Tinker:
Is the main street news media so racist that they are going to keep letting Barack Obama slide because he is a black man?
Barack
Obama has not put aside his politics for one single day since he was
sworn into the presidency. Everything about the White House has be used
to further his personal political ideas concerning the United States
federal government. Is the main street news media so racist that they are going to keep letting Barack Obama slide because he is a black man?
So just look at what the main street news media is talking about, and how they are talking about it. Now we see the U.S. Senate changing the Senate protocol to give Obama more absolute power, putting aside the U.S. Senate filibuster so Obama can choose judicial federal government court appointments free from Senate oversight.

At 1:30 p.m., the 15th ranked LSU football team will conclude its 2013 regular season with the traditional “Battle for the Boot” against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Today’s game will mark the 59th time the two teams meet, with the Tigers holding a 36-20-2 advantage in the series. LSU won the game (and possession of the 24-karat trophy molded into the shape of Louisiana and Arkansas) last year by one touchdown in Fayetteville, and is 13-6 vs. Arkansas since the Hogs joined the league in 1992. The Tigers and the Hogs have played on the Friday after Thanksgiving for 15 out of the last 17 years, but that will come to an end next year as LSU will play at Arkansas on November 15 and then at Texas A&M on Thanksgiving Day.
In today’s game, the Tigers will be trying to wrap of its regular season on a high note and prove that last week’s performance against the Aggies was no fluke, and I think they’ll do that as long as they take care of the following keys to victory.
Don’t Underestimate the Razorbacks
The Razorbacks are riding an eight-game losing streak and are winless in the SEC this season. It would be easy to take them for granted, but that would be a huge mistake. For Arkansas, this is their bowl game and last chance for some measure of success in Bret Bielema’s first year as head coach. The Razorbacks will give it their all, and the Tigers must do the same.
Stop the Run
The strength the Razorbacks is their running game which is supported by a huge offensive line. LSU's defensive front will have to play strong and limit Arkansas’ success on first and second down to force them into some obvious passing situations. The Razorbacks’ passing game is not very good (117th in the country), and their third-down conversion rate is only 41.7% (53rd).
Play Loose, but Disciplined
This will be the last game in Tiger Stadium for several players, and there will be a lot of excitement and emotion on display. That’s great and how it should be, as long as it doesn’t lead to silly penalties and turnovers which could quickly spoil the party.
Air It Out (a Bit)
Arkansas’ defensive secondary is very porous and ranks 77th in the country. I'm not saying LSU should abandon the style of power football that worked so well against A&M last week, but I do hope they take a few more shots downfield. This will likely be Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry’s last game in Tiger Stadium, and of course it will be Zach Mettenberger’s as well. I’d like to see them make it a memorable one. Really, this should be a memorable game for Mettenberger regardless of whether or not he puts up huge numbers as he only needs only 74 passing yards to become the third player in LSU history to pass for 3,000 yards in a season.
With this being a Friday, I realize that many of you will not be able to watch the midday game due to work obligations, so please note that you can follow @dandydonlsu on Twitter for periodic score updates, stats and comments.
In basketball news, LSU came away with an impressive 82-65 win over a good St. Joe's team last night in quarterfinal action of the Old Spice Classic. The first eight minutes of the game were tight, but then LSU went on a 20-5 run to lead 36-22 at the 6:55 mark, thanks in large part to Shavon Coleman who came in off the bench and hit a couple of big threes. The Tigers took a 46-30 lead into the break and quickly extended it to 51-30 in the opening minutes of the second half after a nice three-pointer by Jerrell Martin and a JOB III dunk. St. Joe’s battled back to pull within 10, but the Tigers answered with a three-pointer by Anthony Hickey and a jumper by Andre Stringer to quickly go back up by 15, and from that point on they maintained a solid double-digit lead. The Tigers ended the game making six-of-six free throws to secure the win.
The Tigers shot 52.6% (30-of-57) from the field, made 10-of-22 (45.5%) from three-point range, and was 12-of-15 (80%) from the free throw line. Andre Stringer led all Tigers in scoring with 18 points and dished out six assists. Freshman sensation Jarell Martin tacked on 15 points by shooting 4-of-5 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line. Jordan Mickey secured his fourth double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Johnny O’Bryant had a nice overall outing and ended with 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block. Anthony Hickey started at point guard for the second game in a row after yielding to freshman Tim Quarterman for the first three games of the season, and tallied nine points and three assists. Shavon Coleman garnered eight first-half points for the Tigers.
With the win, LSU (4-1) advanced to face No. 21 Memphis in today’s semifinal round of the tournament. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 p.m. CT and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
