BATON ROUGE, La. -- Zach Mettenberger and the LSU offense are still searching for consistency as the Tigers enter one of the toughest stretches on their schedule.
Mettenberger connected with Odell Beckham Jr. five times for 128 yards and two touchdowns, but No. 3 LSU was unable to eliminate nagging offensive sloppiness in a 38-22 victory over overmatched but feisty Towson on Saturday night.

Mettenberger's scoring strikes to Beckham went for 53 and 27 yards, and LSU's quarterback finished 15-of-26 for 238 yards passing. Still, Mettenberger was sacked four times, missed some open receivers and a fumble he gave up -- one of three LSU turnovers -- led to the first of two touchdown runs by Towson's Terrance West.
West's first TD run gave Towson, an FCS team, a stunning 9-7 lead in the second quarter before LSU responded with 24 straight points.
J.C. Copeland, LSU's powerful 272-pound fullback, scored his third touchdown of the season on a 1-yard plunge, but was hurt in the fourth quarter and did not put any weight on his left leg as he was helped off the field. Read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=322730099

The college football season is only four weeks old, but the general feeling from most of the nation is there is a clear No. 1 team - Alabama. A lot will happen and plenty can change between now and the end of the season, but is LSU the biggest obstacle to another title by the Crimson Tide? Is LSU Alabama's Biggest Threat to a National Title?
David Fox (@DavidFox615):
Although LSU did not look great in a 12-10 win over Auburn on Saturday, the Tigers still appear to be the biggest threat to another Alabama national title. Any team that’s going to defeat Alabama needs to have an elite defense, and that’s still the Tigers. The road trip to LSU may be the only threat to Alabama during the regular season, but Georgia or South Carolina could be problematic as well in a potential SEC championship game. Either way, Alabama’s biggest threat would seem to come from the SEC rather than any potential foe in the title game -- assuming that opponent isn’t an SEC team again.
Braden Gall (@BradenGall):
A road trip to LSU on Nov. 3 is the toughest current game left on the schedule, but I am not ready to say that it will be the toughest challenge. Georgia, Florida and South Carolina all have defensive lines that match-up well Bama in a potential SEC title game with the Bulldogs also offering an offense that could put the Tide defense to the test as well. Florida State could provide an equally tricky match-ups should they all get to the national title game. But my pick for the national title game was Alabama and Oregon this summer, so the Ducks are in the mix as well. If I had to rank "biggest threats" to Alabama's third national title in four years: 1) Georgia in SEC title game 2) Oregon or Florida State in the BCS title game 3) LSU. Huskies shock Stanford, not themselves

September, 28, 2012
By Kevin Gemmell | ESPN.com

SEATTLE -- Thursday night, with a full moon hanging over CenturyLink Field, the Washington Huskies howled.

It was primal. It was piercing.

Fifty-thousand-plus fans howled along with them, bringing deafening decibel levels to Washington's temporary home field. It reached a fever pitch when
Desmond Trufant intercepted Josh Nunes in the closing minutes to lock up a 17-13 victory over the No. 8 Stanford Cardinal.

For the second time in three weeks, a top-10 team in the Pac-12 has fallen. And the strange week of football that CenturyLink Field has seen continued when the students overflowed into the center of the NFL stadium.

“I love our fans. They bring it, man,” said Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian. “They were patient with me on offense. I think? They knew what kind of game we were in. Part of me thinks that our fans probably appreciate these types of games more so than 48-45. There is something gritty about our mentality here. This was a black-and-blue type of game and I think our fans appreciated that.”

Shocking to who, the false selling of something that was now there by the hipping TV broadcast announcers. Anyone could see that Washington has some very good college football players that can play good football. Building Stanford into something that they were not because they beat the so called super duper USC was the thing that was bound to become shocking.?

whole PAC-12 is overrated. The PAC-12 beat some Big Ten teams that are struggling against FCS, MAC and Sun Belt team and every starts saying how good the PAC-12 looks. Oregon is probably the only legit program.
1 fan likes this.
Overrated and exposed.
Still bet Stanford would curb stomp your team.
Masterful defensive plan by UW. They dared them to throw and hung in there on offense. Stanford still pretty good though, really makes you wonder about USC defense.
We all thought Stanford was one of those called "tough Pac12 teams". You couldn't beat Washington? Hopefully LSU and Alabama are not in your future.

No - Shows at Tiger Stadium
Bryan Lazare
TigerBait.com Senior Writer

LSU will conclude the non-conference portion of its 2012 football schedule against FCS member Towson at Tiger Stadium on Saturday night.

There are a couple of known facts about what is going to happen Saturday. First, LSU will win quite handily. Second, about 20,000 people who have tickets will not attend the game.

No-shows have been a problem at Tiger Stadium in recent seasons. Ticket scanners were installed at all gates of the stadium in 2007. Beginning with that season, LSU has played 38 games at home. The average number of no-shows for these games is slightly more than 14,000.

The number of people who do not show up doubles in non-conference games as opposed to Southeastern Conference contests. In this stretch, LSU is averaging a little more than 9,000 no-shows at SEC games and slightly less than 20,000 no-shows at non-conference games.

"We talk about the no-show situation," LSU Director of Athletics Joe Alleva said. "This is a phenomenon all around the country. It's a concern. Big-screen televisions and HDTV at homes are a factor. That's why we are trying to continue to make improvements for the people at the stadium."

In the past six years, LSU has sold no fewer than 91,556 tickets for any home game. In fact, at least 92,000 tickets have been sold for 35 of the 38 games. However, LSU has never had 90,000 people in Tiger Stadium. Read more...http://lsu.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1415388
