Les Miles: Decision QB future “down the road”

LSU hasn’t made a decision on its quarterback beyond this season, and the Tigers are trying to get freshman QB Brandon Harris on the field, coach Les Miles said Tuesday during his radio show.

Miles, asked on his radio show why Harris receives 50 percent of the first-string snaps in practice along with starter Anthony Jennings, turned to the program’s future at the position.

“We’ve chosen not to make the decision on our future quarterback until down the road,” Miles said. “That’s why he’s getting 50 percent of the reps.”

I truly don't know how the LSU college football players can play a football game the way Les Miles want them too. By running the football right, left, or through the middle. To also roll out the QB to either side - to run or pitch. To pass deep, or too short, trying to make a first down. And to do that over, and over again with a QB who can't pass....How do they do that all game long, in every game? And what can the LSU fans say after using the word, “pathetic " to express what the Les Miles LSU offense looks like? Wow! This is truly incredible, and pathetic.

"Miles said Tuesday on his radio show that LSU is trying to get Harris on the field for some explosive plays, but not “encumbering” him with the full offense." -Les Miles

Does anyone really believe this rhetoric!?! The "full offense"?? LSU throws the ball more than only 3 other FBS teams and 2 of those are Option teams. Does this mean Brandon Harris can't hand the ball off to his right or his left!?!

This LSU team is loaded with talent, just take a look at the recruiting rankings for the past 4 years (freshman - seniors) and has the HIGHEST PAID COACHING STAFF in CFB and we should not be satisfied with 7 wins!! LSU has the most players currently on NFL rosters so, the talent is there and the fans are happy with 10 seasons?? We have an offense that cannot throw the football!

You cannot develop a QB by sitting him on the sidelines. Harris can run and throw better than Jennings - PLAY HIM and let him learn the "full offense" while he garnering game experience or we will start 2015 with the same exact problem as we have had this entire year. Take a look across the LOS and you will find a freshmen QB playing for TX A&M who has thrown more TD's in 2 starts (11) than Jennings has thrown in 11 games (9)... pathetic!!

Les Miles has finally revealed why Brandon Harris is not playing or starting at quarterback this year. He does not know the full offensive plays. He can not comprehend the whole thing, what ever that is. Sometimes I suppose when you are 18 years old right out of high school it takes a whole year or more to learn the whole thing. Good luck next year Brandon Harris, I am pulling for you. You are the best they got, and like Les Miles has said you have a great arm, you can run, and you are a competitor and are competitive. You have looked great at quarterback every time I have seen you play this year when the coaches have given you a fair chance, even in the spring in the spring game. Common Les, give Brandon Harris a chance to play in these next two games this year. When you do Brandon will come through for you and he will give the other ten players a chance to play their best. This has not happened in most of the games this year with what you have now at the quarterback position.

To be harsh and fair, Les, you could get a quarterback from Wal-Mart, a door greeter who could be better than Jennings. Put Harris in, let him go, he don't need a staff on the sidelines to give him the plays. He already knows them, 3 times up the middle and punt.
Seriously, a guy with the talent he has, he knows how to play football.

Every one knew this was going to be a down year (just due to youth). They should have been playing Harris from day one, let him take his lumps and get ready to make a run next year. If he does not know the whole offence, then adapt the system to his sthrenths not make players adapt to your system!

Eric, I disagree about starting him the whole year. I'm not a Jennings fan, but I still remember what happened to Jared Lee. If Lee had been able to sit out his freshman year and absorb the whole offense, study college defenses and get used to the speed of the game in practice, he might have been a great QB. But he was thrown to the wolves too early and it shook his confidence and he didn't get it back til his senior year.

Harris obviously wasn't ready to play in the Auburn game, and that's ok. But he's had almost a whole season now, to get up to speed and watch and learn, and I'd have no problem with Miles putting him in there now and giving him a shot. After all, A&M's defense is not Auburn's defense.

It's definitely a 'coaching thing'. Remember these coaches recruited these qbs, trained them, took them under their wing knowing the type of offense they want to run and the type that these qbs are capable of running. It's situational and personally i believe LM putting BH in vs Auburn tore down his confidence. That was the most ridiculous decision LM has made at LSU, and that is saying alot. He must have felt pressured by the media or fans but he should have stayed with his gameplan or anything but what he did. He set us back several yrs on qbs with that choice because these HS kids are thinking WTH. Oh well, still Luv My Tigers and thoroughly enjoy watching LM try to handle more talent than he can stand.

If Michigan calls Miles and I feel the odds are good...I hope he gets the hell out of B.R. He is an arrogant, egotistical man and it's his way or the highway whether he's right are wrong. And he's mostly wrong but more so incompetent. He will give up a Championship win because someone disagrees with him be a Coord or the fans. He's the big "boss"....good riddance Les miles the sooner the better. I would like to see Jim Harbough take his place.

what he is saying between the lines is that harris is not smart enough to learn the playbook.
