The TV smile's that couldn't hide their lying eyed - All of a sudden, after the game was played. Alabama was the superior college football team.

Tinker Town: "The TV networks college football experts talked after the BCS Notre Dame vs Alabama football game. With smile's that couldn't hide their lying eyed.  As Notre Dame was not ready to take on the ability of this Alabama Crimson Tide college football team, in this years BCS Championship college football game, Miami. Fl.

Only now after the game, am I hearing the TV talking heads say that Alabama skilled football player, were simply to good against the fighting Irish. Over and over again Notre Dame could not tackle, or keep the Bama receivers from scoring touchdowns. From the moment the BCS crystal ball game started, until the very end. Alabama 42 Notre Dame 14. The BCS TV college football game between Notre Dame vs Alabama was not close at all."

MIAMI -- The coach no longer wears houndstooth. The result is the same. Another Alabama dynasty.

No. 4 for Saban

Nick Saban won his fourth national championship, tied for second most all-time since 1936. Saban still trails Bear Bryant, who won six national titles.
Coach Seasons
Bear Bryant 6 ('61, '64, '65, '73, '78, '79)
Nick Saban 4 ('03, '09, '11, '12)
Frank Leahy 4 ('43, '46, '47, '49)
John McKay 4 ('62, '67, '72, '74)

Quieting the Irish by the first play of the second quarter, Eddie Lacy, AJ McCarron and the No. 2 Crimson Tide rolled top-ranked Notre Dame 42-14 for the BCS championship Monday night, locking up a second straight national title and third in four years with another laugher of a title game.

The Bear would've been especially proud of this one -- Nick Saban and the Tide romping to the second-biggest rout of the BCS era that began in 1999.

Lacy, the game's offensive MVP, ran for one touchdown and caught a pass for another in the final minute of the opening half, spinning away from the vaunted Notre Dame defense not once, but twice, to cap a 28-0 blitz before the bands even got on the field.

Lacy finished with 140 yards on 20 carries, coming up with two of his best performances in the two biggest games of the year. He rushed for a career-high 181 yards in a thrilling victory over Georgia in the SEC title game, and was nearly as dominant against the Irish. McCarron wasn't too shabby, either, completing 20 of 28 passes for four touchdowns and 264 yards, adding another dazzling effort on top of his MVP in last year's title game.

You could almost hear television sets around the country flipping to other channels, a hugely anticipated matchup between two of the nation's most storied programs reduced to nothing more than the second straight BCS blowout for the Crimson Tide.

"We've had a lot of really great football players who've worked really hard," Saban said. "Because we've had a great team, we've been able to have a significant amount of success." Read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=330070333

Cotton gets first finale, sources say

Updated: January 7, 2013, 2:46 PM ET
By Brett McMurphy | ESPN
MIAMI -- The Rose and Sugar bowls will host college football's first national semifinals on Jan. 1, 2015, with the AT&T Cotton Bowl a "prohibitive favorite" to host the national title game on Jan. 12, 2015, sources said Monday.

Under the 12-year deal, which begins after the 2014 season, the Rose Bowl Game presented by Vizio and Allstate Sugar Bowl will be played on Jan. 1 every season whether they are hosting the national semifinals or not.

During the 12-year contract, the Rose and Sugar will host the semifinals four times. In the years they aren't hosting, the national semifinals would be moved from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, sources said.

The only exceptions would be on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, and Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, when the Rose and Sugar would move to Dec. 31, 2016, and Dec. 31, 2022, respectively. If the Rose and Sugar don't host the semifinals in those two seasons, the national semifinals would be played on Dec. 30, 2016, and Dec. 30, 2022. Six bowls, also to include the Orange, will rotate as hosts for the national semifinals. The other three have not been officially determined. Sources told ESPN they would be the Cotton, Tostitos Fiesta and Chick-fil-A bowls.

In November, ESPN reported that those six bowls would be considered only for the initial national playoff game on Jan. 12, 2015, to expedite the selection process with the game about two years away. The remaining national title game sites will be bid out to any city interested in hosting the game, similar to how the Super Bowl is chosen, BCS executive director Bill Hancock has said.

Last month, Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany told ESPN that the Rose and Sugar bowls would host the national semifinals in the same year as part of the six-bowl semifinal rotation. CBSSports.com initially reported the Rose and Sugar likely would be held annually on Jan. 1 with 4:30 p.m. (Rose) and 8 p.m. (Sugar) kickoffs during the upcoming new playoff format.
