The night air was heavy in the early morning mist in New Orleans which was a nighttime kind of town with neighborhood barrooms on just about every corner along with the more famous Nightclub nightlife in the French Quarter and Bourbon street. The early morning time of day was Randolph's favored moments starting his workday because all the nightlife people were fast asleep.

He would walk five blocks to hop onto the expressway city bus so he could make his connection transferring to ride another city bus across the mighty Mississippi River going to his job each day. Clerking for a local big-time car dealer.

He could not help but notice that a lot of the neighborhood trash cans were missing the top of the cans as the Trash was scattered here and there. He knew of course that a neighborhood dog was the reason and how this dog cat and mouse game grabbing food from the garbage cans went on each morning when Randolph went to work.

He would laugh about this dog resourcefulness telling everyone riding the bus also going to work how resourceful that neighborhood trash bandit was by not getting caught and to this day no one knows the real identity of (Top Lefter) the early morning neighborhood track can bandit. Randolph nicknamed him "Toplifter" who is now in heaven these days along with Randolph. So I still remembered the stories Randolph told me about this N'Arlins dog on those morning bus rides wondering who Top lifter really was, and can't wait to get up there in heaven also so I can finely know the identity of Toplifter the N'Arlibns early morning trash bandit who was so successful at his trade in uptown New Orleans.
