Tinker Town Tiger: Who ever is a good offense college football coach looking for a job, needs to apply elsewhere. No new Offensive Coordinator for LSU. Or any other kind of changes for the 2013 LSU fighting tiger college football team. Les Miles don't see anything wrong with his LSU football teams offense. So Que Sera Sera for the LSU football team in 2013 tiger fans. He just wants to toss the dice once again on the LSU tiger stadium football field. After all, he has been rolling 10 win college football seasons for the past 8 years now, coaching LSU football teams. Why should he do anything different now.
His LSU football teams have been winning. And that is good enough for him for many more LSU football seasons to come. Les Miles was making over three million dollars before he received this latest pay raise of 4.3 million. Arkansas wanted to hire him away from LSU. So the LSU powers that be gave Les Miles another pay raise with a new seven-year contract. To stay coaching LSU. He has the money, and now a new extended contract giving him even more time to damn well act any way he wanted too. So how do you like those apples tiger fans?
QB Mettenbergeris is like watching a wet noodle trying to run. All wiggly, and unstable. My goodness what a horrible sight!?
I need a goody's - extra strength?

Greater New Orleans
LSU hosts top defensive prospects this weekend
James Smith, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, January 24, 2013 10:50 p.m.
LSU commitment Jeremy Cutrer (15) will take his official visit to LSU this weekend.
-
(Ellis Lucia, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune)
Non-LSU committed prospects:
Eddie Jackson, ATH, 6-1, 180, Boyd Anderson, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Jackson is Florida’s version of Holy Cross wide receiver and LSU-commitment, Kevin Spears. He's a late bloomer that quickly became one of the hottest prospects on the recruiting scene following a great senior season. Jackson is a tremendous athlete with the ability to play in the defensive backfield or wide receiver.
After taking a visit to Alabama last weekend, Jackson named them his leader, a few weeks after naming Florida State his leader and nearly committing to the Seminoles. The Tigers are all in on Jackson as he is the only uncommitted prospect that projects well at safety that they have left on their board.
Tashawn Bower, DL, 6-5, 250, Immaculata, Somerville, N. J. (Auburn commitment)
Bower has heard a lot from LSU defensive line Coach Brick Haley over the past couple of months, now it is time for him to take a look himself. During that time, he has been very receptive to the Tigers' coach. Bower has been committed to Auburn since June of 2012, but after the firing of Coach Gene Chizik, Bower started entertaining other college programs. The visit to Baton Rouge comes one week after a Florida visit that didn’t sway the Jersey prospect off of his commitment. LSU will take its shot at doing so this weekend.
Duke Riley, LB, 6-1, 205, John Curtis
After a very productive senior season for the Patriots, Riley has seen a major push from a handful of programs. Most notably, LSU and Tulane. However, Riley does not currently hold an offer for this class from LSU, instead the Tigers have offered a grayshirt as of now, due to tight numbers and team needs. After an official visit last weekend at Tulane, Riley left with a great feeling for the Green Wave. The team that seems to be left out right now may be Ole Miss who was expecting Riley this weekend. But a late change of plans sent Riley to Baton Rouge instead of Oxford. TCU also remains in the mix as the Horned Frogs hosted him for an official visit two weekends ago.
One thing is for sure, everything is in the air when it comes to Riley and his recruitment right now. It is possible that this weekend could ultimately determine where he ends up playing.
LATEST RECRUITING NEWS
Tevin Lawson, DT, 6-4 280, Denham Springs
One of the first commitments for the 2013 class, Lawson is a solid commitment that hasn’t entertained any other schools throughout the process. The only focus for Lawson down the stretch will be his grades as he is doing what he can to ensure qualifying.
Jeremy Cutrer, DB, 6-2, 160, Jewel Sumner
Cutrer has been one of the more silent commitments in LSU’s class, in regards to interviews and media interaction, but his commitment is very solid and he too only needs to focus on his grades. It's even more important to LSU he qualify as he is the only pure safety in the class. With that said, he must fill out before he'll see playing time on the college level.

Louisiana talent blossoms in 2013 recruiting class
By Scott Rabalais
Advocate sportswriter
January 27, 2013
Advocate sportswriter
January 27, 2013
In the Class of 2012, Dutchdown’s Landon Collins, believed to be the first Class 5A All-State selection on offense and defense in the same year, was the state’s top prospect — hands down.
This year, no fewer than four players can make an argument for that intangible yet meaningful distinction.
There is cornerback Tre’Davious White of Green Oaks, tabbed by Rivals, Scout and 24/7 Sports as the state’s best blue chipper. Defensive end Tim Williams of University High gets the nod from ESPN.
Kendell Beckwith, who like Collins last year starred prominently on both sides of the ball at East Feliciana, is ranked No. 2 statewide across the board, making him the most consistently high-ranked player.
And not to be forgotten is Neville’s John Diarse, Louisiana’s Mr. Football for 2012.
They’re all stars vying for top billing on The Advocate’s 29th annual Super Dozen.
“It’s a strong class,” ESPN recruiting analyst Tom Luginbill said. “You have more skill athletes than interior guys, which is a little unique (for Louisiana). You have Tre’Davious White and Kendell Beckwith, but you don’t have the Anthony Johnsons of the world, which oftentimes you get out of that state.
“But there are a lot of what we call athletes, who depending on who recruits them could determine what positions they will play.”
Beckwith, Diarse, White, Loranger’s Jeryl Brazil, Destrehan’s Rickey Jefferson and Washington-Marion’s Melvin Jones are just a few of the players who have demonstrated exceptional ability to play multiple positions, adding to the quality of this class.
“It’s a lot better than last year, and next year will be a step further,” said Mike Scarborough, publisher of Rivals website TigerBait.com.
To Scarborough, the ultimate test of this year’s class will be players like Kentwood safety Jeremy Cutrer — those who may be short on sudden impact but are stacked with potential.
“I can’t wait to see what he looks like in a year or two – What’s he going to look like even after a summer with (LSU strength coach) Tommy Moffitt,” Scarborough said. “He’s someone to watch out for as a real sleeper guy.”
The Class of 2013 may also be remembered as the year LSU began to reassert itself after what was mostly a frustrating year in 2012.
After LSU’s 21-0 loss to Alabama in the BCS Championship Game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the Tigers went on to recruiting season and watched the Crimson Tide cart off Collins despite LSU’s intense efforts to keep him at home.
Any optimism for a last-minute splash on Signing Day — like landing Sam Montgomery in 2009 — was dimmed by the 11th-hour defection of Super Dozen prospect Torshiro Davis, a highly prized defensive end out of Shreveport Woodlawn, to Texas. In all, LSU signed just six members of The Advocate’s Super Dozen, one of its smallest hauls ever.
As the recruiting season enters the stretch run, LSU has locked up commitments from nine players on this year’s Super Dozen: Beckwith, Westgate’s Josh Boutte, Brazil, Cutrer, Diarse, Jefferson, Jones, Barbe’s DeSean Smith and White.
Only Edna Karr’s Standish Dobard (Miami), teammate Noel Ellis (Texas A&M) and Williams (Alabama) have said they’ll take their talents elsewhere.
LSU also has three commitments off The Advocate Second Dozen — Denham Springs’ Tevin Lawson, Cedar Creek’s K.J. Malone and Winnfield’s Michael Patterson — and is pursuing a fourth, linebacker Duke Riley of John Curtis. He’s at LSU this weekend for an official visit.
“In terms of major priorities, they locked up everybody,” said Shea Dixon, recruiting analyst for 24/7 Sports website Geaux24/7. “Tim Williams is going out of state, but it seems that at some point LSU cooled on him.”
Going into the recruiting season’s penultimate weekend, LSU was poised to bring in a near-consensus top-five class. The Tigers, with 26 commitments and one junior college signee, were ranked No. 4 nationally in recruiting by 24/7 Sports, No. 5 by Rivals and Scout and No. 7 by ESPN.
“It seems, on their whole board, everyone they wanted they kept at home,” Dixon said.
When LSU needed quarterbacks, though, coach Les Miles’ staff had to look beyond the state borders and search coast to coast, coming back with Hayden Retting of Los Angeles Cathedral and Anthony Jennings of Marietta, Ga.
Both players were among eight early enrollees for LSU this year, allowing them to take part in spring football practice when it begins in March.
“There hasn’t been a top-flight quarterback in Louisiana since Ryan Perrilloux (in 2005) or Jordan Jefferson (in ’08),” Scarborough said. “There’s not one for next year, either.”
This year’s recruiting class also is marked by some of the most familiar names in Louisiana sports: Rickey Jefferson is the younger brother of former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson, and K.J. Malone is the son of basketball Hall of Famer and former Louisiana Tech star Karl Malone.
The national signing period begins Feb. 6.

I feel like the LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva, and head
football coach Les Miles is simply full of bull. That they have been
struggling to explain to us why the LSU college football program has
slipped back into the SEC pack. Now Alabama is the # 1 big time SEC
football program. Just because Nick Saban has out recruited, and out
coached Les Miles and the LSU football program coaching staff.
I now feel like LSU is second place to Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and I guess pretty soon, even South Carolina. So please quit the bull talk. Because I really now don’t believe them, or you, that keep writing to the contrary. “That the guys running our LSU football program are good managers.” Les Miles has failed to make LSU the # 1 football program that we the LSU football fans wanted. Even after he had a head start on the rest of the SEC, back when he took over the LSU football team in 2005. Les Miles can’t coach. And you know it. You guys are just selling a bunch of bull talk, and I am very tired of reading about it?

In your opinion, what are the odds of LSU making any coaching changes? Why do you think Luke Muncie and the other player just recently left the team? Do you really feel the players that are leaving early are doing so ONLY for monetary reasons? BE HONEST! Do you really feel like LSU is a solid, well coached, cohesive unit?
Just interested to hear your take on “the state of LSU football”.

I agree with Gerry. It is time for some of the LSU fans and Tiger
Rag readers to grow up. What would ANY mature, knowledgeable fan
expect Miles to say publically about the departures? If a CEO of a
coproration went to the press after his company lost money in a quarter
and said ….” our earnings are down … I don’t see why anyone would want
to come to our company and buy stock.” If a CEO did this …. the Board
would fire him.
What does anyone expect Miles to say with respect to the departures?
O.K., Tiger Gumbo, you said (after the Alabama game) that maybe you should be coaching LSU. So, what would you say at your press conference (as LSU coach) say after the departures are announced?? Here is it … from Tiger Gumbo..” Well a lot of players have left. Our team is in disarray. If I were one of you 4 star recruits … I would not come here. We cannot teach you anything to improve your skills …. and we will not win any games next year. So, you should go somewhere else.”
Go for it, Tiger Gumbo. Write your press release. We are in the middle of recruiting. What would you say? What would Saban say … since he appears to be your idea of perfect coach. Oh, by the way …. you can give us your ….”the administration did not do enough to keep Saban here ” speach again.

Let me see, how can I rebuff the negativity in the quickest fashion? Ok, we were one play away from playing for the SEC championship and therefore the National Championship….for the second year in a row!!!!! If Mills does as instructed and simply stands there in front of Yeldon, instead of taking it upon himself to blitz the qb and leave Yeldon wide open, good chance we win that game and are in the SEC championship game…one play. All Yeldon did was stand there and turn around. Mills was supposed to stand there with him and force McCarron to simply throw the ball into the dirt. Play over, no TD, maybe they get a field goal to tie, but we ALL know, that with bama, that sure as heck aint a given. Just one play between loss and victory and yet, you two yahoos would instead have us believe the program is dying, fading into the distance, …disaster all around.
Unbelievable, guys, you are just unbelievable in your lack of knowledge and objectivity.

Les Miles can’t coach. (AEK) From the horse’s mouth:

“We felt like with Jordan Jefferson’s speed and ability to move and get
out of the rush, it was fair that he finish the game,” Miles said. “As
much as I would have liked to put Jarrett (Lee) in, I felt like it would
be unfair to him with the pass rush he would sustain.”

Brian Coody, if you really believe this team was one play away from going to the NC game you need to go to detox or something. This was one of the worst coached teams in LSU history. You can contiue to make excuses for Miles & crew but the facts can’t be disputed.
The lack of an offensive scheme, the lack of discipline, the unbelieveable inconsistency from week to week, the penalties, the lack of a burning desire to win EVERY WEEK, etc., etc. is a DIRECT REFLECTION on the coaching staff, expecially Miles. If you think finishing in the bottom third of the nation for the last 5 years in total offense, passing ypg &total ypg is OK then, by all means, this program is in great shape! Great job Miles!
TigerGumbo on January 24th, 2013 7:53 am
Well, ha ha ha. The thing about recruiting is that you need to
get better football players then your opponents. What the chances are
that you recruit the very best football players in America? Multiplied
by thousand of college football program across our country. And you
begin to get a realistic picture of just what your favorite college
football teams chance of doing that are. The better winning football programs are rolling along on
top of the recruiting game, because that is their history of doing just
that.
Now the SEC has a dynasty going on in the presents of Alabama. Les Miles help put Nick Saban into that rare reality by not being a good college football coach. If Les Miles was worth his salt, LSU would have beat Nick Saban high ambitions back. And simply put the shoe on the other guys foot. Namely Nick Saban. But the truth won out. And Saban is flying high and LSU at best is threading water.
Wow, are you kidding yourself on purpose?
