Tinker Town: "Improving the LSU offense into something that the LSU football fans want to see. That is the question that is now before this years 2012 LSU tiger football coaches, sports writers, and fans. By all comparisons, this LSU tiger football teams offense was just like last years LSU tiger football teams offense. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger was a slightly better thrower. Nothing more to really brag about from what I saw in the LSU victory over North Texas 41 to 14 victory Saturday night. Did you notice that half of the LSU football fans left tiger stadium in the beginning of the third quarter.
If LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger can't shine playing against North Texas State, when can he shine?"

Flash News: Senior citizens suffering in 105 degree heat with out help!!!
"Gatehouse apt in Jefferson Louisiana, has 80 very elderly senior citizens without electric power in 105 degree heat and after 7 days the electric company in Jefferson, La. Keeps telling them that they have no repair truck to help them. Forget about the hot football teams in college football, and see if someone with a human heart can help the older people in the Gatehouse, Jefferson La. - caught in that kind of trouble."

BATON ROUGE — In front of more than 92,000 Tiger fans, No. 1 LSU opened its 2012 season with a win over North Texas, 41-14, Saturday night.
Players and coaches admitted the team played sloppy at times, but more than good enough to win handily.
“We played dominant at times. We will get better and have that opportunity,” LSU head coach Les Miles said. “Imperfect but with reason to smile.”
Alfred Blue was LSU’s starter in the backfield and received the most carries and the most playing time, toting the rock 16 times for 125 yards.Read more...http://www.tigerrag.

CAREFULLY tear your tickets out of the new “Booklet”. I missed the
bar code, as did hundreds of others standing in line at the Athletic
Ticket Office. Creative gate personnel on the North End got us in. This
makes my 63rd year in Tiger Stadium. Thanks to Joe Alleva I almost got
sent home. Good job, Joe.
The “Booklet” arrived without a clue on the front as to what it was. Kind of like a book with no name on it. I thought it more ads to go with the media guide and other promos. I thought, They didn’t send my tickets.
FIVE pages in I found my season tickets. Then used sissors to cut out those for my daughter. Then, the email from LSU on how to tear them apart. REALLY, you design something that REQUIRES an illustrated instruction sheet… AND I STLL messed up. Thanks again, Joe.
Average ticket price for my cheap seats (aluminum bench, North End) $77.50. And they sold ads to make the “booklet” possible. This must all be a test.. how badly do you want in the stadium where the game is totally controlled by TV. Why am I not partying in the A/C, with food and big screen and comfy seats. Oh, that’s where Joe is.. in his Suite. I’d have to stay home, which is where I’ll be if I tear those tickets wrong again.

LOS ANGELES -- Although Matt Barkley and Marqise Lee
both laughed it off, the symbolism was tough to miss. On the first play
of No. 1 Southern California's first game after its postseason ban
ended, the veteran quarterback hit his speedy receiver for an
electrifying 75-yard touchdown.
Barkley, Lee and their talented teammates have been waiting two years for the chance to play for championships, and USC wouldn't postpone the chase even a minute longer. Read more...slightly better thrower

What we learned in the Pac-12: Week 1
September, 2, 2012
By
Kevin Gemmell | ESPN.comThe Pac-12 went 8-3 in Week 1, and we know a lot more about the teams in
this conference than we did when we all woke up Thursday morning.
Here's five of them.
1. It won't happen overnight : An uninspired performance from Washington State -- which fell at BYU 30-6 -- puts a bit of a damper on all of that excitement the Cougars had following the hiring of Mike Leach. The vaunted "Air Raid" offense failed to take flight as the Cougars managed just 224 yards of total offense, including minus-5 yards rushing. More stunning is that a Leach-coached team failed to even get into the end zone. Quarterback Jeff Tuel completed 30 of 45 balls for 229 yards, but averaged just 5.1 yards per pass and he also had two interceptions. There have already been some not-so-quiet calls for Connor Halliday to step in at quarterback, but the Pac-12 blog thinks that would be too knee-jerk. However, Tuel's leash might be a lot shorter in the coming weeks. Read more...http://espn.go.com/ blog/pac12/post/_/id/43944/ what-we-learned-in-the-pac-12- 3

What we learned in the ACC: Week 1
September, 2, 2012
By
Heather Dinich | ESPN.comHere’s a look at the lessons learned in the ACC in Week 1:
1. NC State isn’t ready for the big stage. Yes, it’s only the first week, and NC State typically looks like a different team in the second half of the season, but the ACC couldn’t wait until November for the Pack to make a statement. NC State had a chance to represent the ACC with a victory over Tennessee on Friday night and it missed it. It wasn’t just that NC State lost, it was HOW it lost. Cornerback David Amerson, who is supposed to be one of the best players in the country, was exposed for his lack of speed and burned twice for touchdowns. Quarterback Mike Glennon threw four interceptions.

What we learned in the SEC: Week 1
September, 2, 2012
By
Chris Low | ESPN.comWeek 1 in the SEC is almost in the books. Kentucky plays at Louisville on Sunday afternoon.
What have we learned so far? Here’s a look:
1. Alabama is still Alabama:
Nick Saban won’t be thrilled with the second half and how the Crimson
Tide eased their foot off the gas. Even so, an impressive performance by
the defending national champions in their 41-14 pummeling of No. 8
Michigan. They absolutely took apart the Wolverines and looked every bit
as suffocating on defense as they did a year ago. Dont'a Hightower,
Courtney Upshaw, Mark Barron and Dre Kirkpatrick might be in the NFL
now, but how would you ever know given the way the Tide played defense
at Jerry World? And on offense, while there might not be a Trent
Richardson on this team, Alabama has its pick of weapons and appears to
be just as balanced as it was last season. It's just one game, but it's a
game that sent tremors across the college football landscape. Read more...
