What does Les Miles see

Tinker Town: "People that really don't know enough about working at there jobs to do the job right, need to study to improve their job skill. Why is the LSU football fans still asking question about the LSU football teams offense after 8 years that Les Miles has been coaching at LSU. Is Less Miles a head college football coach who can't really coach after all. Less Miles can't coach?"

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Les Miles has been coaching long enough to know that season openers can be sloppy, even for elite teams.
So for No. 3 LSU, a 41-14 victory over six-touchdown underdog North Texas was only mildly disappointing, but hardly cause for concern.
Miles seemed generally pleased that his Tigers at least had a chance to get a real game in on the heels of a disruptive tropical storm. Doing so allows them to make some evaluations - and corrections - and advance of a visit by Washington (1-0) next Saturday night, he said.
''I'm glad we had the first game. Lord knows we needed to play it,'' Miles said when asked whether Isaac, which canceled practice last Wednesday, had undermined preparations for the Mean Green. Read more...http://sports.yahoo.com/news/miles-sees-minor-correctable-problems-174048311--ncaaf.html

Unpredictable Les Miles a 'must-see' for LSU fans at SEC BeachFest

Dennis Pillion | dpillion@al.com By Dennis Pillion | dpillion@al.comGULF SHORES, Alabama -- Every SEC fan enjoys seeing his favorite team's head coach, but the spontaneity of Les Miles gives LSU fans extra reason to pay attention.

"Coach Miles is always a must-see," said Nick Zaeff, a senior at LSU who drove from Baton Rouge, La., for SEC BeachFest. "Every time he speaks, you never know what it's going to be like, so you always have to tune in."

Zaeff and three fellow LSU seniors made a weekend out of it, running in the 5k Saturday morning, and sticking around through the day's activities.

Although classes at LSU started last week, the weekend is one last break for the students before the grind of fall semester and football season starts.

"We have a game every week, whether it's at Tiger Stadium or on the road, and we don't miss games," said Alexis Rook, an LSU student from Atlanta.

Tiger fans cheered loudly when Miles told the crowd that LSU could be better this year than last year. When Miles was asked about the suspension of "Honey Badger" Tyrann Mathieu, one enthusiastic fan shouted: "We don't need him.

night, my advice to LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger would go something like this: Don't try to be too sensational. You're quarterbacking a team that can win games in a number of ways, with defense, by running the football. Don't shy away from throwing a touchdown pass. Just focus more on managing the game, on avoiding a game-changing mistake.
Properly managing the talent he has in his right arm could be the biggest challenge Mettenberger faces in what figures to be his college-to-professional journey.
Against the Mean Green, he made the best and worst throws of the evening. Read more...http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2012/09/lsu_quarterbacks_remembered_fo.html

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Zach Mettenberger could afford to miss a few throws in a less-than-dazzling first start.
That was apparent from the moment Kenny Hilliard's 6-foot, 231-pound frame burst through the right side of the line and rumbled away from the North Texas defense for a 38-yard score on LSU's opening series.
Hilliard rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and the No. 3 Tigers opened their season with a 41-14 victory over the Mean Green on Saturday night.

LSU rushed for 315 yards, and Les Miles referenced the Will Ferrell movie, Talladega Nights, in describing his team's rushing attack as "shake 'n bake," writes Gary Laney. Blog

"Imperfect, but with reason to smile," LSU coach Les Miles said. "We're going to have very, very good tailback play."
While the heavily favored Tigers were never threatened, their performance did not always thrill a Death Valley crowd that eagerly awaited evidence that LSU's passing game would be much improved with Mettenberger under center.
Mettenberger, who was briefly sidelined by a vicious sack, was 19 of 26 for 192 yards, an interception and a touchdown. But LSU didn't really need to throw in a game decided by its swarming defense and a running game that accounted for 316 yards, including 123 by Blue.See and read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=322450099
