The TV announcers were all talking the talk

Tinker Town: "Ohio State, ran up a lot of points 56 on Miami (OH) 10. Who  looked like just another college football team. I mean, of course they did. South Carolina, and other football teams that we heard about from the sports writers before the kickoff, saying that USC had a chance to win the SEC. Not so much. Those teams like USC, playing on TV Thursday and over the weekend, did not look like college football teams that were going to really challenge for the title this year. Penn State lost to Ohio for goodness sakes, some kind of poetic justice I assume.

The TV announcers were all talking the talk, but the teams that we saw playing on television were really not walking the walk. To many mistakes, and not enough talent.
Over all, most of the college teams
look like college football teams playing just like nothing more or less then who they really are.

The better paternal powers college football teams like Alabama, LSU, USC from out west, were indeed looking like something else entirety. They were looking like semi pro college football teams that did look like they are going to be the college football teams that will play for the 2012 title."

BATON ROUGE – No. 1 LSU never lost power in its season opener Saturday night, but it flickered here and there during a 41-14 victory over North Texas in front of about 75,000 at Tiger Stadium just three days after Hurricane Isaac passed through town. The Mean Green, a 43-point underdog, found itself within just 24-7 at halftime.
New LSU starting quarterback Zach Mettenberger’s debut blinked on and off throughout the night as did he after a violent sack in the first quarter that dazed him temporarily. Still he completed 19 of 26 passes for 192 yards, including a perfect strike to wide receiver Kadron Boone on a crossing route for a 34-yard touchdown and 34-7 lead with 14:51 to play.
"Not too bad," LSU coach Les Miles said. "Imperfect, but with reason to smile. Now we have to improve."

Rabalais: Win aside, LSU must get better

September 02, 2012
The golden arches lit up the top of Tiger Stadium’s north end, the start of a new tradition at LSU in which that part of the old coliseum will shine like gold after a Tiger victory.
Inside Death Valley, the way LSU got to that win over North Texas didn’t exactly qualify as a happy meal.
It is a byproduct of the Tigers’ success in what has so far been a golden century of LSU football (and no, that’s not forgetting what happened Jan. 9 in New Orleans) that a 41-14 victory over an outmatched team like North Texas can be underwhelming.
The Tigers piled up over 500 yards total offense for the first time since 2007, got a pair of 100-yard rushing games in a season opener for the first time in 30 years and were never really threatened. Read more...http://theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/3791374-123/rabalais-win-aside-lsu-must

One the same day the Trojans will begin to celebrate the end of a bowl ban, new alegations have risen with the USC Trojans, as they pertain to two former star athletes receiving improper benefits. The Los Angeles Times has learned that Joe McKnight and Davon Jefferson have been tied to Scott Schenter, who is part of an on-going investigation within the Los Angeles County assessor’s office.
The allegations are contained among hundreds of Scott Schenter’s county work emails that suggest the former appraiser provided football star Joe McKnight with a car and an airline ticket, and basketball player Davon Jefferson with about $3,700 in cash. The Times obtained the emails from the assessor’s office under the California Public Records Act.
