Transparency: WH Holds Benghazi Briefing ... Off-the-Record
In the White House’s latest efforts at transparency, the administration announced to reporters that it would brief reporters on the latest shocking developments about the Benghazi situation … behind closed doors. Politico reports that the meeting started at approximately 12:45 PM ET, and that it moved the normal press briefing to 1:45 PM ET. Jay Carney, White House press secretary, did not comment on whether the meeting took place.
The off-the-record session was announced to reporters in the wake of an ABC News report
showing that White House and State Dept. officials were involved in
revising the now-discredited CIA talking points about the attack on
Benghazi.
The
administration routinely exerts pressure on reporters it feels are not
kind enough in their coverage. Reporters like Cheryl Attkisson of CBS
News have felt the hand
of their bosses for “wading dangerously close to advocacy” with regard
to Benghazi. No doubt this “off-the-record” meeting was designed to get
all the president’s horses and all the president’s men to put the
Benghazi humpty dumpty together again.
UPDATE: Reporters not invited to the off-the-record briefing are reportedly incredibly unhappy about it:
Ben Shapiro is Editor-At-Large of Breitbart News and author of the New York Times bestseller “Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America” (Threshold Editions, January 8, 2013).

Dandy Don's LSU Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans,
Before getting to LSU's baseball game last night, I'm happy to report that Coach Miles picked up a huge football commitment last night from JUCO wide receiver D'haquille Williams. Originally from Reserve, Louisiana, Williams (6'3", 213) was a dominating player in high school at East St. John High, but academics forced him to join the JUCO ranks where he dominated as well. In fact, 247Sports’ has Williams as the highest ranked JUCO wide receiver in the country. Last season at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Williams had 67 receptions for 1,295 yards and 18 touchdowns and was a first-team NJCAA All-American. He chose LSU over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas, Florida State, USC and several others. With Williams’ pledge, LSU now has 10 commitments for 2014 and is ranked No. 2 in 247Sports' Composite Team Rankings.
In other news, I thought a lot of you would be interested in this article by Nola.com about the number of Tiger football players who have been arrested in the last three years. When we think of Jeremy Hill, Tyrann Mathieu, Jordan Jefferson and all the Tigers who have made negative headlines in the last three years, it's easy to assume that something must be terribly wrong at LSU. But when you look at the tallies listed in this article, you see that LSU isn't in a unique situation. In fact, LSU is in the lower-half of the conference in arrest totals with six since 2010. Florida and Missouri are at the top of the list with 17 a piece (plus Missouri had two coaches arrested). The only SEC teams with fewer arrests since 2010 are Vanderbilt with one and Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Mississippi State with five each. It is worth noting that the list only includes players arrested while a member of the team and therefore excludes LSU’s Mathieu and Jefferson who were arrested last October for possession of marijuana. Hopefully this thread will take off and people can tell some good facts about LSU that aren't very well known.
I'll give a few to kick it off.
Mike VI, LSU's live tiger mascot, is visited by more than 100,000 people annually.
LSU is the one of the few universities in the country to offer a minor in French with an emphasis on Cajun French.
The LSU Memorial Tower, or the campanelle – Italian for little bell - was one of the first structures completed on the present campus. It was built in 1923 and dedicated in 1926 as a memorial to those who gave their lives during World War I.
During the 1930s, many of LSU's live oaks and magnolia trees were planted by landscape artist Steele Burden. The live oak trees on LSU's campus have been valued at $50 million. Through the LSU Foundation's "Endow an Oak" program, individuals and groups are able to endow live oaks across campus.
The LSU Indian mounds are located near the northwest corner of the campus. The two mounds were created by Native Americans more than 5,000 years ago and functioned as territorial markers or symbols of group identity. In 1999, the mounds, which are a part of a larger mound group throughout the state are older than any in North America, Mesoamerica or South America and predate the construction of the great Egyptian pyramids, were placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

This is really cool. It kind of puts into perspective how dumb the people are that complain about their kids not being able to slide down the mounds on cardboard boxes because we're trying to preserve them.

After signing Hayden Rettig and Anthony Jennings in the 2013 class, the Tigers were eying one quarterback for 2014. They want to get a commitment at the position sooner rather than later.
Harris, No. 31 in the Nifty 50, has an affinity for Arkansas and the Hogs are a contender for his services, as are Ohio State, Texas A&M and others. Don't be surprised if Harris makes a quick move for the Tigers. Cameron pushed for a commitment this week and Harris was pretty receptive. according to sources.
SEMINOLES PURSUING FRESHMAN: Patterson 2016 wide receiver Mykel Jones, who is only a freshman, received an offer from Florida State this week. The 6-foot, 180-pound Jones is in line to be one of the premier players in the state when his time comes. For now, the family is just going to take things in stride.
"We are excited as a family for Mykel," Mykel's father, Edward Jones, said. "He needs to continue to put God first, family second, academics, hard work and then football."
BAYLOR OFFERS MOTON: Calvary Baptist 2015 defensive tackle T.D. Moton received his first offer this week by way of Baylor. The 6-3, 300-pound run-stuffer has seen a large contingent of college coaches stopping by recently and will likely receive more offers through the spring and summer. Moton came in at No. 22 in the initial NOLA.com Top 25 Prospects List for 2015.
EAST JEFF'S RAYMOND HEATING UP: East Jefferson 2015 cornerback prospect Deshawn Raymond has seen a trio of scholarship overtures from programs this spring. On Tuesday, Raymond received offers from Louisiana-Lafayette and McNeese State, adding to the offer he received from Houston in April. The brother of LSU redshirt freshman cornerback Derrick Raymond is on his way to becoming a Division I player as well. Raymond is ranked 14th in the NOLA.com Top 25 Prospects List for 2015.
