GoldRing: "What will happen in the Chick-fli-a bowl between the LSU fighting tigers, against the Clemson tigers Joe? I really don't know GoldRing, when it comes to Les Miles. Remember how he coached the very best football team LSU ever had. There is just no way of knowing, because of him. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?

Quite a run for Tigers

Les Miles has coached LSU to five bowl victories in seven games |
It seems like a long time ago when LSU supporters were celebrating a trip to the 1995 Independence Bowl in Shreveport. There was a simple reason - no postseason appearances for the Tigers in the previous six years.
In fact, before the current streak began in 2000, LSU had participated in just three bowl games in 11 seasons - Independence Bowl in 1995 and 1997 and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in 1996. The Tigers won all three games under coach Gerry DiNardo.
Nick Saban was the coach for the first five years in the present streak with LSU winning three times - against Georgia Tech in the 2000 Chick-fil-A Bowl, Illinois in the 2001 Sugar Bowl and Oklahoma in the 2003 national title game.
Under coach Les Miles, the Tigers have continued the bowl streak with five victories in seven games. The two defeats have come in the past three seasons - against Penn State in the 2009 Capital One Bowl and Alabama in the 2011 national championship game.
In this span of 12 years, LSU has appeared in three national title games - winning against Oklahoma in 2003 and Ohio State in 2007. The Tigers won BCS bowl games in New Orleans against Illinois in 2001 and Notre Dame in 2006.
Only three games have been decided by fewer than 14 points. LSU defeated Oklahoma 21-14 in the 2003 national championship game and lost 30-25 to Iowa in the 2004 Capital One Bowl and 19-17 to Penn State in the 2009 Capital One Bowl.

Turner has come a long way
Redshirt freshman will share time with Josh Williford in Chick-fil-A Bowl
By Gary Laney | GeauxTigerNation
BATON ROUGE, La. -- When Trai Turner trotted out onto Florida Field on Oct. 6 to play right guard for the injured Josh Williford in the first meaningful snaps of Turner's career, he said he had "jitters."
Understandable, considering Turner is a redshirt freshman who didn't figure to play much this season.
When it became apparent that Williford, who suffered a concussion against the Gators, would not return for the next series, the jitters came back as Turner worried about what surprises might await him on the field.
"It was every series," Turner recalled. "I had jitters every series I had to go out there."
That afternoon, which eventually resulted in a 14-6 loss, seems so long ago now for the New Orleans native.
Williford did not return for the rest of the regular season from the head injury -- he will be back for the Tigers for the Chick-fil-A Bowl on New Year's Eve against Clemson -- and Turner started the Tigers' final six games at right guard as part of an All-Freshman right side next to true freshman right tackle Vadal Alexander. He's become part of a resurgent LSU offense that has so improved that it has gone from anemic at Florida to carrying the Tigers to wins in shootouts where the defense gave up points and yards down the stretch. Turner was on the field when the Tigers rediscovered the running game to beat South Carolina and was at right guard as Zach Mettenberger and the LSU passing game came into its own over the regular season's final four games.
Buoyed by existing chemistry with Alexander, who had practiced next to him as a second-team tandem since the spring, and tutored by offensive line veterans like senior center P.J. Lonergan and sixth-year senior tackle Josh Dworaczyk, Turner became a quick study.
He learned what SEC defensive linemen, so adapt at battling for the coveted "A" gap between guard and center, were like. He knew LSU's plays, but he learned the subtle differences between how the plays are rehearsed Tuesdays on a practice field and how they must be executed against an angry SEC defensive line on a Saturday. He figured out the adjustments that are made on the fly and got a feel for what it's like to try to do it all in front of 80,000 or more screaming fans.
It didn't take long before Turner quickly transformed himself to the point where that jittery guy in Gainesville seems long gone.
"I'm more experienced, more...put together," he said of where he is now. "Those are the best words I can use to describe it. More calm. More tenacity. I don't really get those jitters I had on each series. I still get jitters, but in that Florida game, in each series I had those jitters. I'm not so worried about messing up because I'm confident.Read more...http://espn.go.com/

Sugar Bowl trip to cost UF close to $2.5 million
By Pat DooleyStaff writer
The price of taking a team to the Sugar Bowl has risen for the
Florida Gators three years after their last appearance in the game.
Because of more expenses being budgeted for travel and lodging,
as well as two extra days of mini-camp back in Gainesville, Florida will
spend 11 percent more than it did in 2009-10 to play in New Orleans,
according to executive athletic director for external affairs Chip
Howard.
All teams playing in BCS bowl games receive $1.825 million from the BCS. That amount hasn’t changed since 2009. Florida, as it usually does for a BCS bowl, has allocated $550,000 extra to cover the costs of the trip.
That money is basically taken in advance from the money that Florida (as well as the other SEC schools) will receive from the conference this spring.
Florida will use two planes to fly out the team first and a traveling party later. Lodging at the New Orleans Riverfront Hilton will cost $320,000.
Florida will also pay out $927,223 to coaches and staff members as bonuses for making a BCS bowl game.
The total expenses for UF’s trip to New Orleans is budgeted at $2.477 million. Including the $106,000 for mileage the program receives from the SEC and the $550,000 allocated to cover expenses, UF has budgeted for $2.481 in revenue.
The remainder of the $18 million that each BCS bowl team receives is sent to the league office, where it is divided 15 ways -- to the 14 teams and league office.
Last June, each SEC school received $20.1 million despite the bowl teams keeping $12.8 million for expenses. This year, there are nine SEC teams in bowl games.

Tinker Town:"If the NCAA football teams like the Florida Gators are losing that kind of money, then why do they go to play in a postseason Bowl game that cost the school millions of dollars? Apparently there is simply to much hanky panky going on with Bowl perks ect. To believe these college football teams bowl losing money reports for my blood. I don't believe them. Where is all the money then. Where is the Bowl money going"?

That Babe Ruth just died in New York. The fans hearing that news were stunned into siting quietly for minutes, some becoming overwhelmed and crying. Sad that the great Babe Ruth lost his life".
