When we do good;

Tinker:
"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever."
- Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821)

That why I like college football because the football players are playing a dangerous game against some very hard physical obstacles. The competition of athletics in general create a moment of triumph that we the people get a thrill from. Together we make college football a lot of fun for both fans and athletics.
After all who want to go fight in a real life and death war. Sports is the next best challenge for the warrior in all of us. Life is the real struggle that no one truly overcome, in the end our rewards come from the good work that we leave behind. In that respect when people do good I become very proud and happy with everyone around me.

So let the games begin...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi69utdvDcA

Inspiring Cancer Fighter Jack Hoffman Scores A Touchdown In Nebraska Spring Game

It's basically impossible not to be on #TeamJack.

In one of the best moments of not just Nebraska's spring game, but basically all of spring college football season, a brave young boy battling pediatric brain cancer surprised fans in Memorial Stadium when the team called him out on the field late in the fourth quarter and let him run a play.

Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez handed the ball off to Jack Hoffman, a seve-year old from Atkinson, who after initially veering left, with a little direction, cut right and followed a convoy of blockers to go the distance and score the longest touchdown of the afternoon. Jack would finish the day as the Huskers leading rusher with 69 yards on the play.

The play (above) is a beyond inspiring moment that you can't help but watch without getting choked up. While we're all #TeamJack, to help the fight against the number one cancer cause of death in children, be sure to donate to the Jack Hoffman fund today and help find a cure for brain tumors.

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
The hot topic in LSU sports is the Tigers baseball team which defeated Kentucky last night 9-1 to secure the series win and give the Tigers their best start in school history at 29-2, 10-1. The win also marked the Tigers’ eighth consecutive SEC victory, which is LSU’s longest SEC win streak since the 2008 club won 12 straight.

I don’t want to jinx things, but this LSU team is really special. They’ve been playing exceptionally well in all aspects of the game and their only weakness, if they have one, is that their Sunday pitching has been inconsistent. Cody Glenn will get a change to show what he can do again today at noon in Game 3 of the series, but it won’t be easy as Kentucky has saved their ace pitcher, Corey Littrell (4-0, 2.17 ERA, 45.2 IP, 16 BB, 47 SO), for today’s game.

In last night’s game, Ryan Eades pitched 8.2 solid innings and allowed only one earned run on four hits and one walk while striking out six. He has now pitched at least eight innings in back-to-back starts and has allowed just two earned runs in his last three starts combined. Hunter Devall entered in relief of Eades to retired the last batter of the game. The Tigers’ bullpen should be in great shape for today’s game as only two relief pitchers have been used so far this series, including Will LaMarch who threw two innings in Game 1.

The Tigers really swung the bat well last night and collected 16 hits, including at least one hit from everyone in the starting lineup. Alex Bregman led the team offensively and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, extending his hitting streak to 19 games while improving his batting average to .447. It was great to see the bottom of the batting order come alive last night as Jacoby Jones collected two hits to bring his total for the series to five, Ty Ross collected two hits and an RBI, and Alex Edward went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

The Tigers will go for the sweep today at noon and the game will air on Cox Sports Television, CSS and ESPN3.com. It can also be heard on the LSU Sports Radio Network.

In football news, things are a little slow but will pick up soon as the team returns to practice Tuesday. In the meantime, here are a few interesting recruiting tidbits:

• LSU 2013 commit Quantavious Leslie, the big 6’4" JUCO wide receiver from Hinds Community College, tweeted, “Done heard the best news this semester. FINALLY got cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse. Now all is left is this Algebra class.” Getting Leslie cleared and on campus for fall camp would be huge for LSU.

• LSU 2014 commit Sharieff Raheed picked up an offer from Alabama this weekend but is still solid LSU. A lot of folks questioned LSU for offering Raheed who had been flying under the radar, but evidently Coach Miles is not the only big-time recruiter who recognizes his potential

• Five-star linebacker Kain Daub (6'3", 230, Jacksonville, FL) has committed to Florida State. You may recall that Daub committed to LSU last summer and then de-committed and opened up his recruitment in November.

Also, LSU announced yesterday that LSU fans attending the Spring Game at 2 p.m. in Tiger Stadium on Saturday, April 20 will have a chance to win prizes, including two tickets to next year’s Florida game. More info on that can be found here.

In closing, I'd like to give a shout out to the LSU gymnastics team which won the NCAA Columbus Regional with a 197.275 to advance to the NCAA Championships.

LSU Football 2013 - The Return

----------

4/6/13 6:10 am CT

Good morning, Tiger Fans,
It was great hearing from many of you about the updated LSU football depth chart I posted yesterday. I've made a few adjustments after getting a lot of feedback and I'll continue to fine-tune the work-in-progress as I see and learn more. The team will return from Spring Break next week and will practice Tuesday and Thursday before scrimmaging on Saturday. I hope to make it out to Tuesday or Thursday's practice so that I can give you a report on what I see.

In other football news, several LSU recruiting targets will be on display this weekend in Dallas for the Nike SPARQ Combine and Training Camp. These include most of the Lone Star State's top prospects like LSU commitment Ed Paris, as well as a few of the top-ranked players on my list of Top LA Prospects for the Class of 2014 like Cameron Sims and Laurence Jones.

The hot topic in LSU sports news at this time is the red-hot No. 2 LSU baseball team, which really put it on the No. 7 Kentucky Wildcats last night with a double-digit win, 11-1. With the win, the Tigers improved their record to 28-2, 9-1. This is only the second time in school history that LSU has won 28 of its first 30 games. The other was in 1986.

The Tigers played like the best team in the nation and were outstanding in all aspects of the game - offense, defense, and pitching. Aaron Nola got the start on the mound for the Tigers and threw very well, limiting the Wildcats to only one run on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in seven solid innings of pitching. Will LaMarch pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

On defense, one player who deserves special recognition is freshman centerfielder Mark Laird from Ouachita Christian HS in Monroe. Laird may two spectacular catches. In the first inning, he made a leaping catch against the fence to prevent an extra-bases hit, and in the 3rd he covered about 200 feet to make a diving catch in right field after right fielder Sean McMullen lost the ball in the lights.

On offense, it was great to see Ty Ross and Jacoby Jones break out of their slumps and collect a combined five hits on the night. Ross ended the night 2-for-3 while Jones went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Nine Tigers collected hits in the game as LSU out-hit Kentucky 14-5. Alex Bregman and Mason Katz, the team's top-two hitters, continued their success at the plate and each ended 1-for-3 with two RBI. Bregman's RBI triple in the 7th extended his hitting streak to 18 games.

The Tigers will go for the series win in Game 2 tonight at 6:30. Junior right-hander Ryan Eades (6-0, 1.35 ERA, 46.2 IP, 12 BB, 45 SO) will get the start for LSU while Kentucky will counter with southpaw Jerad Grundy (5-2, 2.15 ERA, 46.0 IP, 13 BB, 42 SO). Just like last night's game, tonight's will be televised by CST, as will Game 3 tomorrow at noon. If the Tigers win the series, they will almost certainly be ranked No. 1 when the new polls are released Monday.

In closing, I'd like to remind you that it's the time of year for crawfish boils and several LSU alumni associations will be having theirs soon. (You can check out our list of LSU Alumni Association Crawfish Boils here.)

Another reminder: The 2013 LSU Tiger Tour will begin soon with its first stop being in Shreveport/Bossier on April 22. Below is the complete schedule.
