TigerGumbo: "More efficient in the LSU offense is not too much to ask of the LSU coaching staff by the LSU football fans, looking for something that was never there in the tenure of Les Miles coaching the LSU football team. Seeing smoke and mirrors, and nothing more became very obvious. The proof is in the pudding."

As a Northerner by both nature and nurture — born and raised in New York, schooled in Chicago, happily settled on Capitol Hill in D.C. for most of my adult years — I never could have guessed that I would celebrate my 50th birthday as a resident of Louisiana. Yet here I am. I moved to Baton Rouge because my wife is from Thibodaux and already lived here when we married in 2006. And I’m enjoying it. See and read more...http://theadvocate.com/

Faulk injured, out for at least Washington
Miles gives three replacement options for Saturday’s game
By RICHARD FISCHER

The majority of Les Miles’ Wednesday meeting with the media revolved around another injury to starting left tackle Chris Faulk.
The junior suffered his second injury since football began this fall - both in practice - and Miles expects him to miss some time.
Miles did not comment on how long he expects Faulk to be out of the lineup, but he did confirm that the injury is unrelated to the one he suffered in fall camp.
“We had a little bit of bad news,” Miles said. “It looks like Faulk has a bit of an injury, and we don’t know exactly how bad, but we hope to return him to the game sometime soon. Don’t know the specifics there.”
Miles presented three potential ways to fill in for the missing left tackle.
-Josh Dworaczyk could play left tackle
-La’el Collins could be moved to left tackle, opening up left guard for Dworaczyk
-Alex Hurst could be moved to left tackle, opening up right tackle for Vadal Alexander

But while LSU fans want to know whether Mike VI will be in attendance for the Tigers' game against the Washington Huskies this Saturday, UW fans are wondering whether their team should show up at all. The Huskies go to Baton Rouge as 22-point underdogs, the second-largest underdog role for the Huskies during Steve Sarkisian's four-year tenure. (They were 36-point underdogs to Oregon in 2010 and lost that game 53-16.)
With a string of blowout losses last season to quality opponents, Husky fans are understandably nervous about facing the No. 3 ranked and SEC powerhouse Tigers. Last year, all six of Washington's losses were by double digits -- five were by at least 17 points. The image of Robert Griffin III and Baylor lighting up the Alamo Bowl scoreboard with 67 points is still pretty fresh. What might LSU do to the Huskies? Good morning, Tiger Fans.Last night I listened to the Les Miles radio talk show, and was pumped by Coach Miles’ enthusiasm for his team. Since this “daily dose” is already really long, I'll just give you a few key points I took away from the show.
In Miles’ opening statement, he said his team showed flashes of being dominant in all three phases of the game last week, but also made mistakes in all three phases. He cited the numerous penalties in the game (10) and said that the team is working hard to correct its mistakes. Next, Miles praised the many true freshmen who played in the game, including punter Jamie Keehn who covered for his injured Australian compatriot, Brad Wing. Later in the show, Coach Miles was asked whether Brad Wing would resume all punting duties this weekend and Miles said he would, as long as he remains healthy. Coach Miles really gets excited when talking about his Aussi punters, and at one point in the show he said that if he is given the opportunity, he would like to go to Australia himself to recruit more punters. With the success that Miles is having down under, I have a feeling there are a lot of other coaches thinking the same way.
As they do every week during the season, Coach Miles and Him Hawthorn named an offensive and defensive play of the week. The offensive selection, as suggested by Hawthorn, was actually two plays - the outstanding catch by Jarvis Landry early in the game, and Kenny Hilliard’s 36-yard TD run on the next play. Coach Miles agreed wholeheartedly. Later in the show they named Eric Reid’s diving interception as the defensive play of the game.
One of the more interesting calls was from Sonya of Lufkin, TX who asked if we could expect to see Terrance Magee play soon. Coach Miles answered with, “Absolutely,” and said he expects to see him in the game this Saturday.
Another interesting call came from Jim who said he’s already had one bypass surgery and wouldn't want Coach Miles to be responsible for another by continuing to throw that bubble screen that scares him so much. Miles chuckled at that and said the bubble screens scare him too, but that they’ll continue to throw it every now and then.
One of the last callers of the night asked if what we saw in the opening game was a vanilla game plan that was meant not to show too much. My interpretation of Miles’ answer was that the offense they ran was based on the skill set of his personnel and what the opponent offered, but he did end his response by saying that there was some vanilla to what was going on, but it was still very effective.
Although it was spoken of during the show, yesterday Coach Miles said that left tackle Chris Faulk will be out this weekend becuase of an injury he suffered in paractice this week. At this point it’s unclear how serious the injury is and how long he’ll be out. It’s likely that sixth-year senior Josh Dworaczyk will fill in for Faulk against the Huskies.

Huskies
Husky Football Blog
Times reporter Bob Condotta keeps the news coming about the Montlake Dawgs. The Huskies are off the field following their Wednesday practice, the last of the heavy installation days prior to Saturday's game at LSU.
The Huskies will practice again here tomorrow morning and then head to LSU.
And no, there no was no tiger there today, Sheena having moved on her way.
Today was our first chance to talk to Steve Sarkisian about the tiger's visit on Tuesday.
"Just trying to minimize distractions,'' he said. "There can potentially be a lot of them when you get down there with the stadium, the crowd, the heat, the tiger outside the locker room. So we are just trying to minimize the distractions so we can focus on the task at hand.''
Asked if he thought it worked how he hoped, he said yes.
"I thought it worked kind of how I hoped it would work,'' he said. "Guys came on the the field and stood around and stared at the tiger, guys took pictures of the tiger after practice. So hopefully Saturday when we walk out of the locker room we are not so enamored that that might be the first time someone has seen a tiger before when we get warmed up and get ready to play.''
Another issue for the Huskies Saturday is the heat and humidity --- the forecast calls for 89 degrees and scattered thunderstorms. See video and read more...http://seattletimes.

In so doing, Price put the country on notice: He can light up the scoreboard with the best of them. And following his lead, Washington could be poised to make major noise in 2012.
After a 21-12 victory over San Diego State in Week 1, the Huskies will have their chance Saturday when they travel to Death Valley to take on No. 3 LSU. Here's an in-depth look at Washington's chances of hanging with the high-powered Tigers.
