Les Miles met with us following the team’s final scrimmage of the preseason. Today the team went 1’s vs. 2’s in Tiger Stadium.
The focus was to bring pressure at Zach Mettenberger to see how he handled it. Miles was very pleased with his signal caller who went 26-36 for 336 yards and “a number of touchdowns”, some of which came in the red zone.
The Tigers ran for 218 yards. Here’s the breakdown. Read more...http://www.tigerrag.

US PresswireThe Pac-12 boasts some of the best defensive talent in the country: USC safety T.J. McDonald, Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei and Stanford linebacker Shayne Skov.
In the depths of their offices, some of the best offensive minds in college football are grinding.

Rich Rodriguez and Mike Leach are re-re-revolutionizing their attacks.
David Shaw is trying to figure out how to get nine offensive linemen, five tight ends three fullbacks on the field at once.

Five SEC teams in recruiting top 10
August, 22, 2012
By
Chris Low | ESPN.com
The SEC has five teams in the 2012 preseason polls, and three of those same five teams are in the top 10 of ESPN's latest recruiting rankings .
The rich just keep getting richer.
USC is No. 1 overall in ESPN's recruiting rankings for the 2013 class. Florida is No. 2 with Alabama checking in at No. 4, Auburn No. 6, Georgia No. 9 and LSU No. 10.
Nine SEC teams are currently ranked in the top 25 of ESPN's recruiting rankings, and it's always important to remember that these are only commitments. Nothing counts until that first Wednesday in February.
But rounding out the SEC schools in the top 25 are Texas A&M at No. 13, South Carolina No. 15, Vanderbilt No. 20 and Ole Miss No. 21.
Texas A&M already has 27 commitments for the 2013 class. Georgia is close behind with 26.
Florida has the most ESPN 150 prospects committed with eight, while Alabama has seven ESPN 150 prospects committed. Read more...http://espn.go.com/ blog/sec/post/_/id/48512/five- sec-teams-in-top-10-of- recruiting-rankings

BATON ROUGE - LSU held its last, and perhaps longest, scrimmage of the preseason on Tuesday as head coach Les Miles put the Tigers through 150-play workout covering all aspects of the game here in Tiger Stadium.
The "thud" scrimmage (no tackling to the ground) was used to simulate as many "game-like" conditions as possible and featured the 1s facing the 2s in most instances. LSU also spent time on all phases of special teams, including field goals, kickoff and kickoff return, and punt and punt return.See and hear more...http://www.lsusports.
