President Donald Trump said Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was present during an FBI search of Georgia’s Fulton County Election Hub because Attorney General Pam Bondi requested it, pushing back on claims her role was inappropriate.
Speaking publicly, Trump said Gabbard “took a lot of heat” but acted at Bondi’s insistence to review election-related materials, adding she was working to “keep the election safe.” Gabbard has also told lawmakers her presence was directed by the President and conducted under her statutory authority to coordinate election-security intelligence—authority her office says was vetted by ODNI counsel.
The FBI search, tied to records from the 2020 election, has intensified scrutiny over federal oversight, election integrity, and the scope of intelligence authority—issues likely to remain central as investigations continue.
