Tinker Town: "Men and women with god given talent from a thousand generations deserve to treat themselves with the best efforts that they can muster. Demanding from the other people around them to respect who they are. The Les Miles college football team had their backs against the wall after losing to Florida in Gainesville. And at the heights that the LSU tigers have been playing college football two back to back loses would have killed this football seasons chances at winning the 2012 BCS championship. Alas Les Miles LSU fighting tigers came back fighting with both hands, and defeated the Gamecock 23-21. Winning back the respect that LSU lost down in the swamp."

LSU gets back into the BCS discussion
It had been a long week here, answering questions about a beleaguered offensive line and how the Tigers were going to move the ball. And now? Nov. 3, when Alabama comes here, remains a relevant date on the national level, and LSU remains in the BCS discussion.
In fact, the list of viable one-loss teams is growing. In addition to the two here Saturday, Oklahoma and USC belong in that conversation (maybe West Virginia, too, although that's debatable after the nature of its loss Saturday). And another thought: Where does Notre Dame fit in if it should lose at OU or USC and win out otherwise?
If there's another shakeup similar to the Oct. 6 quake, those teams will again ascend. It's still early enough. Remember that it was a team that lost in early November that wound up winning the crystal football last season.
LSU's hopes of hanging around in the title discussion were flickering after a miserable day at Florida, but the patchwork offensive line destroyed a talented South Carolina front to restore hope for those on the bayou.
"We're not used to losing around here," linebacker Lamin Barrow said. "This game wouldn't have broken our season, but we couldn't take another loss. It was beautiful to see us come together as a team."

Highlight Of The Night
LSU rallies to hand South Carolina their first loss of the season.BATON ROUGE, La. -- Jeremy Hill
capped his breakout game by leaping the fence dividing the field from
the stands at Tiger Stadium and embracing a jubilant throng of students
as they celebrated LSU's quick ascendance back into the national title
discussion.
Hill highlighted a 124-yard, two-touchdown performance with a 50-yard scoring run, and the ninth-ranked Tigers handed No. 3 South Carolina its first loss of the season, 23-21 on Saturday night.
Hill's clutch runs, showcasing his tackle-breaking power as well as breakaway speed, were precisely what LSU needed a week after stumbling to its lone loss of the season at Florida, where the offense had been stagnant.

"We didn't play like we were capable of playing last
week against Florida. The entire offense knew that they had to step up
and we made that a priority," Hill said. "At the end, it was a great
release and we wanted to celebrate with the students who have supported
us throughout the season."
LSU (6-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) substantially outgained South Carolina (6-1, 4-1), 406 yards to 211, but struggled to find the end zone. Three times, LSU settled for field goals after driving at least as far as the Gamecocks' 5-yard line, and another drive to the South Carolina 15 stalled on a missed field goal.
But Hill's long score with 5:03 left gave LSU a nine-point lead that proved to be just enough cushion for the Tigers.
The run caused bedlam in Death Valley, exactly what South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier did not want to see -- or hear -- after jokingly pretending to be momentarily confused this past week about the fact there are two Death Valley's, one at LSU and one at Clemson. SEC Blog
Now that Week 7 is over with, it's time to take a look at what we learned in the SEC from the weekend that was:
1. LSU isn't going away: The Tigers limped into Saturday's showdown with South Carolina after being pushed around by Florida. By all accounts, the sky was falling in Baton Rouge and the Tigers had to face the music that they were playing for second place in the SEC West. But things feel much different on the Bayou after an impressive win over the Gamecocks. The Tigers did all the pushing Saturday, out-gaining South Carolina 406-211 and didn't allow Marcus Lattimore to even touch the ball in the fourth quarter. Zach Mettenberger wasn't pretty but he didn't need to be with that running game churning out 258 rushing yards against one of the country's best defensive lines and that kind of play can win in this league. LSU isn't out of the SEC or national race and the Alabama game just got a little more exciting. Read more...http://espn.go.com/
Hurry
up, and run over to Les Miles to rub your hands on his shoulder.
Because he can't coach, but has a lot of magic that the LSU football
players are willing to fight for. Then go play the lottery - hoping that
his luck has rubbed off on you.
Congrats
LSU. Great game. Tigers out played Scar and that oline did a heck of a
job. Hopefully, this will get rid of all the obnoxious SCar fans
except for the regulars.
Meanwhile Iowa State is one win away from totaling Chizik's 2 year total.
I
learned that Tommy Tuberville probably felt good about seeing the team
that forced him out lose to Ole Miss while his Red Raiders crushed West
Virginia.
The
season is still very young. MSU has not played the elite in the West,
Johnny "Football" Manziel has several more chances to prove he is the
best(LSU,AL,MSU), and AL has a long way to go to end up unbeaten.

BATON ROUGE, La. — On the night Louisiana State saved its football season, if only temporarily, a white board hung in the corner of one meeting room. It spelled out the most basic principles in the game plan, standard stuff, all hallmarks of the Tigers in years past “Mean,” it read.“Tough.”
“Nasty.”
“60 minutes of hard-nosed football.”
Such sentiments have defined L.S.U. under Coach Les Miles, or they did before this season stalled, before the Tigers played a month of uninspired football and stumbled into their game Saturday against South Carolina after their first regular-season loss since 2010, at Florida last weekend.
