Look who's talking - TV and college football

Tinker Town: "I am very tired of hearing phony (made for TV conversation) that is totally out of place as we try to see and hear a good college football game on television these days. The game itself would be much more enjoyable if they would only broadcast the football game without their own two cents worth. The commercial breaks are bad enough stretching out the action between plays, like prophet for the damn. Jerking us away from the football game to spend our money and waste our time on paying attention to Viagra.

The college football game itself is the real attraction that has million and millions of Americans tuning into the football game in the first place. Not the slight of hand and mindless trickery that the TV network have been using to further gain our attention on them, the TV network, and not the game. When does to much detraction away from the football game because of the broadcaster self interest, becomes
just to much for even us, making the announcer TV networks repulsive turning us off and away from the televised football game? I prefer the announcer who is broadcasting the football game to simply give us the play by play, and leave their personal opinions out of the game all together. That what I consider a good college football game announcer."

Tinker Town: "These announcers and color broadcasters are coming in and out of the college football games on our televisions sets like movie stars using the football game as a background to them and their Networks. All that does is to make me feel like saying to everyone who listens is. Who cares what they know about football, I don't, I want to see the two football teams play football. I am not tuning into the college football game to hear about them, or what they know about college football."
"These are some of the names of the TV announcers that have been broadcasting our college football game. "Urban Meyer, Bob Davie, Craig James, Brent Musburger, Kirk Herbstreit, Erin Andrews, Chris Spielman, Dave Pasch, Sean McDonough, Matt Millen, Ed Cunningham, Mark Jones, Mike Patrick, Danny KanellRob Stone, Bob Wischusen, Brian Griese, Joey Galloway, Beth Mowins, Pam Ward, Mike Bellotti, ect."
The TV announcer that I don't notice, is my favorite.

Networks Could Pay Close to $500M a Year for College Football Playoff
Ratings Will Be Significant, but Don't Expect Super Bowl Ad Rates
Rich Thomaselli | Ad Age
June 27, 2012
College football is looking at a massive money grab in TV rights fees and marketing opportunities when it moves to a playoff, beginning with the 2014 season.
How much? Well, put it this way. ESPN picked up the rights to the Bowl Championship Series national championship game starting in 2011 with a four-year, $500 million deal.
That half-a-billion just might be a yearly starting point when negotiations begin for the new playoff.
The combined NBC and the NBC Sports Network 2012 college football schedule is comprised of Notre Dame home games, games from the Mountain West Conference and the 1-AA level. Highlighted games include Michigan at Notre Dame on Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Miami at Notre Dame on Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. (Soldier Field).
Here’s the link to the entire schedule.

Dandy Don's LSU sports Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans.
We learned late Friday night that 2012 signee Avery Johnson did not meet academic qualifications to enroll at LSU, and yesterday we learned that Fehoko Fanaika's arrival will also be delayed for academic reasons. Neither player will be on the team for the 2012 season, but both are expected to enroll in January. If so, Fanaika would have two years of eligibility when he arrives in January, and Johnson would have five years to play four. Read more...http://www.dandydon.com/

That Tharold Simon led the LSU football team with 10 pass deflections last season would appear to be a testament to his playing ability.
Simon says the stat is a mark of frustration, not pride. Read more...http://theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/3545368-123/lsus-simon-working-to-become

LSU Tigers lineman Josh Dworaczyk prefers playing much more than coaching

BATON ROUGE -- Perhaps no LSU Tigers football player was more tortured last year than Josh Dworaczyk. He was arguably the team's best offensive lineman going into the 2011 season, but a training camp knee injury put him off the field and into an early coaching career as the Tigers rolled to 13 consecutive victories before falling in the BCS title game to Alabama. See video and read more...

Q & A: Jarvis Landry|

Sophomore receiver opens up on his growth, physical nature

More of a special teams hitman in his first year on campus, Jarvis Landry (80) expects to carry more weight on the offensive side of the ball in 2012 (photo by Gail Chisum).

Tiger Rag Editor

Ben Love: The physical aspect you showed so much last year on special teams, how does that translate to receiver?
Jarvis Landry: It definitely comes in as part of blocking. I’m not going to say we’re a run-dominant team, but our physical presence, that’s demanded here. We’re going to run the ball. We’ve got six backs who can all run the ball and very effectively. You can’t say enough about the offensive linemen also. Read more...http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=214472
