The one fun thing I like about living in Warner Robins, Georgia, is after 9 AM, after rush hour. The Traffic is better, and the road I am on brings me back into the 50s again - when automobile traffic was thin. And it was fun to drive. And we would cruise, not afraid of anything.
A nickel was 5 cents, and you could feed a family of 5 on 25 cents a quarter. A gallon of gas costs 12 cents. So by the time the fifties were over, it cost thirty-two cents. You could go to a movie theater for 15 cents. Buy a bag of popcorn for a nickel and a cup of Coke for a nickel. Get just as much as you have now.
The people were more friendly. Ave Maria, suffice their needs? They believed in God and trusted each other, and even the crooks had a standard about them. They wouldn't mess with younger children, shoot people protecting the City, and never steal from older ones. Driving in the fifties was a pleasure.
