House Divided Speech - Alabama has plan to stay atop college football as LSU lurks

GoldRing: When these guys die and go to heaven. They are certainly going to go to Hell."

Blank: " Why GodRing?"

GoldRing: "Because these politicians have been so sneaky, and deceitful, to the people who loved and trusted them. That when they finely get into heaven, and standing before the people who love them. They will be seen for who they really are.
Deceitful, lying, bubble crossing skunks. They will surly receive the Justice then that they so abused down here on earth."

Blank: " Yes, I have never seen so many people so divided within the same family, town, City. No one seem to be agreeing on anything, other then music, or sports.

Tinker Town: "We really do have a divided nation."

House Divided Speech

Springfield, Illinois
June 16, 1858
On June 16, 1858, more than 1,000 Republican delegates met in the Springfield, Illinois, statehouse for the Republican State Convention. At 5:00 p.m. they chose Abraham Lincoln as their candidate for the U.S. Senate, running against Democrat Stephen A. Douglas. At 8:00 p.m. Lincoln delivered this address to his Republican colleagues in the Hall of Representatives. The title reflects part of the speech's introduction, "A house divided against itself cannot stand," a concept familiar to Lincoln's audience as a statement by Jesus recorded in all three synoptic gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke).
Even Lincoln's friends believed the speech was too radical for the occasion. His law partner, William H. Herndon, believed Lincoln was morally courageous but politically incorrect. Lincoln read the speech to him before delivering it, referring to the "house divided" language this way: "The proposition is indisputably true ... and I will deliver it as written. I want to use some universally known figure, expressed in simple language as universally known, that it may strike home to the minds of men in order to rouse them to the peril of the times." GoldRing: " Why does coach Les Miles say the same thing over and over. quote, "I think that there's a real hunger and want to play, and start the season," Miles said. "Anytime you finish a season on a negative note you will turn to the opener, the beginning of the next season, with a real anxious (feeling) and want. I think that's very much the case here."

GoldRing: " Goodness scratchies can't he simply be more clearer about a new football season with another group of players. Something like - I expect my teams football players to come out breathing fire. Please, he keeps sounding like he has a limited mentally, subnormal.

Blank: " Spelled gracious not "scratchies" GoldRing."

Blank: " You have some nerve, talking about Les Miles grammar and speech GoldRing?"

GoldRing: " If I hear Miles use that (want) word again. Instead of,

verb.  wish - desire - require - need - will - lack - like
noun.  need - lack - necessity - deficiency - poverty - shortage
I am going to scream. Why does he keep overusing the word (want)?"

Blank: " Ha ha ha ha. I quit listening to Les Miles a long time ago GoldRing."

Blank: "He's crackers GoldRing, why do you let yourself get upset over a crazy person?"

GoldRing: "He is a odd person all right. but a good recruiter. A real delimar for sure."

Blank: " Spelled dilemma not "delimar" GoldRing."

Tinker Town: " Ha ha ha ha ha...Please stop talking GoldRing, I can't go on!?"

GoldRing: "I'm going to go get a Hamburger, chocolate soda - you coming?"

Blank: " Where?"

GoldRing:
"Mahony's"

Blank: "Mahony's don't make chocolate soda GoldRing."

GoldRing: " I know that Blank, I'm going to Angelo for that. Are you coming?"

Blank: " Yes."

GoldRing: " What about you, Tinker Town?"

Tinker Town: " Yes"

I thought Notre Dame would have been a little higher, but I guess they would need to be ranked to be overrated instead of just being hyped up by Lou Holtz
Kind of skewed too. Like the guy said, if a team dropped out of the top 25 he just gave them a rank of 26 since AP only does top 25. So some of those years that these teams plummeted would make it even worse.
And for you Abrell. Alabama is one of the more underrated teams with a score of plus 31 Smile
Oklahoma was preseason #1 in 2003 and lost 2 games. They were preseason #1 in 2011 and lost 3 games. In 2004 Oklahoma was preseason #2 and was SLAUGHTERED by USC 55-19 in the BCS NC game. They shouldn't have been in it. Auburn should have been in it BUT because Oklahoma starts out so high, if they don't lose, of course they don't drop and it didn't give Auburn a chance. People need to STOP starting Oklahoma out so high every year. It gives them an advantage that other teams don't normally ...more

One of them being to LSU in the National Championship game Wink

'Mornin Abrell!
To me, Oklahoma is the only other team that is more overrated than FSU. Like I mentioned earlier about FSU, out of the last 10 years, they have been ranked in the top 25 9 times and out of those times they have finished lower 7 out of 10 years than their preseason ranking.
Oklahoma has started out in the top 10 EVERY year for the past 10 years and 4 of those times didn't finish in the top 10. 1 season they didn't even finish ranked. Out of all 10 years, they finished lower than their preseason...more

I wrote a story the other day that addressed Jake Locker’s Heisman chances in part, but also the Heisman race as a whole. Within that article I noted that Boise State should be ranked very highly in the preseason, meaning they should be in the top 5. If they aren’t, then history shows us that they have no shot at the BCS Championship Game, no matter how good their season is.
So I was at the grocery store on Monday and saw a teenager wearing a Boise State sweatshirt, and I thought of the Broncos again, but in the context of college football rankings overall. Last season, Boise State was ranked No. 14 in the preseason. At the time, I, along with many others I’m sure, thought that this was way too low. Retrospectively, they proved that the ranking was indeed too low since they ended up finishing No. 4, which is great, but it at the time it didn’t, and still doesn’t, seem right.
