The
opening part of LSU 2015 football season is going to be very tough as
Miss State is even better than they were last year. And you know what
happen to the LSU tiger here in LSU Tiger Stadium losing to State in a
one sided blow out, until the dying minuets as LSU finally started
scoring points again the replacements.
Auburn
is another strong obstacle beating the tar out of our Bengal tiger as
the war eagles kept possession of the football and chased LSU best efforts
out of town - LSU Lost 41-7. Then Ole Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas
A&M. So I am just hopeful that this 2015 LSU football team can split
the hard football game in November. And somehow get off to a great
start against Miss State, and Auburn. Even if the LSU fighting tiger
doesn't have the kind of QB that they need in a true balanced scoring
attack. The 2015 LSU football team need to score points any kinder way
they can without giving up the football like they did last year. Or come
up with a stone wall defense.

First impression of the USA Today coaches’ poll released Thursday, which starts LSU squarely at the tipping point at No. 13:
The Tigers draw more respect nationally than they do at home.
At home there are concerns aplenty in the wake of
an 8-5 season, which ended with a frustrating loss to Notre Dame in the
Music City Bowl and left LSU unranked in the final polls for the first
time since going 8-5 in 2008. The Tigers have a huge question mark at
quarterback in terms of productivity, even if as expected the current
criminal charges against Anthony Jennings are dropped and he returns to
the team in time for the Sept. 5 opener against McNeese State.
The rest of the team is top-10 worthy, from running back to the lines to certainly the linebackers and secondary corps.
But that quarterback position, and subsequently the
passing game that averaged just 162.9 yards per game to rank 114th in
the nation, must improve significantly for the Tigers to be worthy of a
ranking such as this.
No. 13 is pretty close to where LSU started in 2003
at No. 14, a team with the only question at quarterback being how well
recovered Matt Mauck was from a serious foot injury midseason the year
before.
Is this LSU team in that category? At this point,
it’s not. Aside from quarterback, there are smaller concerns about how
Kevin Steele’s defense will pan out that have been drowned out by the
quarterback watch all offseason.
I don’t have a vote in The Associated Press media
poll this year (our Ross Dellenger is voting for the second straight
season, that poll to be released in a couple of weeks). At first I
thought if I was voting, I’d probably put LSU somewhere around No. 20.
However, after putting pen to paper, I probably
would put the Tigers at No. 17, just ahead of a raft of teams like Ole
Miss, Arkansas, Missouri and over-hyped Tennessee.
This said, if LSU can get off to a promising start,
I would be inclined to push the Tigers toward the top 10. A lot of
voters, including myself in the past, are too beholden to their
preseason rankings.
This year, though, there are too many teams like
LSU who could be good but have too many potential or pitfalls not to be
reshuffled once the season’s weeks start clicking past.
LSU’s schedule will provide a quick litmus test.
After McNeese State to open, the Tigers travel to Mississippi State
(unranked but still dangerous) then return home to host No. 7 Auburn.
LSU has three more ranked opponents, all in what
shapes up as a make-or-break November: at No. 3 Alabama and No. 15 Ole
Miss and at home against No. 20 Arkansas, along with a home game against
Texas A&M in the Chavis Bowl which finished just outside the
preseason poll.
By November, LSU may well be worthy of a No. 13 ranking — or better. But the Tigers first have some proving to do.

The
reason Alabama continues to reign at the top of the poles is because
they continue to recruit the best players from Louisiana year after
year. Also, I think the won-loss record over the past 7 years and 3
national chamionships probably influences the preseason poll...not
rocket science really.

Well if you're nick saban you can do that. But Lsu isn't far behind, so be thankful for what you have.
The
State of Alabama is all in when it comes to football. Like the other
SEC states their effective participation is limited to amateur
competition. Hence it is a priority to the citizens much the same as
Louisiana. Reading the Advocate sports page its clear the writers effort
our state to be relevant as possible.
Alabama is relevant in amateur football.
Did
you read the part about the gump-dykes only returning 2 players on
their offense? I notice they didn't get Fournette, Dupre, etc either.
Alabama will lose 4 or 5 this year with the tough (FINALLY) schedule
they have.

Rankings shouldn't come out until mid October. Any sooner is a joke.

That's
about all they've ever done, except for 2 years ago when they had all
that talent and didn't do much with it. I can understand that too. After
losing 9 players to the draft it's hard replacing them.

Miles
needs to make the best long term view QB choice=Harris. Problem is
Miles takes the short term view, thinking Jennings is the safe choice
and he can cover up his deficiencies with the run game a the D. The
opponents are on to us now and that will no longer work. They load up to
stop the run and Jennings isn't capable of winning throwing the ball.
We need to start Harris from day one and develope him as the starter.
What's wrong with using the run game and the D with Harris as the
starter? After 2 or 3 games Harris will surpass Jennings' ability, then
when we need the QB to win a game Harris will be ready to do it. Miles
must think long term.
