Selling the product - Zack Mettenberger looks like a wet noodle falling short of the needed first down, running the football. Where is Jordan Jefferson, at least he could run with the ball?

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report

9/22/12 6:10 am CDT

Good morning, Tiger Fans, it’s Game Day!
Yesterday I predicated LSU to win today’s game by 28 points, 41-13, and to be honest with you all, there's a part of me that just doesn’t feel comfortable predicting that much of a blow out. Sure, on paper it looks like LSU should dominate this game, but this is Auburn, at Auburn, and the home team in this classic rivalry has won 11 of the last 12 games. Also, last night we confirmed that UL-Monroe, the team that surprised some people by coming within one point of beating Auburn in overtime last week, is a pretty darn good football team as they gave Baylor almost all they could handle and scored 42 points in an impressive 42-47 loss.
When I start to feel a little nervous about the margin of victory I predicted, I remind myself that LSU’s defense leads the SEC and ranks 4th in the nation in both total defense (205 yards per game) and rushing defense (47 yards per game), and is allowing only 10.3 points per game. Plus, LSU’s offense is averaging 472.3 yards per game, including an SEC-best 269.3 yards per game on the ground, and 48.3 points per game. Read more...http://www.dandydon.com/

In closing, one of my readers notified me that former Tiger great Tommy “Trigger” Allen is currently battling cancer and is not doing well. Please keep him in your prayers.
Read shirted in the 1966 football season RB # 31 Tommy “Trigger” Allen was a very good running back for the LSU tigers from then on out ...

Defense leads LSU to victory against Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. -- Les Miles said he can use a hard-fought win over Auburn as "a tremendous lesson" for an LSU team more accustomed to lopsided victories.
Lesson No. 1: Defense still wins in the Southeastern Conference.
Sam Montgomery and the LSU defense delivered a first-quarter safety and shut out Auburn in the second half to give the second-ranked Tigers a 12-10 victory Saturday night.
Auburn led 10-9 at halftime but finished with only 183 yards -- 86 rushing and 97 passing.

The LSU Tigers hope to learn from their sloppy win against Auburn on Saturday, writes Edward Aschoff. Blog

"We were tested and we answered the call," Miles said.
A fumbled punt return by Auburn's Quan Bray set up Drew Alleman's 30-yard field goal late in the third quarter that gave LSU (4-0, 1-0 SEC) a 12-10 lead. Alleman missed a 34-yarder with 39 seconds remaining.
Auburn (1-3, 0-2 SEC) managed only one first down after Alleman's miss. Kiehl Frazier's final pass was intercepted by Tharold Simon as the game ended.
"We didn't finish," Auburn coach Gene Chizik said. "There will be a day when we will. We will continue to grind and work until we can."
Montgomery led the defense with a career-high 3 1/2 tackles for losses and challenged the team at halftime to "play like I play."
"I believe that during times of adversity, the older, veteran players have to get everybody's heads on straight to lead and go and play for the victory," said Montgomery, a junior.
Montgomery called the close win "a shock to our system."Read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=322660002

Bayou Bengals escape Jordan-Hare with sloppy, 12-10 victory

By RICHARD FISCHER and HUNT PALMER
AUBURN, Ala.– LSU Head Coach Les Miles doesn’t care how he wins games. Saturday night in Jordan Hare Stadium, his Tigers managed to do it even after turning the ball over twice, committing nine penalties and missing a chip shot field goal.
It ugly, but it was enough as LSU escaped the Plains a 12-10, winner. The Tigers took an early 9-0 lead as Michael Ford scampered in from a yard out to hush a fired up Auburn crowd. The home team rallied with 10 straight points to take the lead and a boom of momentum heading into halftime, but only Drew Alleman’s 30-yard boot changed the score in the second half.
LSU outgained Auburn 351-183 and held the Tigers to just 2 of 12 on third downs, still Auburn had the ball with :39 on the clock with a chance to drive into field goal range. Quarterback Kiehl Frazier heaved a fourth down pass up the field and into the arms of LSU cornerback Tharold Simon who slid to the turf to secure the win.
