Save your own soul where you are at the time you live. Victory is within you. If you truly want to see better, hear better, understand better. The lord is with you, who will ask for his help. The lord will forgive you of your sins. Just ask and you will receive.

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans,
First of all, I've got to congratulate Alabama for really putting it to Notre Dame last night in a very impressive 42-14 win. Alabama completely dominated the game, and as I sat there marveling at just how good Alabama is, I kept reminding myself that LSU was just one first down, or one defensive play, from beating them convincingly this season. Oh, what could have been. A few hours after last night’s game, the final AP and Coaches Polls were released and LSU ended 14th and 12th respectively.
Yesterday I wrote that eight Tigers had opted to leave LSU early for the NFL, and now the number has climbed to nine as Michael Ford has announced that he will join the fray. The good news is that Craig Loston announced yesterday that he is staying, and I'm hearing that Chris Faulk is leaning towards staying as well, although that is unofficial.
Many of you have asked what I think of all the early departures, and that's a tough one. I can understand Mingo, Montgomery, Reid, Logan and Minter leaving early as I think they will be drafted highly enough to make it worth their while. However, I can’t help but wonder if there's something else going on with Ware, Simon and Wing who have all had disciplinary issues. As for Ford, my guess would be that he might be thinking that he couldn’t improve his draft status by returning, knowing that he will probably be behind Hill, Blue and Hilliard on the depth chart at running back. To make matters worse, there are reports that Chris Davenport will transfer to Tulane, although I haven't been able to confirm this.
I've also heard from many of you asking whether all the early departures means that LSU can sign more players in this year’s class. The short answer is no, it does not. A team cannot sign more than 25 players in each signing class, although early enrollees can be back-counted to the previous year’s class if it didn't include the full allotment of 25. Unless I'm mistaken, LSU signed 21 players in last year’s class and has room to back-count up to four in this year’s class, meaning they would be able to add three more to their current list of 26 commitments. Later this week I will give you my thoughts on who the top prospects are for filling the three remaining spots.
Several of the state’s very best prospects for the Class of 2014 will be attending this weekend’s invitation-only Boys from the Boot event at LSU. After learning of how these players perform at the camp, I will begin incrementally revealing my list of Top LA Prospects for the Class of 2014 next week. On National Signing Day, which is February 6, I will reveal my complete list and I look forward to passing out copies of it during the annual recruiting bash as my father did for the last several years. In the coming days I should be receiving details about the Bash, and I'll be sure to post the information as soon as I have it. The event is always a lot of fun and I hope a large number of Tiger fans will come out to show their support for what's shaping up to be a very solid recruiting class.
Three of LSU's top commitments from this year's recruiting class were recognized by Rivals for their outstanding play in the Under Armour All-Star game. The three were Frank Herron (DE/DT, 6'5", 235, Memphis) who won their Bull Market Award which goes to the player who improved his stock the most, TréDavious White (DB/WR, 5'11", 175, Green Oaks) who earned honorable mention for their Lightning in a Bottle award, and Desean Smith (TE, 6'5", 225, Barbe) who garnered honorable mention for their Sick ’Em award. We can all look forward to seeing these three future Tigers step up and contribute at LSU in short order. Read more...http://www.dandydon.
