Failure is not an option.

Tinker:

The abusive treatment of the American people government, stealing, breaking the law by the people the American people elected. Becomes hard for me to stay peaceful about. Because I natural feel furious about how badly the lowlife politicians hurt our neighborhoods and children.

The likes of the politicians running Washington DC now have become a creature from the depth of hatred, barren of forgiveness. Spreading destruction to our country spirit and health as they wear that phoney smile.
We should throw most of them now working there ( on our American dollar ) out of their Washington DC office buildings, and simply elect better people.

Putting the guilty in jail and then payoff our country's debt. Starting over once again expressing a free spirit in each other to become a real winner. Failing is not an option.

The Chilling History of How Hollywood Helped Hitler (Exclusive)

Issue 27 Hitler and Hollywood Cover - P 2013

In devastating detail, an excerpt from a controversial new book reveals how the big studios, desperate to protect German business, let Nazis censor scripts, remove credits from Jews, get movies stopped and even force one MGM executive to divorce his Jewish wife.

This story first appeared in the Aug. 9 issue of The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
The 1930s are celebrated as one of Hollywood's golden ages, but in an exclusive excerpt from his controversial new book, The Collaboration: Hollywood's Pact with Hitler (Harvard University Press, on sale Sept. 9), Harvard post-doctoral fellow Ben Urwand uncovers a darker side to Hollywood's past.

Drawing on a wealth of archival documents in the U.S. and Germany, he reveals the shocking extent to which Hollywood cooperated and collaborated with the Nazis during the decade leading up to World War II to protect its business.

Indeed, "collaboration" (and its German translation, Zusammenarbeit) is a word that appears regularly in the correspondence between studio officials and the Nazis. Although the word is fraught with meaning to modern ears, its everyday use at the time underscored the eagerness of both sides to smooth away their differences to preserve commerce.

The Nazis threatened to exclude American movies -- more than 250 played in Germany after Hitler took power in 1933 -- unless the studios cooperated. Before World War I, the German market had been the world's second largest, and even though it had shrunk during the Great Depression, the studios believed it would bounce back and worried that if they left, they would never be able to return.

Larry Summers Gets 'Full-Throated Defense' From Obama In Capitol Hill Meeting, Lawmaker Says

Posted: 07/31/2013 12:42 pm EDT  |  Updated: 07/31/2013 2:44 pm EDT

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama gave a "full-throated defense" of Larry Summers in a closed meeting with House Democrats Wednesday, according to a lawmaker in the room, but said he’s nowhere near making a decision on who will be the next Federal Reserve chairman.

Summers, along with Janet Yellen, are reportedly the top contenders for the Fed post. White House adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Wednesday that no decision will be made until the fall, but that hasn’t stopped people from speculating about the frontrunner.

During Wednesday’s meeting, one Democratic lawmaker, who requested anonymity, said the president became agitated and rose to Summers’ defense in response to Rep. Ed Perlmutter (D-Colo.) walking up to the microphone and simply saying, "Larry Summers. Bad Choice."

In paraphrasing Obama's response, the lawmaker said the president replied, "Hey, don't talk sh*t about him because he's actually a pretty good guy. And then he said, 'If somebody talked sh*t about you like that, I'd defend you too."' (The lawmaker added that Obama didn't use the expletive.)

Still, the lawmaker said it didn’t seem like a sign that Obama is about to tap Summers to run the Federal Reserve: “I just think he likes Larry.”

The president’s irritation wasn’t just reserved for Perlmutter. According to two Democrats in the room, Obama also ripped The Huffington Post for making Summers, in the president’s words, “a progressive whipping boy.”

The Hill reported that Obama told Democrats "not to believe everything you read in the Huffington Post." Read more...http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/07/31/larry-summers-obama_n_3682908.html

Against all odds learning how to win

Tinker:

Oh my goodness the month of August is finally here and of course the Louisiana weather is still hot in Baton Rouge. But the changing colors of the Autumn leaves in the Northern part of these United States are starting to change... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kP8jPa1wCg
...and that also means that LSU College Football is here.

Some of us have lose family member over the past summer days, now becoming LSU fans of yesterday. Like a unreal moment they lost their lifelong battle for life to death, leaving us the living with only their close memory. Loved ones taken away from us because of accident or sickness, the selfsame people who we enjoyed so many LSU college football game with, so many times before.

Our life is truly harsh and hard to withstand sometimes as we all learn to understand the living part through the passing years. Where and when we are healthy life becomes so much more appreciated and bittersweet to live.

Now once again the best college football players will be meeting the other teams best inside the great football arenas across America. Because they are indeed the very best college football player that the best college football recruiters can find.

But you know what, there is something very inspiring about the guys that fight hard to over come the best efforts of the best college football players. Who have been recruited to ensure the big time college football program a winning season. The unnoticed college football players don't have the limelight right now before the college football game start. Buy I know that they are there, training hard so they can win also, in spite of all odds.

The 2013 LSU college football season is here at last.

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans. Can you believe that in just five days the LSU football team will begin preseason camp?

Monday I mentioned a few members of the LSU football team’s 2013 signing class that I expect to make a splash this season, and today I'll touch on a half-dozen “veterans” that I'm expecting big things from - three on offense and three on defense.

La’El Collins
(LT, 6'5", 321, JR)
After making the switch from guard to tackle during the spring, Collins will be tasked with protecting Zach Mettenberger's blind side and will be counted on as a leader of the Tigers’ offensive line. I agree with Mike Detillier's assessment in which he stated that Collins is the most physically gifted offensive lineman at LSU since Andrew Whitworth.

Travin Dural
(WR, 6'2", 180, RSFR)
I feel a little funny about listing Dural among the “veterans” since he hasn’t yet played a down as a Tiger, but believe me when I say that he was set to see the playing field last season as a true freshman before suffering a season-ending knee injury early in pre-season camp. Dural has great speed, athleticism, and hands, and I look for him to be Mettenberger's ideal target on deep routes. If Mettenberger can put the ball out in front of him with a little air under it, Dural has the speed to run it down and the hands to pull it in.

Alfred Blue
(RB, 6'2", 220, SR)
Blue is another player who was set to have a big year last season before suffering a season-ending injury. Blue's injury occurred in Week 3 against Idaho, and at that time he was the team's leading rusher and the 2nd leading rusher in the SEC. In the first two games, he ran for 123 yards against North Texas and 101 yards and one TD against Washington. Blue will be a significant part of LSU's running game this season with or without Jeremy Hill, but if Hill isn’t reinstated than Blue's role will obviously become all the more critical.

Anthony Johnson
(DT, 6'3", 294, JR)
Johnson was a five-star recruit out of high school and a freshman All-American in his first year as a Tiger. Now as he enters his junior season he will be counted on to provide leadership as the team's most experienced defensive lineman.

Craig Loston
(S, 6'2", 205, SR)
Loston is another player who will be counted on to provide leadership for LSU's relatively inexperienced defense. Loston came to LSU as the most highly recruited safety in the country out of Eisenhower high school (Houston), and his talent has never been in question. Unfortunately, nagging injuries have kept the hard-hitting speedster from reaching his full potential. If he can stay healthy, I look for Loston to have an All-SEC and maybe even an All-American senior campaign.

Jermauria Rasco
(DE, 6'3", 255, JR)
After spending two years in the shadows of Barkevious Mingo, Sam Montgomery and Lavar Edwards, this is the time for Rasco to shine. The junior from Shreveport (Evangel) received a lot of praise from the staff after a very impressive spring, and has the speed and closing ability to develop into a big-time pass rusher.

In exactly one month, the Tigers will take to the field for the season opener against TCU, and with that in mind today we’ll continue our jersey countdown by looking at a special player who wore No. 31 for LSU from 1966-’69 – Tommy “Trigger” Allen. In his freshman season as a Tiger, Allen was red-shirted, and entering his sophomore season he was listed third on the depth chart behind Jim Dousay and Maurice Leblanc at tailback. Dousay and Leblanc both sustained injuries in the season opener against South Carolina, so Allen quickly found himself in the starting role. On his first play of the season during a kickoff return, the ball came down and hit him on his helmet before bouncing out of bounds. That was a rough way to start his playing days as a Tiger, but it would quickly improve after that. Allen went on to lead the Tigers in scoring that season with 31 points, then he led the team in rushing his junior season with 535 yards on 106 attempts. In those days, under Coach Charles McClendon, the Tigers ran a lot of off-tackle, off-tackle, off-tackle and backs didn't get the kind of yardage they get today, so 535 yards on 106 carries was pretty significant.

You might be wondering how Allen came to be known by the nickname “Trigger.” Online I found a quote by Allen saying that the nickname came by mistake. "When I graduated from high school, there was a guy I think from Plain Dealing named Trigger Allen," Allen explained. "He was 5-10 175 and was all-state. I don't know where he went to school, but this one day (I) showed up Trigger Allen (in the paper). I don't know if somebody had gotten us confused. We were both running backs, both the same size, both all-state in high school. It just stuck. A lot of my teammates call me Trigger. It was just his name, not mine."

There are several other great former Tigers who wore No. 31, and I've had a request from one of my readers to give a shout-out to three players from Breaux Bridge who wore the number for LSU. The three are Dominique Davis, Jesse Daniels and John Willliams.

Because we're at No. 31 on our jersey countdown, I'd like to take a moment to remember another very special Tiger who wore the number, although not for the football team. You guessed it; I'm talking about baseball's Wally Pontiff. Last week marked the 11th anniversary of Pontiff's passing, and my heart still aches for his family and friends who lost him so suddenly and unexpectedly. In remembrance of this special young man, I've uploaded to our Media Gallery a video tribute that ESPN ran on Pontiff during the 2002 CWS.

I'll close by pointing out that I've updated our Ticket Exchange page, and by sharing a few reader comments with links to some interesting reads.

The Nutt knows...  (Posted on 7/30/13 at 9:48 pm)

Today on Sirius 91 Chris Childers asked Houston Nutt who had a shot at knocking Alabama off of their pedestal and actually defeating them in the NC game. Not just getting to the game as in Notre Dame but defeating Bama.

I'm not quoting him but Coach's Nutt's first response was, "don't sleep on LSU". He said he has seen Mett in Junior College as well as last year and the kid has the potential to be very good. Coach Nutt thinks Cam Cameron can take Mett to another level and said the offense will be good. He also thinks the defense will be fine; basically said to "trust Chavis" and the players LSU will plug in.

    The Nutt knows...

He gives all the credit to Saban for what he has done but said it is so hard to go undefeated and win it all. I know Bama has not gone undefeated in either of its last two championship years but they are picked to just about steamroll every opponent, blah, blah, blah.

He then mentioned TAMU, Georgia and South Carolina. In a nutshell he was saying, don't give the crystal to the Gumps just yet. I like that he went to LSU first.

    The Nutt knows...

As a coach who has faced both of these teams his confidence in LSU is heartening.
