BATON ROUGE, La. -- Jeremy Hill scored his third touchdown with 15 seconds left to lift LSU (No. 7 BCS, No. 8 AP) to a 41-35 victory over relentless but mistake-prone Mississippi on Saturday in a classic meeting between the rivals.
The game included seven turnovers, numerous momentum swings and long touchdowns, perhaps none better than Odell Beckham Jr.'s 89-yard punt return for a score that evoked memories of Billy Cannon's famous return against the same team, along the same sideline, for the same yardage back in 1959.
Beckaham's return tied the game at 35, but LSU (9-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) still needed a pair of clutch sacks by Anthony Johnson and Lavar Edwards to drive Ole Miss out of routine field goal range later in the fourth quarter, setting up the winning drive.
Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace passed for 310 yards and two TDs and ran for two scores, but also was intercepted three times. Read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=323220099

AJ McCarron sets Alabama's single-season TD passes record in rout

Associated Press
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- AJ McCarron, Eddie Lacy and Alabama settled this one in the opening minutes instead of waiting for a tense finale.
Lacy rushed for three first-half touchdowns and McCarron set the fourth-ranked Crimson Tide's single-season record for passing TDs in a decidedly drama-free 49-0 victory over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Alabama (10-1) rebounded from a loss to No. 9 Texas A&M by building a 42-0 halftime lead against the Catamounts (1-10), a Football Championship Subdivision team with two wins in as many seasons. It was the Tide's third shutout this year.
"I was pleased with the way our guys competed in the game," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. "We went out there and tried to play to a standard and executed fairly well. Western Carolina, those guys played hard and they were a little bit outmanned, and our guys played the way we want them to play.
"Everything is ahead of us as a team." Read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=323220333

Odell Beckham Jr.'s punt return sparks LSU's 41-35 comeback victory against Ole Miss

History is a big part of the LSU-Ole Miss series and on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium, history repeated itself in the Tigers' 41-35 victory against the Rebels. Trailing in the fourth quarter of a tightly contested game, LSU got an 89-yard punt return for a touchdown along the East sideline to spark a Houdini-like escape from the jaws of a brewing upset against the Rebels.
It wasn't a dead ringer for Billy Cannon's legendary run in 1959. It wasn't Halloween, the Tigers weren't unbeaten and ranked No. 1 and it wasn't the winning touchdown, but Odell Beckham Jr.'s 89-yard scamper was just as exciting and important to the LSU victory as the one 53 years ago.
"I was watching it on the Jumbotron; it was shock and awe and excitement all at the same time," LSU safety Eric Reid said. "That was huge for us. It gave us momentum and played a part in the win tonight."Read more...http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2012/11/odell_beckham_jrs_punt_return.html
