top-secret domestic surveillance programs. The report was described in The Washington Post on June 16 and released in full Thursday by The Post and the British newspaper the Guardian.

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, the former chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, took the highly unusual step Friday of voicing open frustration at the account in the report and court’s inability to explain its decisions.

“In my view, that draft report contains major omissions, and some inaccuracies, regarding the actions I took as Presiding Judge of the FISC and my interactions with Executive Branch officials,” Kollar-Kotelly said in a statement to The Post. It was her first public comment describing her work on the intelligence court.

The inspector general’s draft report is among the many documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden, touching off a roiling national debate about the proper balance between the government’s reach into Americans’ lives and the effort to protect the nation in the Internet age.

The document portrays the surveillance court as “amenable” to the government’s legal theory to “re-create” authority for the Internet metadata program that had initially been authorized by President George W. Bush without court or congressional approval. The program was shut down in March 2004 when acting Attorney General James B. Comey and senior leaders at the Justice Department threatened to resign over what they felt was an illegal program. Ann Coulter Says Chris Christie Is Dead To Her For Jeff Chiesa's Immigration Vote

The Huffington Post  |  By Posted: 06/28/2013

ann coulter chris christie
Conservative commentator Ann Coulter is going after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) after Christie's appointee to the U.S. Senate voted for the immigration bill.

Coulter tweeted Thursday that Christie is "dead to me" after Sen. Jeff Chiesa (R-N.J.) voted in favor of the comprehensive immigration reform bill that passed the Senate, the Star-Ledger reported. The comment about Christie was part of a series of tweets by Coulter attacking Republicans who voted in favor of the bill, which received bipartisan support. Christie appointed Chiesa to the Senate earlier this month following the death of Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D). Chiesa is scheduled to serve until a Oct. 16 special election to fill the remaining 15 months of Lautenberg's term.

Right after attacking Christie, Coulter listed Republican senators who she wanted to see targeted in Republican primaries when they run for reelection because they voted for the bill. Among those listed were Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.).

Coulter received support on Twitter for her attack on Christie; one tweet from an account belonging to @RedKnightNJ attacked Christie for naming Chiesa to the Senate without checking on the immigration bill first. When he was named to the Senate, Chiesa largely deflected questions on immigration policy, talking briefly about border security and saying he needed to study the issues.

Christie said at the time that he expected Chiesa to act on his own and not seek advice from him on Senate votes. Christie reiterated earlier this week that Chiesa acts independently from him.

Coulter, who backed Christie in the past, has been distancing herself from the New Jersey governor recently. Earlier this year, she told a weight joke at the Conservative Political Action Conference when discussing the decision by CPAC officials not to invite Christie to speak.

Chiesa announced his support for the immigration bill on Thursday, saying that "it is the right thing to do." Chiesa has been a longtime member of Christie's inner circle, dating back to when the two worked at the same Cranford law firm in the 1990s. Chiesa served under Christie when the governor was New Jersey's U.S. attorney for seven years. Christie tapped Chiesa as his chief counsel in the governor's office and as New Jersey's attorney general before appointing him to the U.S. Senate.

Christie's spokesman said the governor's office did not have a comment on Coulter's tweet.

Hundreds of South African demonstrators clashed with police outside of the Soweto campus of the University of Johannesburg on Saturday before a planned appearance by President Obama.
Between 150 to 200 demonstrators held signs that depicted the President as Hitler and demanded that the United States lift trade sanctions against Cuba. Scuffles broke out between the demonstrators and police as they stood across the road from the university.

“Go back, Obama,” the demonstrators chanted.

South African critics of the U.S. president have voiced their disapproval of his use of drone strikes, the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, and the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba. Overall, polls show widespread approval in South Africa for the American leader, with 72 percent of South Africans saying they have a favorable image of the U.S. in a June 27 Pew poll. Seventy-four percent of South Africans say they trust Obama to handle world affairs.

Protestors face police officers during a demonstration against the visit of US President Barak Obama in South Africa on June 29, 2013 in Soweto. US President Barack Obama Saturday decided not to visit his political hero Nelson Mandela in hospital to preserve the "peace and comfort" of the anti-apartheid legend, whose family he will meet to offer prayers instead.

“Our rejection is based on the USA's arrogant, selfish and oppressive foreign policies, treatment of workers and international trade relations that are rooted in war mongering, neo-liberal super-exploitation, colonial racism and the disregard and destruction of the environment, thus making the realization of a just and peaceful world impossible,” organizers of the “NO-Bama” protests said in a statement.

The group, which consist of students, members of the Young Communist League, Azanian People’s Organization, and the South African Communist Party said that it was important to demonstrate before Saturday’s town hall meeting because it was a “poor and undemocratic decision [for the university] to host and confer an honorary doctorate to President Barack Obama.”
White House deputy national security adviser Benjamin J. Rhodes said only that South Africa is a “vibrant democracy” ahead of the protests, according to the New York Times.
While the demonstrators received a permit to protest across the street from the school, police cleared the area, forcing the protests up the road to a vacant lot around 2:30pm local time.

Sarah Palin rips Rubio on immigration

By Cameron Joseph - 06/24/13 01:29 PM ET

Sarah Palin criticized Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) by name on Monday for the Senate immigration bill.

Palin, in a lengthy Facebook post, blasts the bill as "amnesty," says it won't secure America's borders and compares the Senate's process toward passing it to Democrats' passage of ObamaCare in 2010.

She criticized Rubio and other "amnesty suppoters" for opposing an amendment sponsored by Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) that would have required the completion of more of the border fence before illegal immigrants could receive registered provision immigrant status. "It's beyond disingenuous for anyone to claim that a vote for this bill is a vote for security," Palin wrote.

"Look no further than the fact that Senator Rubio and amnesty supporters nixed Senator Thune's amendment that required the feds to finally build part of a needed security fence before moving forward on the status of illegal immigrants who've already broken the law to be here," she wrote. "This bill isn’t about fixing problems; it's about amnesty at all costs."

--------------
The Monday post comes just hours after she posted an article highlighting Rubio's 2010 comments that an "earned path to citizenship is basically code for amnesty," deriding him as a flip-flopper. The attacks are a sign that should Rubio run for president, she could emerge as a vocal detractor of his campaign.

Palin, now a Fox News contributor who continues to hold sway with conservative activists, warns that the bill will lead to a conservative revolt against both Democrats and centrist Republicans in the 2014 elections.

"As the Senate moves to pass amnesty, the only bright spot in this travesty is the rallying revolution we can look forward to. For just as opposition to Obamacare became a rallying cry for the 2010 midterm elections, opposition to this fundamentally transforming amnesty bill will galvanize the grassroots in next year’s elections," she concludes. "And 2014 is just around the corner."

Sarah Palin Bashes GOP Establishment Over Immigration, Suggests Leaving Republican Party

Jun. 28, 2013 6:00pm

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Friday lambasted “establishment” Senate Republicans who voted for immigration reform, and suggested she might even leave the Republican Party.

“Great job, GOP establishment,” Palin said in a Facebook post. “You’ve just abandoned the Reagan Democrats with this amnesty bill, and we needed them to ‘enlarge that tent’ of which you so often speak.”
Sarah Palin Bashes GOP Establishment Over Immigration, Suggests Leaving Republican Party AP
Among the 14 Republicans who backed the immigration bill was Arizona Sen. John McCain, who named Palin as his Republican vice presidential running mate in 2008.

“It was the loss of working class voters in swing states that cost us the 2012 election, not the Hispanic vote,” Palin said. “Legal immigrants respect the rule of law and can see how self-centered a politician must be to fill this amnesty bill with favors, earmarks, and crony capitalists’ pork, and call it good. You disrespect Hispanics with your assumption that they desire ignoring the rule of law.”

Palin earlier this week excoriated so-called “Gang of Eight” Republican member Marco Rubio for his “flip-flop” on amnesty for illegal immigrants. Repeating the “flip-flopping” charge Friday, Palin said she was close to finished with the GOP.

“Folks like me are barely hanging on to our enlistment papers in any political party – and it’s precisely because flip-flopping political actions like amnesty force us to ask how much more bull from both the elephants in the Republican Party and the jackasses in the Democrat Party we have to swallow before these political machines totally abandon the average commonsense hardworking American,” Palin said.

She continued, “Now we turn to watch the House. If they bless this new ‘bi-partisan’ hyper-partisan devastating plan for amnesty, we’ll know that both private political parties have finally turned their backs on us. It will then be time to show our parties’ hierarchies what we think of being members of either one of these out-of-touch, arrogant, and dysfunctional political machines.”

With their ratings sliding for the first time in 17 years, it’s time the “Today” Show joined its competition in adding a black female co-host.
Now is the perfect time to do it.
As Fox pointed out:

“Today” had been the undisputed morning champ in the ratings since 1995 until this spring, when a resurgent “GMA” snapped NBC’s winning streak by seizing the top spot several times.
Just last week, during Savannah’s first turn as the “Today” Show co-host, “Good Morning America” had the largest ratings lead over “Today” in more than 17 years, while extending its top-ranked status to three consecutive weeks.

There are plenty of reasons why “Today” has lost its edge. However, while their top brass is undoubtedly scrambling to make adjustments in an effort to place the show back on top, I hope they will seriously consider adding a black woman to the morning show.

When Savannah was promoted to co-anchor alongside Matt Lauer, she left her 9am spot open and many are speculating that Tamron Hall or Hoda Kobt may fill it.

It’s unlikely they would move Hoda to an earlier time slot considering that would leave a gaping hole next to Kathie Lee. That leaves Tamron to be the center of speculation. I don’t necessarily want that move for her because she has such a good gig right now. Plus, NBC shouldn’t just move one black person around to look like it has diverse talent on staff instead of hiring more black people and actually having diverse talent on staff. Like, electing Barack Obama to POTUS meant not having a single Black Senator in United States Congress, moving Tamron to mornings would mean the only other Black female on the network all day would be Hoda at 10am. Tamron certainly wouldn’t be a poor choice, but surely the network has more than two black women to choose from. If not, I’m fairly certain the National Association of Black Journalists could pass along some names and reels.

If moving Tamron or Hoda are the only options then I hope they go for it. The paucity of African-American co-anchors in The Today Show’s history is astounding. As far as black women are concerned? They’re utterly non-existent.

The Ed Sullivan Show

CBS (ended 1971)

This long-running variety series premiered on June 20, 1948 with the title Toast of the Town. (The Toast of the Town link covers the first 8 seasons of Ed Sullivan.)

The series was re-titled The Ed Sullivan Show on September 25, 1955 (the beginning of the 9th season). Although the name had changed, it remained the same variety show with "something for everyone." There continued to be a diverse guest line-up which included singers, musicians, actors, dancers, comedians, circus acts, plate spinners and acrobats.

But now there was now a new type of guest: the rock 'n' roll performer. While Ed booked a few rock 'n' roll acts on "Toast of the Town," these performers became even more prominent on "The Ed Sullivan Show."

One of the most famous rock 'n' roll acts was, of course, Elvis Presley. Ed had at first scoffed at the idea of booking Elvis, who had already appeared on "Stage Show," "The Milton Berle Show" and "The Steve Allen Show" amid much controversy. But as Elvis' popularity grew, Ed relented and booked him for three appearances. Read more...

Forever A Tiger - LSU Experience 2013

----------------

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report

6/29/09 6:15 am CST

Good morning, Tiger Fans,
As expected, Coach Miles picked up his 12th commitment for the class of 2014 yesterday when John Battle (DB, 6'2", 183) committed to LSU. Based on his highlight video and from everything I've heard about him, I think he's a great addition to this class, which now includes seven out-of-state and five in-state prospects. A few of you have asked if I think taking a commitment from Battle will hurt LSU's chances with Louisiana's Lawrence Jones (No. 6 on my list of Top LA Prospects) or Texas’ Tony Brown, and my answer is no, I do not. Players the caliber of Jones and Brown are secure in their abilities and don’t back down from competition, and I'm sure they realize that LSU will take lots of DBs in this class.

Battle is a hard-hitter with pretty good speed who can cover a lot of ground. He's also a very good student, from what I hear, and a tremendous hurdler who has expressed an interest in being a two-sport athlete at LSU (football and track). I like the commitment.

A lot of folks I've heard from feel like this class is filling up fast and are concerned that some of Louisiana's elite talent will get left out if they don’t commit soon. I too would like to see some of the state's big fish jump on board soon, but I'm not too worried about it. LSU’s currently has 12 commitments, which is four less than last year at this date, and one of the 12 is Sharieff Rhaheed (LB/DE 6'2", 205, Fort Pierce, FL) whom many consider a soft commitment. There's still plenty of time and enough space, but with so much elite, uncommitted in-state talent in this 2014 class it will be really interesting to see how it all plays out.

Hodson is Louisiana through and through

2013 Hall of Fame inductee now honored by the state that raised him

By CODY WORSHAM
Tiger Rag Editor

NATCHITOCHES, La. - Tommy Hodson doesn’t remember what everyone else does.

Sure, he can still recall the feeling of quite literally making the earth move, when his game-winning, fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Eddie Fuller helped LSU beat Auburn 7-6 in 1988 elicited an eruption from the Tiger Stadium faithful that moved the needle on a nearby seismograph.

Hodson also remembers winning the SEC title that season, when an offense depleted by the departures of stars like Wendell Davis, Nacho Albergamo, and Eric Andolsek came together.

But of all the memories Hodson acquired during his four seasons at LSU - when he racked up 44 starts, two SEC titles, four first-team All-SEC honors, and school records in passing yards (9,115) and touchdowns (69) - the ones that stand out most took place off the football field.

“A lot of people ask me about the plays or the games or the championships, but the things that always come to my mind are the teammates, the great personalities they all had,” Hodson recalled, pointing out his days in Broussard Hall, then the athletics dorms. “We have a lot of great memories from 1988, but more so from Broussard Hall.”

Being part of that is only one small part why Hodson is being inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of fame this weekend in Natchitoches. Just as important are his part in the 1986 and 1988 SEC championship-winning teams he quarterbacked, as well as his many records and highlights.

Hardwood vs. Gridiron

And to think, he almost passed up the chance to play football altogether.

“Growing up, we were a basketball family,” said Hodson, whose father played at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, not far from the family’s home in Lafourche Parish. “The Hodson family on Bayou Lafourche was known for basketball.”

Hodson averaged over 27 points per game as a senior at Central Lafourche High School, but by then, he had already forsaken his first love for another.

“I was a football fan growing up too. When you grow up in a small town, you play ‘em all. I really caught the fever my junior year of high school and decided to make that transition over to football,” said Hodson.

Under Coach Bob Groh, Hodson shined as a prep and earned a scholarship offer to LSU - an offer too good to refuse.

“When LSU recruited me, growing up in South Louisiana, football is king, and LSU football is really king,” he said.

“I never looked back.”

Early bloomer

After undergoing surgery and redshirting his first year, Hodson entered the spring of 1986 competing for the starting quarterback position as a redshirt freshman. When Stan Humphries transferred, a job Hodson never dreamed he’d earn so soon was up for grabs.

“I really didn’t think about [starting as a freshman],” he said. “I was just thinking, ‘Man, I get to go to LSU. There’s 20,000 people there, a bunch of girls. Man, this is going to be great.’”

He won the job in the fall, solidifying his spot in a 25-16 win over Kentucky on October 8, 1986. That night, he completed 16 of 24 passes for 255 yards and two scores, breaking out in a big way.

“Everything took off from there,” he said.

Earth shaker

LSU would go on to win the 1986 SEC title, an unforgettable accomplishment for any Tiger quarterback, let alone a freshman. But the most unforgettable moment of Hodson’s career - at least for the fans - will always be the Hodson-to-Fuller touchdown against Auburn in 1988 - and the resulting terrestrial tremors.

Hodson’s memories of the Earthquake Game still linger, and it’s something he’s proud to be a part of - even if time has helped exaggerate the details.

“The story’s gotten legs,” Hodson joked. “They’ve blown it up quite a bit since then.

“LSU’s been playing football a long time. The Billy Cannon run, Bert Jones throwing the pass to Brad Davis…just to be part of those stories, to be one of five or six stories in LSU history, as long as they’ve been playing football, is great.

“It’s great for my kids. They get to go to LSU, and their pop threw a touchdown pass a long time ago. I don’t know if he was any good, but he threw this pass, and the earth shook. It’s great for them to ask me about it. It’s a good story. I’m glad to have been a part of it.”

Southern born, Southern bred

Nearly 25 years after that moment immortalized him in LSU lore, Hodson is now set to enter a Hall of Fame filled with legends from across the state he’s always called home - from childhood to present day. To him, it’s an accomplishment as humbling as it is hard to believe.

“I was born and raised here,” he said. “I played at Lockport Junior High, Central Lafourche High School, I played for LSU, and I played for the New Orleans Saints. And now I live in Baton Rouge, so I’m Louisiana through and through.”

“I’ve always said, I’m a Southerner. I belong in Louisiana. I enjoy the climate. For me to be here with all the great players that are on that roster is unbelievable and a tremendous honor for me. I’m as average and plain as you can get. I’m just regular Joe, and I’m here.”

The Earthquake Game is special. One thing I remember is that Auburn got the ball back and almost completed a pass that would have put them in field goal range in that game. In addition, Hodson lead LSU to a winning score in the last seconds against Alabama that year as the Tigers topped the Tide 19-18. He also got his bell rung against Georgia in 1987 and lead them on a winning touchdown drive in Athens. He has a lot of special moments like a game winning drive against Tulane in ‘87 and his debut against Texas A&M in 1986.

    Via Sportress of Blogitude:

While it is not the first time someone has inadvertently left something behind in an airport restroom, the discovery of a misplaced Super Bowl ring by an airport employee at the Mineta San Jose International Airport probably was the most “blingy” and valuable of items.

Arra Daquina, an employee at a Starbucks outpost in the airport’s baggage claim area, happened upon the ring of a San Francisco 49ers player from the team’s Super Bowl XIX victory over the Miami Dolphins in 1984.

The identity of the owner of the ring was easily discovered as the name John Macaulay, the center on the 1984 49ers team, was engraved on the side of it.

Saying, “I didn’t know what it was, but it was big and heavy,” Daquina turned the ring over to Denny Pfaff, a volunteer at one of the airport’s information booths.

Ultimately, Macaulay, now a doctor and a tech professional, came looking for it and the ring was returned to its rightful owner.

Macaulay, according to San Jose Mercury News report, said he was amazed at how quickly the ring was back in his possession.

Even though Macaulay’s ordeal did have a happy ending, let this be a lesson to everyone: Don’t leave your Super Bowl ring in an airport bathroom. If you have one, that is. I guess the lesson applies to other, less valuable stuff as well.

"You have to be asleep to believe it;" - Record sums of US debt - The IRS running amuck - Cheating the American people - Ecuador Tells US To Take Its Trade Agreement And Shove It, After Threats Relayed Over Snowden - In case you die before LSU tiger stadium is done Here's the SEZ expansion rendering that's out in front of the stadium:

    Tinker:

Watching TV is not one of my favorite things to do, although I still look for some good information that I might not otherwise be able to know about. So I don't censer myself.

But I do know a number of friend of mind who do not look at TV at all without missing much of anything and because they don't look they seem to be free of the aggravation that I tolerate looking at television.

The commercials alone are enough to chase the best of us away, after all who really want to subject themselves to a cheep TV programer.

Do you think the root of most of America social problems is that a lot of people living in America now really don't want to work at all. Or if they do have a job they make sure they work as easy as possible at what they do. People who simply punch in and out of the office with a measured lazy effort

The love of money is the root of all evil when you really don't earn it.

Going along with living off of our government welfare money by hardly working or not working at all for the money, is a deceitful way to game our system of government.

That deliberate choice to cheat the American citizens out of their tax money is a destructive drag on our society because of the laziness of people that go along with that government hustle. And that of course make me feel like a chump to the politicians running Washington DC.

Fail safe places for the American citizens to go get a helping hand from our America government services, is one thing, but out right fraud by people gaming the United States government welfare system, is entirely something else.
The American people need honest answers now from the American citizens government about the IRS running amuck.

Are they going to leave us like this or are they going to subpoena
the bad guy, what is the US house of representatives waiting for?

Central banks sell record sums of US debt

By Robin Wigglesworth in London, Michael Mackenzie in New York and Josh Noble in Hong Kong

Central banks sold a record amount of US Treasury debt last week while bond funds suffered the biggest ever investor withdrawals as markets shuddered at the prospect of the US Federal Reserve ending its quantitative easing programme.

Holdings of US Treasuries held at the Fed on behalf of official foreign institutions dropped a record $32.4bn to $2.93tn, eclipsing the prior mark of $24bn in August 2007. It was the third week of outflows in the past four.

Private investors are also dumping fixed income. Bond funds tracked by EPFR Global, a data provider, saw total redemptions of $23.3bn in the week to June 26. US funds were the worst hit, with withdrawals totalling $10.6bn, but emerging market debt funds also saw record redemptions of $5.6bn.

Over the past five weeks emerging market debt and equity fund outflows have totalled $35bn, of which $22.5bn has fled stock market funds.

“People are throwing in the towel,” said Markus Rosgen, chief Asia equity strategist at Citigroup. “It’ll drag the market down lower over the course of the summer.” Read more...http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/cdc2d99e-dfa6-11e2-881f-00144feab7de.html#axzz2XYfgMAQX

    The IRS Can't Plead Incompetence

If the agency didn't know what it was doing, it wouldn't have done it so well.

Quickly: Everyone agrees the Internal Revenue Service is, under current governmental structures, the proper agency to determine the legitimacy of applications for tax-exempt status. Everyone agrees the IRS has the duty to scrutinize each request, making sure that the organization meets relevant criteria. Everyone agrees groups requesting tax-exempt status must back up their requests with truthful answers and honest information.

Some ask, "Don't conservatives know they have to be questioned like anyone else?" Yes, they do. Their grievance centers on the fact they have not been. They were targeted, and their rights violated.

The most compelling evidence of that is what happened to the National Organization for Marriage. Its chairman, John Eastman, testified before the House Ways and Means Committee, and the tale he told was different from the now-familiar stories of harassment and abuse.

In March 2012, the organization, which argues the case for traditional marriage, found out its confidential tax information had been obtained by the Human Rights Campaign, one of its primary opponents in the marriage debate. The HRC put the leaked information on its website—including the names of NOM donors. The NOM not only has the legal right to keep its donors' names private, it has to, because when contributors' names have been revealed in the past they have been harassed, boycotted and threatened. This is a free speech right, one the Supreme Court upheld in 1958 after the state of Alabama tried to compel the NAACP to surrender its membership list.

The NOM did a computer forensic investigation and determined that its leaked IRS information had come from within the IRS itself. If it was leaked by a worker or workers within the IRS it would be a federal crime, with penalties including up to five years in prison.

In April 2012, the NOM asked the IRS for an investigation. The inspector general's office gave them a complaint number. Soon they were in touch. Even though the leaked document bore internal IRS markings, the inspector general decided that maybe the document came from within the NOM. The NOM demonstrated that was not true.

    image
Associated Press John Eastman, National Organization for Marriage chairman, testifying before Congress about the IRS's political targeting of his group, June 4.

For the next 14 months they heard nothing about an investigation. By August 2012, the NOM was filing Freedom of Information Act requests trying to find out if there was one. The IRS stonewalled. Their "latest nonresponse response," said Mr. Eastman, claimed that the law prohibiting the disclosure of confidential tax returns also prevents disclosure of information about who disclosed them. Mr. Eastman called this "Orwellian." He said that what the NOM experienced "suggests that problems at the IRS are potentially far more serious" than the targeting of conservative organizations for scrutiny.

In hearings Thursday, Rep. Elijah Cummings, a Maryland Democrat who disagrees with the basic stand of the NOM, said that what had happened to the organization was nonetheless particularly offensive to him. The new IRS director agreed he would look into it.

Almost a month after the IRS story broke—a month after the high-profile scandal started to unravel after a botched spin operation that was meant to make the story go away—no one has been able to produce a liberal or progressive group that was targeted and thwarted by the agency's tax-exemption arm in the years leading up to the 2012 election. The House Ways and Means Committee this week held hearings featuring witnesses from six of the targeted groups. Before the hearing, Republicans invited Democrats to include witnesses from the other side. The Democrats didn't produce one. The McClatchy news service also looked for nonconservative targets. "Virtually no organizations perceived to be liberal or nonpartisan have come forward to say they were unfairly targeted," it reported. Liberal groups told McClatchy "they thought the scrutiny they got was fair."Read more...http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323844804578529713576219412.html

Ecuador Tells US To Take Its Trade Agreement And Shove It, After Threats Relayed Over Snowden

    from the wow dept

One of the points that many people have made concerning most countries in the world is that they're loathe to challenge the US on many things, even when they're in the right, because they're so reliant on the US for trade. The US regularly lords this fact over countries in seeking to get its way. In fact, US officials had been very strongly suggesting to Ecuador that if it decides to take in Ed Snowden and grant him asylum, that there could be consequences for trade under the Andean Trade Preference Act that both countries are signed to, but which needs to be renewed next month. Specifically, US politicians suggested that they might not allow the renewal if Ecuador granted asylum.

In response, Ecuador has taken a stand: saying that it's breaking the trade agreement upfront as it doesn't appreciate the attempt by the US to blackmail it in this matter. President Rafael Correa's government said on Thursday it was renouncing the Andean Trade Preference Act to thwart US "blackmail" of Ecuador in the former NSA contractor's asylum request.

The Southeastern Conference Spring Meeting wrapped up a month ago in Destin, Fla., without a long-term scheduling format but with the promise that a schedule for the 2014 season was near completion.

That schedule still isn’t finished, but LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva said Thursday he has been assured of one thing: The Tigers won’t be playing Georgia or South Carolina.

“I’m shocked the schedule isn’t out yet,” he said. “When we left Destin, they told us a few schools had to move some games. We weren’t one of those.

“It sounded relatively quick and easy, but it isn’t done yet. But there will be no Georgia or South Carolina.”

There will be a game in 2014 for LSU at Florida, the Gators continuing to be the Tigers’ permanent opponent out of the SEC East unless the conference changes that part of the scheduling format.

As for the other game out of the East, with Georgia and South Carolina off the board the Tigers’ potential opponents are Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. Of those, only Vanderbilt posted a winning record in 2012, going 9-4.

LSU hosted South Carolina in 2012 and will visit Georgia on Sept. 28. The Gamecocks, Bulldogs and Gators have been the SEC East powers in recent years, combining to reach the past five SEC championship games.

Alleva and LSU coach Les Miles have lobbied the SEC membership do away with the current 6-1-1 schedule format. It calls for each team to play a permanent opponent from the opposite division, one rotating opponent from the opposite division and all six teams within its division — in the Tigers’ case the SEC West.

They cite a competitive imbalance, especially this season when LSU is playing Florida (on Oct. 12 in Tiger Stadium) and Georgia, teams that shared first place in the SEC East last season with a combined 14-2 record. Alabama, meanwhile, plays permanent opponent Tennessee and Kentucky, which went a combined 1-15 in 2012.

The SEC has vowed to look at a variety of scheduling formats going forward, including both eight- and nine-game conference schedules.

Although SEC coaches voted 13-1 in Destin against a nine-game schedule — Alabama’s Nick Saban the dissenting vote — Alleva said he could support nine games if it did not include a permanent opponent.

Another scheduling piece still to be completed is the contract that will have LSU face Wisconsin in a pair of neutral-site games. The schools have agreed to open the 2014 season against each other at Reliant Stadium in Houston, but Alleva said they still have to decide which year they would face each other at the Green Bay Packers’ iconic Lambeau Field.

“It’s going to happen,” Alleva said of the two-game series.

LSU opens the 2013 season nine weeks from Saturday when the Tigers take on TCU in the Cowboys Classic in Arlington, Texas. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Aug 31.

If you don’t recognize that kid on the cover of ESPN the magazine, it’s because he hasn’t taken his first high school class yet. If you do recognize him, you know he was offered an SEC football scholarship before taking a high school class.

The young man on the cover of the most recent issue of ESPN the Magazine is Dylan Moses, a rising freshman at Baton Rouge’s University Lab. LSU infamously offered him a scholarship as an eighth grader, prompting questions about when is considered too soon to start courting talented football players.

The magazine, which hits news stands today, has a full feature on Moses. Jerit Roser of Nola.com offered up this piece about what it meant for the 15-year-old to grace the cover

As I pointed out yesterday, this is the slowest time of the year for LSU sports. Tiger Sports Digest is trying to work around that with a countdown of the 50 best players on LSU’s roster, the latest being D.J. Welter at No. 27.

As for what’s in store for the Tigers as a team this season, NOLA.com’s Trey Iles sampled a handful of college football preview magazines to see where LSU stood among the nation’s best. The findings were middling.

Part of the reason for that is LSU’s tough schedule. Not only do the Tigers have to go through the SEC Western Division grinder, but they have to face the Eastern Division’s only tough teams in Florida and Georgia. Florida is a lock every year as one of LSU’s permanent opponents, but  The Advocate’s Scott Rabalais says not to expect the Bulldogs in 2014.

Finally, a handful of LSU baseball players signed their pro contracts, including Ryan Eades and Will LaMarche. There are only a few unsigned draftees remaining, but those chips should fall soon.
