Chidi Valentine-Okeke just had to commit Thursday morning. He couldn't wait any longer.
He had planned to wait until Monday, but that was just too long for him.
"I had to commit," Valentine-Okeke said. "I had to go ahead and get it overwith. It was too much for me.
"I called the head coach (Les Miles) and committed to LSU and I am relieved. It is finally over and LSU is the school my mind was telling me to go to."
The recruiting process is a lot for any recruit to handle, but even more for Valentine-Okeke who just came over to the United States from Nigeria a couple of years ago.
He has had to learn about the life as a top prospect on the fly.
"It has been tough, but I know it is a blessing. I have just prayed to God about everything and He told me what to do.
"It was a tough decision, but I am glad I was finally ready to make it this morning. My mind is made up."
Alabama was the school in the lead for Valentine-Okeke a month or so ago, but Auburn is the school LSU beat out for his commitment Thursday morning Scout confirmed.
"I just love everything about LSU," said Valentine-Okeke. "Coach Miles was very, very happy when I gave him the news. I am happy too, to have my decision.
Valentine-Okeke is the No. 7 offensive tackle and No. 81 overall prospect in the country according to Scout.
