It makes me want to cry.

And how I walked across some missing boards today in my mind's eye, leading me to one of my favorite restaurants, Fitzgerald's, placed on top of creosote pilings over the water in West End Lake Pontchartrain.

Seeing myself in 1947 playing the nickel slot machine of lights in the form of a flat roulette wheel picking a number with 10 to 1 odds.

Feeling delighted with that machine stopping on my number winning those ten nickles going back to my family sitting around the restaurant table ordering, stuff flounder feeling lucky and proud.

America's political liberal woke generation is trying to sell this society that 2022 America is still living in 1822 America when, of course, that is impossible.

My memory of how I was treated by people in 1940-50s New Orleans over the years growing up grabbed me like a thankful prayer to God's friendship, teaching me to appreciate the affections of other people living in reality.

Avoid betraying each other for shallow reasons stopping you from living when it is your time to live.
