Bull talking people are not harmless;

Tinker

For the good of the children ladies and gentlemen - vote these guys in Washington DC out of office, please!

Every time I see grown ups using the poor children behind the veil of teaching them lessons, taking that opportunity just for the grown ups pent up ambitions, using the poor children as a convenient experiment. I get very mad at them and simply want to punch their light out.

I was looking at a TV morning show about Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) who wants to make the poor children who are going to school, to pay a nickel, or dime, for the free lunch that they are getting at the school that the poor children are attending. Teaching the poor children to better appreciate the free food that the school was providing the poor children.

Good grief! Don't you just hate the sleazy low down people who come up with bull talk like that. Remember the image of the stern taskmaster using cruel and unusual punishment against the poor children in the reform schools back in the history of humankind's sadistic schools.

Well what is the difference from the then sadistic schools, until the now sadistic schools. Using children who are poor and can't pay for their lunch, because their parents don't make enough money.

If one of you out there knows Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) go ahead and punch him right in the mouth.

Rep. Jack Kingston Proposes That Poor Students Sweep Floors In Exchange For Lunch

Posted: 12/18/2013 3:20 pm EST

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) wants kids to learn early in life that there's no such thing as a free lunch. To make sure they absorb that lesson, he's proposing that low-income children do some manual labor in exchange for their subsidized meals.

On Saturday, Kingston, who is vying to be his party's nominee in Georgia's Senate race next year, spoke at a meeting of the Jackson County Republican Party about the federal school lunch program.

Under that program, children from families with incomes at or below 130 percent of the poverty line are eligible for free meals. Students from families with incomes between 130 percent and 185 percent of the poverty level can receive lunches at reduced prices.

But on Saturday, Kingston came out against free lunches, saying that children should have to pay at least a nominal amount or do some work like sweeping cafeteria floors.

"But one of the things I’ve talked to the secretary of agriculture about: Why don’t you have the kids pay a dime, pay a nickel to instill in them that there is, in fact, no such thing as a free lunch? Or maybe sweep the floor of the cafeteria -- and yes, I understand that that would be an administrative problem, and I understand that it would probably lose you money. But think what we would gain as a society in getting people -- getting the myth out of their head that there is such a thing as a free lunch," he said.

PAYOLA-BOOK: No professional blowback for sponsor-fluffing Mike Allen — LEIBO on ALLEN: ‘enabler’ — Business lobby agenda pushed daily — “Beyond parody” — Something about JOE SCARBOROUGH for some reason

EXCLUSIVE — “Mike Allen is the biggest hack in the country, by Alex Pareene: “Mike Allen, Politico’s superstar email newsletter author, has never been anyone’s idea of a hard-charging, truth-to-power journalist, but as he’s built PLAYBOOK into an elite Washington institution, he’s become effectively indistinguishable from a paid advocate for business interests. … He promotes causes favored by wealthy corporate executives, promotes the nonprofits and PACs and interest groups those executives fund, and promotes the politicians who agree with the corporate agenda. And he does all of this each day in the guise of a simple emailed tipsheet of links to major political news stories.

… “For Allen, a source is indistinguishable from a friend and both are indistinguishable from sponsors. The result is a daily exercise in favor-trading carried out by people using him as a conduit and people using him as an unpaid spokesman.”

TOP TALKER: “Politico’s Mike Allen, Native Advertising Pioneer,” by Erik Wemple: “Politico’s archives yield plenty of examples of Allen going to bat for the site’s advertisers. Turning up examples of hard-nosed pieces on these companies and special interests is a more complicated undertaking….As for outright negative stuff on these organizations, that tends to be harder to dig up. We spent hours searching for such examples and even deployed an outside researcher for further bandwidth; we also asked Politico to send examples wherein Allen takes a harsh view of their agenda. They declined.”

“…So enticing is the prospect of dumping an announcement in the loving hands of Mike Allen that many PR types around town have gone around beat reporters at Politico in search of a little plug in ‘Playbook’ … Notes one former staffer via e-mail: ‘Reporters are sometimes annoyed to find scooplets from their beats at the top of Playbook. Sources give stuff to Mike Allen because they know he’ll reach a huge audience, usually more people than the beat reporters would reach with their own stories. And they know he’ll play it totally straight, not letting any dissenting voices muddy up whatever PR the source is trying to get out.’” http://goo.gl/V1f5nN

(Reuters) - Payment card data was stolen from an unknown number of Target Corp customers starting on the busy Black Friday weekend in a major breach at the U.S. retailer, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The Secret Service is investigating, according to a spokesman for the agency, which safeguards the nation's payment systems. Target officials did not respond to requests for comment.

Investigators believe the data was obtained via software installed on machines that customers use to swipe magnetic strips on their cards when paying for merchandise at Target stores, according to the person who was not authorized to discuss the matter and declined to provide further details.

Senate Passes Bipartisan Budget Deal – Here Are the 36 Republicans Who Voted Against It Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) explain their budget agreement (Getty Images).

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), chairman of the House Budget Committee, and Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), chairwoman of the Senate Budget Committee, say their plan will reduce the nation’s deficit by $23 billion and scale back the March 1 automatic spending cuts known as sequester.

“This vote shows both parties — in both chambers — can find common ground. We can work together,” Ryan said shortly after the vote.

The deal, titled “The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013,” will replace sequester cuts with savings from future-year cuts, according to the deal’s authors. It also sets the budget cap for fiscal years 2014 and 2015 at $1.012 trillion and $1.014 trillion, respectively. Prior to the bill’s passage, the budget cap for fiscal years 2014 and 2015 was $967 billion and $995 billion, respectively.

Buried several hundred pages into a new World Economic Forum report on global tourism, past the sections on air travel infrastructure and physician density (by which they mean the number of physicians per capita, not the mass-per-cubic-meter of individual doctors), are some very interesting numbers. The WEF has compiled survey data from 140 countries estimating the attitude of each countries' population toward foreign visitors.

The results, mapped out above, seem significant beyond just tourism. Red countries are less welcoming to foreign visitors, according to the data; blue countries are more welcoming. Click the map (or here) to enlarge the image.

The WEF gathered the data from late 2011 through late 2012 by asking respondents, "How welcome are foreign visitors in your country?" The WEF explains that the survey results are meant to help "measure the extent to which a country and society are open to tourism and foreign visitors."

The Tigers are no longer the SEC's most valuable program, thanks in part to the team failing to make a BCS bowl since the 2011 title game, but LSU's value is still strong thanks to a massive fan base.

Almost half of the fans at every home game travel to Tiger Stadium from outside Baton Rouge, and those visitors inject nearly $10 million into the local economy each home weekend.

LSU OKs ticket price hike

“There is substantial potential revenue coming from the SEC Network ... The reality is that if we go up on prices today, we’re not likely to go down tomorrow. We need to think about the loyal and working fans that have been with us through the good and the bad.” Scott Angelle, board member
Thousands of LSU football and baseball fans will have to dig deeper into their pockets to attend games next year and beyond. The LSU Board of Supervisors approved a policy Friday that will raise both parking and ticket prices for sports fans.

Only two board members voted against adjusting the rates.

The new policy means that tickets for 63,000 seats inside Tiger Stadium and 2,400 parking spaces outside the venue will be more expensive when LSU’s football team takes the field next fall.

It also means baseball fans will see the cost of prime bleacher seats go up by $25 while green and gold grandstand seating will increase by $100 starting during the 2015 baseball season.

LSU, meanwhile, will keep pricing the same on 8,000 seats inside the football stadium and reduce the price of 5,000 seats for season-ticket holders, from $400 to $360.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva has argued price adjustments need to be made if LSU is to keep up in the athletic “arms race” with other Southeastern Conference schools.

Without the adjustments, the Athletic Department could wind up with a $2 million deficit next year as scholarship and “fringe benefit” costs go up, Alleva said.

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report

In football recruiting news, just a little over two weeks after formally committing to Alabama, Laruence “Hootie” Jones of Neville announced on Twitter that he has decommitted from Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. His exact tweet was, “I just decommit from Alabama, i need more time.!” Obviously, this is great news for LSU, and what from I hear the staff feels likes the tide has turned in LSU’s favor.

As of now I don’t know what to make of the timing of Jones’ decommitment, but there are a couple of interesting coincidences worth noting. First, fellow four-star safety CJ Hampton (6'1", 195, Meridian, MS) is expected to choose Alabama over Arkansas today. Also, according to reports like this one that surfaced yesterday, LSU safety Micah Eugene has left the football team, making safety an even greater position of need for the Tigers.

I've heard from a few folks who’ve asked whether Jones’ decommittment would affect LSU’s recruitment of Jamal Adams, and my answer is no. If given the opportunity, I don’t think LSU would hesitate in taking both safeties, even though they already have a commitment from one outstanding safety in Ed Paris.

In other recruiting news, wide receiver D’haquille Williams signed with Auburn yesterday during the first day of the JUCO signing period. The news came as no surprise and Tiger Fans shouldn’t loose any sleep over it. From what I hear, LSU backed off on Williams’ recruitment because of his past discipline/character issues and the chance of upsetting chemistry with current wide receiver commits and/or targets. There's no doubt that Williams is a very talented back, but I think LSU made the right decision in backing away.

Hootie Jones rescinds Alabama commitment

A little more than two weeks after verbally pledging to attend Alabama, four-star safety Hootie Jones has apparently re-opened his recruitment.

The Neville High School product announced the news on Twitter.

-------------
Jones committed to Alabama at a Dec. 2 news conference at Neville High School, joining fellow Monroe-area high school stars Cameron Robinson and Cameron Sims in Tuscaloosa rather than playing in his home state at LSU.

After committing, Jones said he didn't officially make up his mind until about 20 minutes before he officially pledged to Alabama. Now, it appears LSU has a window to make another charge for his services.

Jones is the ranked No. 33 overall in the 2014 class and the No. 3 safety in the country according to 247Sports.

Including LSU and Alabama, Jones also holds offers from Arkansas, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Some schools appear to have used the 2013 college football season not only to win games, but to allow them to celebrate a great recruiting class in February.

Remember, this is not a ranking of recruiting classes—it's a quick rundown of which schools have been the hottest on the recruiting trail this fall.

LSU defense hopes to end a roller-coaster season on a high note against Iowa

By CODY WORSHAM
Tiger Rag Editor

The numbers don’t tell the whole story.
By any statistical measure, the 2013 season wasn’t a bad one for LSU’s defense.

The Tigers finished the regular season 20th in the nation in total defense, giving up 349 yards per game. Compare that to SEC champions Auburn, who won the league and qualified for the national title game despite giving up 423.5 yards per game, 90th in the country.

LSU was 17th in the nation against the pass, giving up 200 yards per game through the air. Opponents reached the endzone only 14 times via the pass, another top-25 statistical performance for John Chavis’ unit.
But by any statistical measure, the 2013 season wasn’t a good one for LSU’s defense, either.

The Tigers were 44th in the nation against the run, 53rd in opponents’ yards per carry, 60th in sacks, and 107th in tackles for loss. The inability to create pressure consistently led to coverage breakdowns in the passing game, while the inability to consistently get a defensive push against the run led to a slew of missed tackles by linebackers.

Perhaps no player sums it up better than Anthony Johnson. Johnson entered the season as the face of a promising defense, a former five-star recruit who had flashed brilliance as a reserve in his two prior seasons. Johnson picked up 10.5 tackles for loss as a sophomore, despite being LSU’s third defensive tackle, and looked ready to build on that as a junior.

In some ways, he did. He earned Second Team All-SEC honors and led the team in tackles for loss. He looks set to leave school early for the NFL Draft, where he is expected to be a second or third round pick.

But, like the rest of the LSU defense, he was inconsistent. He managed just 2.7 tackles per game, and only seven total tackles for loss.

"It hasn’t been a disappointing season for me this year,” he said. "It’s just been a rough one. I’m just getting overstretched.”

Perhaps overstretched is the best word for this LSU defense, which was really good at its best and really bad at its worst. The latter came in losses to Georgia and Alabama, which saw two completely different, but equally poor, defensive performances.

Against Georgia, LSU couldn’t stop the run early, but when Todd Gurley went out with an injury, the Tigers couldn’t pressure Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, who picked LSU apart for four touchdown passes to negate a stellar day from his counterpart in Zach Mettenberger.

Against Alabama, the Tiger front was pulverized by an Alabama attack that ran for 129 yards in a second half demolition of LSU. The Tide sustained three long drives to keep LSU’s offense off the field largely by running the ball right up the Tigers’ gut.

But at its best, the defense was excellent, most notably in a lockdown performance against Johnny Manziel. For the second year in a row, the Tigers limited A&M’s Heisman-winner to the worst game of his career.
The key in that game was actually not pressuring Manziel. Instead, the Tigers contained him in the pocket and used excellent coverage from its secondary to thwart the SEC’s No.1 offense in a 34-10 win.
Of course, Miles said he and his staff felt it was less scheme, and more effort.

"At halftime, [Chavis] talked to the defense and here’s what he said: he said, ‘Listen, it’s not the scheme. It’s the great effort and energy of the guys that are playing for LSU on defense,’” Miles recalled.

Scheme or effort, whatever LSU did worked.

"They have a very talented defense,” Manziel said afterward, "regardless of how their season’s gone.”

Whether that talent shines through against Iowa in the season finale remains to be seen. Which LSU defense will show up: the one that held the SEC’s best offense under 300 total yards, or the one that couldn’t get off the field against Georgia and Alabama?

The answer to that question will in all likelihood spell the outcome of the Outback Bowl.

Desire, determination, passion. If the LSU tiger defensive college football players really want to become much better aggressive people stopping the other football teams offense. Then they certainly have the right coaching staff, and the right college football program to accomplish all of that, and more. It is up to them. It is all out there in front of them - starting with Iowa!
