Tinker Town: "From our history books. The battle at Waterloo, Gettysburg, are regarded as the final turning point that decided two great wars back threw time. So they can be a simply reminder to us about the importance of what could be the football next encounter between LSU vs Alabama this November 3th. That SEC game could very well decide the strength of the victor for decades to come. The reality of these two football teams equal strength is very evident up until now. Most college football fans over the past decade already know about the feud going on between these two SEC football programs. Alabama has risen up again within the SEC to be regarded as the best college football program in the SEC and country. LSU has been flying very high over this self same years. Nick Saban was the head football coach who built up both football programs. Les Miles was hired at LSU after Saban went to go coach in Pro football. After a few years in the pros Saban decides to re-enter the college ranks by accepting a head coaching job at Alabama. Hence the two struggles began between LSU vs Alabama on the football field. A very odd twist of college football faith. Who will prevail is still up in the air, take a look at the record of Alabama vs LSU in this past decade."

MULÉ: Tiger Bait
Remembering LSU’s No. 20 … the other one
By MARTY MULÉ
Tiger Rag Featured Columnist
While most eyes in Tiger Stadium were half-closed with sleepiness Saturday night as LSU was literally holding the Washington Huskies in a drowsy slumber, Joe May’s suddenly went wide open. He looked over to the Southeast corner of the arena, pointed and said, “Look, they retired my jersey!”
He was pointing to the frame on LSU’s Wall of Honor containing Billy Cannon’s No. 20.
May wore the numeral as a Tiger in the early 1950s, the last player to do so before Cannon, the Heisman Trophy recipient who meant so much to the program it was deemed no other Tiger would ever have the number.
It was a little joke - and not the first time he had used it - but May really is one of those unsung heroes in the pantheon of LSU sports who deserves to be remembered. He played a role, unlikely as it may have seemed, especially at the time, in what we think of as the Tiger program today. Read more...http://www.tigerrag.
