Christmas:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxpgWkqlUvk...Charles Brown - Please Come Home For Christmas (The Original)

Tinker

I can't give you money, or pearls, or toys, because I don't know you well enough, and I would simply go broke trying to give everyone a Christmas present. And somehow the bottom of the well has run very low, and I think that I just have enough money left to spend on Christmas dinner. So the people around me can at lease have a nice Christmas meal after opening up all the Christmas gifts.

So I am simply going to try and share with you what I feel at this time on Christmas morning. My Family would leave the children open their Christmas presents on Christmas eve night, instead of Christmas morning. And us Children felt like the cat that ate the canary at Christmas time each and every year because of that, a little flair of mischievous fun.

The toys and gifts around our Christmas Tree back then was of course very modest, but also very nice and were the things that we truly wanted. Back in the old days Children wanted toys that were affordable. Not like today with electronic computer that cost a lot of money.

The years have come and gone for me now, and this Christmas is missing some of my most treasured friends and Family members, because they have passed away. My heart is somewhat feeling unreal like so many other Christmas days before they left my side. That they are not here with me is very hard to get use to, because back then if you saw me, you also saw them.

So on this Christmas Day like so many Christmas Days before now, I feel sad that I can't ever talk to some of the people that I love the most. And that leaves only us the people who were left behind to keep living because life itself always keeps moves on.

I have been loved and I have loved some very sincere people who were just about the best people in the world. They were very taken with me, as I was with them. We live everyday and nights of our life together. Close, very close in good time and bad. I can still feel the emotions between us reaching out to touch each other. That I can't in fact really touch their hand or face again, but that still does not stop my emotions that is still very strong for them.

They are gone in body only because their personality's and spirit is still within me until I also die.

That deep affection for my Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Wife, and friends, is one of the only thing in my life that never changes.

Lifestyles, and Fashion, Technology, Science, Medicine, and some Religions, change over the passing years. But my affections for the people I love never change. Their death only make me feel closer to the people that are gone away somewhere. Heaven perhaps.

Ah! We still have so many nice things in our life to love, Music, Theater, Sporting events, Science and Technology, our Religious belief's, each other.

How many thing and people in our life now can I list to simply still love again.

My younger Sister is the only family member left from our Father and Mother family who is still alive, she is deep inside my heart to share our memories with. Coupled with a few favorite nephew's, daughter in law, relatives akin to them.

Our Father, Mother, Brother, and my Wife, have all past away. I have my oldest Son who lives up in the frozen North, my Daughter who I live with now in the sunny South, and my youngest Son, who is married and only lives a few miles down from this home. All are from the union between my Wife and I.

I still feel very lucky in spite of losing some of my very best friends, and close family members. I am around my grandchildren on a daily basis, and I have the good fortune to still share this Christmas Day with them who are still young, 12, 9, and 6.

I also have some wonderful Grandchildren living with my oldest Son and his attractive Girl friend in the ice and snow up North. My Son's children who are Tommy Hill Williams 13 teen, agile, hansom and coming into his own. Daughter Nicole "Nicky" Williams 16 teen. Who is a very nice looking tall attractive young women getting better with age. They are some very special people to me, and too everyone else. My Son's Girlfriend has her own children that I have also grown to appreciate, and love. Connor Sheraki who has championed his courage against a bone marrow transplant, and with god's help is doing much better. And his star sister Brooke "Hollywood" Sheraski, who I just get the biggest kick from.

Like always! And just like every Christmas Day, what could be more delightful then that, right? Sharing the Christmas spirit with younger children.

What I have lost to death in the past, I still have a great deal to love in the present. The people around me now have taken on a more important feeling in my life. How can I say to them in words what I feel so deeply in my heart, can we ever find the words that is worthy of that kind of magic?

So with Christmas presents or no Christmas presents, through Sunshine or Snow, I love Christmas because of the people who loved me at Christmas time, and I always will.

Story of the year

By , Published: December 19 E-mail the writer

The lie of the year, according to Politifact, is “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.” But the story of the year is a nation waking up to just how radical Obamacare is — which is why it required such outright deception to get it passed in the first place.

Obamacare was sold as simply a refinement of the current system, retaining competition among independent insurers but making things more efficient, fair and generous. Free contraceptives for Sandra Fluke. Free mammograms and checkups for you and me. Free (or subsidized) insurance for some 30 million uninsured. And, mirabile dictu, not costing the government a dime.

In fact, Obamacare is a full-scale federal takeover. The keep-your-plan-if-you-like-your-plan ruse was a way of saying to the millions of Americans who had insurance and liked what they had: Don’t worry. You’ll be left unmolested. For you, everything goes on as before.
That was a fraud from the very beginning. The law was designed to throw people off their private plans and into government-run exchanges where they would be made to overpay — forced to purchase government-mandated services they don’t need — as a way to subsidize others. (That’s how you get to the ostensible free lunch.)

It wasn’t until the first cancellation notices went out in late 2013 that the deception began to be understood. And felt. Six million Americans with private insurance have just lost it. And that’s just the beginning. By the Department of Health and Human Services’ own estimates, about 75 million Americans would have plans that their employers would have the right to cancel. And millions of middle-class workers who will migrate to the exchanges and don’t qualify for government subsidies will see their premiums, deductibles and co-pays go up.

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report

12/25/13 5:35 am CT

Good morning, Tiger Fans,

Merry Christmas to all! I hope you have a great day with family and friends. On this special occasion, please take time to remember the less fortunate - the sick, the needy and the poor - and the many men and women serving in the military to protect our great country who can’t be with their families today. And, of course, never forget that Christ is the reason for the season.

With LSU set to make it's 14th straight bowl appearance one week from today, let's continue the position-by-position comparisons of LSU and Iowa that we started yesterday by taking a look at the running backs.

RB
I’m a firm believer that Jeremy Hill is one of the premier running backs in college football, but I have to admit that Iowa’s Mark Weisman is a special breed. Weisman is a violent runner that’s amassed 938 rushing yards and seven touchdowns this season, and Iowa, like LSU, enjoys rotating running backs to keep them fresh. While Iowa will pound away at the interior of LSU’s defense constantly, the Hawkeyes will likely use stretch plays to try and get Damon Bullock and Jordan Canzeri in the open field. Bullock is great at finding cutback lanes, while Canzeri’s speed and durability make him a nice change of pace. As impressed as I am with these three running backs, I have to give the advantage to LSU simply because Hill’s speed and power can be matched by only the elite in the game. It’s allowed him to produce 1,185 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Add in an explosive Terrence Magee, a powerful Kenny Hilliard and a seasoned veteran in Alfred Blue and it’s clear the Tigers have the better stable.
Advantage LSU

Speaking of Hill, yesterday I was reviewing his season stats and was amazed at how impressive they are considering that he averages relatively few carries per game (15.9) compared to most teams’ “featured” backs. Only three times this season did Hill get more than 20 carries in a game, and his most was 25 against Auburn. Those 25 carries resulted in Hill amassing a season-high 184 yards and three touchdowns and being named the Maxwell National Player of the Week. In spite of sharing the carries with Magee, Hilliard, and Blue, Hill still produced six 100-yard rushing games in his last 10 contests, including four out of his last seven games. With another 100-yard game next week against Iowa, Hill would join three legendary Tiger backs in sharing the record for the most 100-yard games in a season - Kevin Faulk (1996), Charles Alexander (1977) and Steve Van Buren (1943). That's pretty good company!

Tomorrow we’ll continue our position-by-position comparisons of LSU and Iowa by looking at the wide receivers, and then we'll review what an in incredible season Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry have had.

In news related to LSU recruiting, congratulations are in order for two LSU commits and several LSU targets for being named to the 2013 American Family Insurance ALL-USA high school football team. LSU commits Trey Quinn (WR, 6'1", 200, Barbe, No. 2 on my list of Top LA Prospects) and Garrett Brumfield (OG, 6'4", 260, University High, No. 11 on my list) made the first and second teams, respectively. Louisiana had a total of seven players on the list, which is the most of any state in the country. The other five Louisiana players include LSU targets Leonard Fournette (who was also named Offensive Player of the Year), Gerald Willis, Malachi Dupre, and Cameron Robinson on the first team, and Kenny Young on the second team. LSU target Tony Brown of Beaumont also made the second team. What’s crazy is that of the eight All-Americans listed above, LSU has a very good chance of signing seven, which would easily make this one the best recruiting classes ever.

In closing, those of you who’ve followed this site for a while know that from time time-to-time we step away from sports for a moment to take notice of those things in life that are more important. Today I’d like to do just that by sharing with you this simple Christmas message that my late father, Don, posted here on his last Christmas morning back in 2011. I think it’s a message worth repeating, and I hope you agree.

A journey back in time: “Dandy” Don Long’s 2011 Christmas Message

Christmas is much different today than when I grew up in Winn Parish with my Mom and Dad and seven brothers. We did not have very much money and I cannot recall ever having money in my pocket or even having a billfold to put money in. All the loose change we had went into a big jar until there was enough to help buy a few groceries. Mom would always buy us boys one nice outfit of clothes to wear to church on Christmas Day and would buy each of us one gift such as a Red Rider BB gun or a cowboy outfit with a popgun. Mom would always hang stockings on the outside of the fireplace for Santa to leave us goodies such as Juicy Fruit gum, apples, oranges, nuts and the like. Mom and Dad would always give each other one nice set of clothing, which would usually include underwear, socks and perfume or cologne. After opening our gifts, my Aunt Cloteal from Winnfield would ride out to Tannehill to pick up Mom and four children and bring them to PawPaw and GrandMa Smith’s house in Winnfield, and then would return to pickup Dad and the other four boys. It was only five miles from Tannehill to Grandma Smith's house, but it would take a half hour to get there because Aunt Cloteal would only drive 15-20 miles per hour.

Times have changed more in the past 76 years than most people can imagine. Today Christmas is mostly about material things and how much money a family can spend. My wish for all of you this Christmas is that you will remember the reason for the season and keep it sacred, give thanks for the many blessings in your life, and pay respect to your family and friends. For those of you who cannot be with your family, please give them a call and tell them you love them, and please make sure all the children take time out to tell their grandparents that they love them, if they are able.

Scott, you might want to let your readers know that CBS will rebroadcast the top-10 games of the BCS era this week. Here's the schedule.
