LSU defensive tackle Greg Gilmore hasn't made so much noise since National Signing Day three years ago.

The No. 1 rated player in North Carolina as a recruit has started one game and played only 17 going into his fourth year in the program.

But Gilmore was talking a bubbly blue streak on Thursday when asked about his 2016 outlook and the prospects for a defensive line that has been underwhelming the past two seasons.

Watch Ed Orgeron encourage LSU D-linemen in drill LSU defensive lineman work out with blocking dummies at spring practice.

Even the prospect of moving to nose tackle in the switch to a 3-4, which often requires eating up space on double-team blocks more than making plays, hasn't put a damper on his enthusiasm.
"I love where I play," Gilmore said earnestly. "That's a man's job. You're going to get paid a lot of money to play that position right. I like the scheme, I like what I do for the team.

"It's just like playing any other position. There's a couple more new blocks you have to learn, you have to rep them up, get a thousand reps in that same block until you master it and know what to do when you see it."

This new LSU Defensive coach seems to be making a difference already and if that does materializes into a better LSU Defense, the more power to them. How does that old time song go? About a kiss is still a kiss, and a sigh is still a sigh. The fundamental things in life are what is still very important as time goes by.

Les Miles has no handcuffs on Cameron.  Unless anyone thinks Miles told John Harbaugh to fire him midseason when Cameron was dumped with the Ravens.  BTW, there is 0 wrong with a run first offense...  LSU has it...Alabama has it...Ohio State has it...Michigan State has it...Michigan has it...Arkansas has it, etc, etc, etc.

Harris' inconsistency was the main problem at QB.  Once again the Dan Hawkins guy who used to be the HC at Boise State said the same thing when anyone tried to falsely praise Harris as "improving".  Hawkins on an ESPN broadcast of an LSU game said "Harris needs to show me he can complete the simple passes that most QBs have no problem completing.  Until he does that, I don't think he is a very good QB."  AMEN to that!

@Miles the Best I agree that in Miles system, run first is not the problem but in the plays that are being called within the scheme of the system is the main problem if you understand what I am trying to say.

@Rat Monster Yep, and I have said myself except it is not the Miles system....it is the Cameron system.  In case you haven't notice, Les Miles doesn't even have a play chart like any coach who is calling plays has...Lane Kiffin...Sean Payton...etc.  The main problem if you cannot pass is you have to use misdirection in the running game.  LSU employs almost 0 misdirection in the offense.  You might notice when LSU does run a very few of those plays, they go for big gainers.  2 long TDs by Dural and Chark on inside handoffs to a WRer....one vs A&M...one vs Texas Tech.  LSU needs to run about 7 misdirection plays of some sort PER GAME!  That would do wonders for the standard pitch running game.
