McCormick, Dr. Oz In Tight Battle For PA GOP U.S. Senate Nod: Poll

Celebrity TV Dr. Mehmet Oz and former hedge fund manager David McCormick are the leading Republican candidates for the Senate nomination.

PENNSYLVANIA — David McCormick has a narrow lead for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, while former U.S. Rep. Lou Barletta has a slight edge for the GOP gubernatorial nomination. That's according to the latest Emerson College Polling-The Hill Pennsylvania survey.

In the Senate race, McCormick - a former hedge fund manager - was favored by 18 percent of respondents with celebrity TV Dr. Mehmet Oz garnering 17 percent. Kathy Barnette, a conservative commentator and 2020 congressional nominee from Montgomery County, received 10 percent.

No other Republican candidate received double digits in the poll.

Thirty-three percent of the survey respondents remain undecided, but Spencer Kimball, Emerson's executive director of polling stated that McCormick has a strong base of support across most demographics and that Oz "seems to lack a clear base."
