Sports reporters and football coaches - and college football fans: The passion sells itself.

Tinker Town: "You name the coach, and I'll name the TV networks sports reporter who has inserted their talking points into the college football games that are played today. Nothing of our today's conversation is left out of the college football games that we cheer so hard for today. The back grown noise is very much the story line after a victory or defeat. Nothing is like it was back in the day of chivalry, and a college esprit de corps from the first college football game at Rutgers university and the Ivy league back from all those long ago first years of college football.

Whatever attract more attention is considered a good selling point in broadcasting college football on Radio or TV these days. Sometimes I simply turn off the sound to enjoy a great football game because I don't need anything else, or extra. I have the football game itself to like... Others, not so much. Que Sera Sera."

No. 2 LSU using depth to steamroll early opponents

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - At this point, it looks as if the toughest team unbeaten LSU has faced this season is its second team in practice.
A 63-14 blowout of Idaho on Saturday, which helped the Tigers climb to No. 2 in the AP poll, served as the latest reminder that LSU's sideline is loaded with exceptional players waiting for their chance to shine.
Sophomore Ronald Martin needed one start to have what would be considered a career night for many fellow safeties across the country.
He had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a 45-yard touchdown. Both interceptions resulted from deflections by redshirt freshman Jalen Collins, who could have been starting at cornerback last year at some other schools, but is instead playing nickel back in his second season at LSU. The Poll Attacks: Ripping apart ballots after Week 3

Jeff Driskel and Florida are not getting the respect they should after two SEC road wins. (US Presswire)
The latest college football polls are out following Week 3, and now it's time to rip them to shreds. Senior college basketball writer Gary Parrish has been calling out voters in the major hoops polls for thinking a little bit too far outside of the box when it comes to their AP ballots every week. Now it's my turn to do the same on the football side.

It's time to take the baton on the idea from my colleague and keep all of the voters honest. I've come to know a good number of these people through time and Twitter, but relationships do not matter; bad votes do.

GUILBEAU: SEC Behind the Scenes

More than just the trees are ill at Auburn

By GLENN GUILBEAU
Tiger Rag Featured Columnist

Harvey Updyke (allegedly) poisoned the wondrous oak trees at Toomer’s Corner two years ago because he was upset that Auburn was rolling to a national championship after beating his beloved Crimson Tide 28-27 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
He should have left nature alone and just waited.
Since Auburn’s perfect, 14-0, national championship season of 2010, the bloom is off. The Tigers are 9-7 overall and 4-5 in the Southeastern Conference since. Auburn (1-2, 0-1 SEC) had to resort to a gadget play, a Hail Mary, two blocked field goals and a field goal in overtime just to beat Louisiana-Monroe last weekend, 31-28.
Next week, Auburn hosts No. 2 LSU, and it could get ugly because Auburn looks sick.
Call it the curse of 14. Auburn is 14th of 14 teams in the SEC statistics in five major categories - rush defense, scoring offense, total offense, pass offense and pass efficiency. Read more...http://www.tigerrag.com/?p=220932
