Wish someone would care - Tyrann Mathieu dismissed: Honey Badger - Sporting News NCAAF

Tinker Town: "How life goes on no matter who you are. One day moves into night, back into another day, and that time waits for no one. What Tyrann Mathieu did to get himself removed from the LSU football team is simply like watching another person jumping off the train before the next stop. For us to ask why, is of no matter now, because the result of which is that he is not going to be able to play football for the LSU fighting tigers any longer. Life goes on."

Tyrann Mathieu dismissed: Honey Badger must get blame for mistake, but so should we

Matt Hayes Sporting News

I received a strange phone call last December, one that was hard to comprehend before I completely understood what it was all about.
A colleague at Sporting News was working on a profile of Tyrann Mathieu, LSU’s white-hot star, and called to tell me he didn’t know if he could tell the story.
A troubled kid, he said. A tortured soul. See video and read more...http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2012-08-10/tyrann-mathieu-dismissed-lsu-tigers-breaking-team-rules-honey-badger-kicked-off

Alabama-LSU: Fueled by Saban, stakes and strength

JOHN ZENOR
AP Sports Writer

College football is a game of tradition, where Ohio State-Michigan, Army-Navy, USC-UCLA and any number of other celebrated rivalries are born from neighborly disdain and nourished by a century or so of simmering feuds.
Then there is LSU vs. Alabama.
These days, nothing tops the Tigers and Crimson Tide, two headline-hogging juggernauts who have shared a head coach and a claim to top dog in the Southeastern Conference — and that means nationally, too. Read more...http://www.houmatoday.com/article/20120811/WIRE/120819996/?p=all&tc=pgall

A drippy, sunless gray sky greeted the news Friday that Tyrann Mathieu had been dismissed from the LSU football team for unspecified violations.
As a dramatic backdrop, it seemed to fit the mood of a Tiger nation suddenly plunged into a cloud of anxiety that the loss of one of their team’s top stars will prove a mortal blow to LSU’s national championship hopes. Read more...http://theadvocate.com/sports/lsu/3601187-123/replacing-mathieu

BATON ROUGE -- Once again, the LSU football team will have to make due without a primary player, this time junior All-America defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, who was dismissed from the team Friday after a failed drug test.
The Tigers' defense entered preseason camp needing to replace the production of 2011 Jim Thorpe Award winner Morris Claiborne, who entered the NFL draft after his junior year and is now with the Dallas Cowboys. Mathieu's departure only intensifies that need.
"We'll miss the guy, but just like an injury, football teams have to go on," said LSU Coach Les Miles at Friday's press conference. "They have to fill the void."
Juniors Tharold Simon, Eric Reid and Craig Loston are the only defensive backs on the roster with college experience -- Simon at cornerback, Reid at free safety and Loston at strong safety. Read more...http://www.nola.com/lsu/index.ssf/2012/08/young_tigers_players_expected.html

Glenn Guilbeau: LSU will still reach national championship without the Honey Badger

Even without Tyrann Mathieu, the LSU Tigers could be national title contenders.

BATON ROUGE – I am a voter on the Associated Press poll, which on Friday extended its deadline to vote on its preseason poll to Monday after LSU star defensive back/kick returner Tyrann Mathieu was kicked off the team. The original deadline was last Wednesday. I voted LSU No. 1.
I am not changing my vote. LSU, which is the USA Today’s preseason No. 1, is still No. 1 without the Honey Badger.
Mathieu, a Heisman finalist and the Bednarik Award (best defensive player in the nation) winner last season, is the greatest player in history to be kicked off an LSU team and is the best returning defensive player in the nation this season. He also has one of the best nicknames in college football history. Read more...http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20120810/SPORTS0402/120810044/

Going into today we knew Tyrann Mathieu wouldn’t participate in LSU’s opening scrimmage of Fall Camp.
We didn’t know that projected starting offensive tackles Chris Faulk and Alex Hurst would join Mathieu on the M.I.A. list

When you can: Please tell our 2012 fighting tiger football player that we the LSU fans are feeling very fearful, after losing one of our football teams best competitor. That was a shock to us. That they must keep themselves safe and sound to the best of their ability. To focus.
They have trained all of their life for this opportunity to become a champion. That they must become their own best friend, to ward off the evil spirits. That they are the accumulated best that the LSU tiger family has to offer into the college football arena. Without them, we have no one to cheer for. To be proud over. That they are very different then watching the pro football players. Going to watch the LSU fighting tigers play football is like watching our own family members play.
Watching the LSU tigers play a college football game, it is a very personal experience. To take very go care of themselves.because they are in a very special time and moment in their lives.
