LSU final 2012 regular season football game is over and LSU will have its 13th 10-win season in school history.

Tinker Town: " Well, I am very glad that the final LSU regular season football game against the Arkansas razorback is over with, and the LSU tigers were victorious, 20 to 13. I was on the edge of becoming shocked at just how dumb the LSU coaching staff and football players were playing this Arkansas football game. Very poorly. Displaying a very bad lapse of judgement, and common sense. LSU was lucky to come away from that football game with a win. Coach crackers, defeating coach crazy. LSU winds up the 2012 regular football season 10 and 2. Now the LSU fighting tigers will rest, and see what the final weekend does to the LSU tiger BCS Bowl chances. The possibilities are to many to go into before the rest of the top college football teams have played in the final games. LSU will have its 13th 10-win season in school history.

LSU knocks off Arkansas to keep its BCS hopes alive

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Jarvis Landry helped LSU keep an SEC championship within reach.
Landry made a spectacular, reaching, one-handed touchdown catch and the eighth-ranked Tigers held on for a 20-13 win over Arkansas on Friday.

Zach Mettenberger passed for 217 yards and hooked up with Landry for the play of the day with 1:12 left in the first half to put LSU up 10-0. The Tigers (10-2, 6-2 Southeastern Conference) reached double-digit wins for the sixth time in eight seasons under coach Les Miles.
LSU must now hope for an Alabama loss to Auburn and Texas A&M victory on Saturday in order to reach next weekend's SEC championship game. Even without a division crown, the Tigers could still get an at-large bid to the BCS.
Tyler Wilson was 31 of 52 passing for the Razorbacks (4-8, 2-6), whose fall from preseason top 10 is now complete. The senior set the school record for career passing yards in the loss.
Arkansas' Cobi Hamilton set the school record for receptions in a career with 175. Read more...http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=323280008

Arkansas Postgame Wrap

Quotes and locker room reaction from LSU’s seven-point win over the Hogs

By RICHARD FISCHER
Tiger Rag Associate Editor

It wasn’t supposed to be this hard.
Arkansas had a certain M.O. through its first 11 games. Once they fell behind, they packed it in and quit.
When LSU entered the half up 10-0, Arkansas could have done it again.
They didn’t.
The Hogs fought back with 13 second-half points and had the Tigers on the ropes for the majority of the final two frames.
4-7 teams and coaches in their last game also typically take chances and play aggressively.
However, John L. Smith let golden opportunities slip away when he opted to kick a field goal on fourth and goal from the one and punt on fourth and five from the LSU 45 - both in the fourth quarter.
That sums up a wacky and topsy-turvy game in the Natural State today.
The Tigers have finished the regular season 10-2 and 6-2 in SEC games. Five of those SEC wins came by a combined 22 points, and the only outlier was a 20-point win over State where a pick-six from the end zone was the difference between the final spread and a one-score game.
Eking out close games is nothing new to the Tigers, and they just did it again.

POSTGAME FEEL
LSU head coach Les Miles’ attitude was much more subdued than it was last week when he exploded following LSU’s narrow win over Ole Miss. He was obviously relieved with victory but knows that his team could play better. He mentioned that his team will look forward to a time where they can get some rest, however he hopes that it won’t happen immediately if LSU is playing in the SEC Championship Game a week from tomorrow. He even went as far as to say “Root for Auburn.” Some coaches are hesitant to say something like that, but why hide it? It’s what his team needs for another conference championship, and everyone knows it. The coach mentioned on several occasions that the tackling needs to be better. It does. Arkansas had several short gains turn into long ones due to missed tackles. As far the players, they were a bit more joyous. They got to 10-2 and can take solace in the fact that no one will crush them for a lackluster season. A loss today would have brought some of those sentiments on. All in all, the players are ready to catch the flight home and watch other teams take licks on TV tomorrow.

Final note:

Miles said he does not expect the players suspended for academic issues (Tyler Edwards and Tahj Jones) to be back for the bowl game.

BEST QUOTES
“Our football team is a little nicked. It’s a team that’s gonna take some time here to get healthy. Hopefully only a couple extra days, and maybe we’ll have something to do next weekend [SEC Championship Game]. You never can tell. We’re going to look forward to getting to that period of time where we can heal.”

-LSU head coach Les Miles on his team needed rest but hoping it doesn’t get it right away

“I know we missed tackles that we wouldn’t normally miss, but defensively we feel that if we tackled a little crisper, it woulda been a little bit different We could have separated ourselves a little bit more from our opponent.”

-Miles on missed tackles

“Congratulations to a very strong effort by Arkansas. We came in there on the last game of the season in their place and they gave everything that they had. I thought it was a great effort on their part… Quality team. It’s very difficult for me to believe that that is not a bowl eligible football team. Watching the talent there. They’re very capable.”

-Miles on Arkansas and the Hogs’ effort today

“It was big. Seeing Odell and what he was able to do, getting that ball and extending that play. Zach put the ball in the playmaker’s hands… It extended that drive and getting those third downs and continuing those drives really helped.”

-LT Josh Dworaczyk on OBJ’s 47-yard catch as one of LSU’s three third down conversions with his arm in the second half

“I was trying to break free cause I saw that not a lot of people was in front of me and I thought if I broke it that I could score. I ended up breaking it but I saw four or five Arkansas players in front of me so I just tried to stay in bounds and keep the clock moving.”

-WR Odell Beckham on his 47-yard fourth-quarter catch. Read more...
