Tinker Town: "The LSU football games against Texas A&M was remembered by the LSU tigers football fans over the years with two main features regarding the traditional Maroon color of the Texas A&M Aggies. Is that, they have a better marching band then even West Point, and that their football team can beat you, no matter what time of day or night that you play them."

SEC releases 2013 conference schedules
October, 18, 2012
By
Edward Aschoff | ESPN.com
The SEC released the 2013 conference schedules for all 14 teams Thursday.
There are a few things that stand out with next year's SEC slate. For one, I'm sure fans outside of Athens, Ga., will be slow clapping at the fact Georgia will get back to playing one of the top teams in the SEC West, as the Bulldogs will host LSU on Sept. 28. That's great for TV, but it's part of a tough conference stretch for the Tigers, who play at Georgia and at Mississippi State in consecutive weeks before hosting Florida and then going to Ole Miss. LSU then plays at Alabama on Nov. 9 and will end the season at home against Texas A&M and Arkansas.
Florida's usual late-season games against South Carolina and Vanderbilt are back and will be played in mid-November. The Georgia-South Carolina game has also been moved back toward the beginning of the season (Sept. 7).
Alabama
gets Ole Miss at home for the second straight year and will play
Kentucky (Oct. 12) and Tennessee (Oct. 26) from the East. That means no
Florida, Georgia or South Carolina for the second straight year for the
Crimson Tide.
We also won't see those permanent rivalries that were discussed earlier this year. There's no Arkansas-Missouri or South Carolina-Texas A&M. Maybe one day. I was asked today what were the top ten greatest games that I've been to in Tiger Stadium since I begin attending games in 1970. If you can think of others that were better than these I'd love to hear about them.
1) 1979 vs USC - My first game as an LSU student. Lost to #1 USC in final seconds. We stood and stomped the metal bleachers the entire game.
2) 1972 vs Ole Miss - Bert Jones to Brad Davis for TD to win. Can still see the referee hesitate before raising his arms signaling TD after Davis kicked the pylon.
3) 1970 vs Ole Miss - Dropped Archie Manning for a safety and childhood hero Casanova scored two punt return TD's
4) 1997 vs Florida - Beat #1 Florida and the much hated Darth Visor.
5) 2007 vs Florida - The 4th down game.Incredibly intense game.
6) 1988 vs Auburn - The Earthquake Game - LSU had zero offense the entire game until the final drive to win it.
6) 2003 vs Georgia - Long TD pass to Skyler Green in final minute wins the game.
7) 2007 vs Auburn - TD Pass from Flynn to Byrd with one second left wins the game.
8) 1982 vs Florida St. Needed a win to go to the Orange Bowl. Hilliard and James ran wild. Fans pelted field with oranges as an eerie fog rolled into the stadium at games end.
10) 2000 vs Tennessee - Won in overtime on a gutsy pass call to the endzone on first down from the 25 yardline. Saban's first signature victory.

LSU and Texas A&M will meet for the 51st time on Saturday, when the Tigers travel to Kyle Field for the first time since 1995 to battle the Aggies. These two proud schools may be new SEC rivals, but obviously LSU and Texas A&M are very familiar historically and on the recruiting trail.

The Tigers lead the all-time series 27-20-3, with the first game being played in 1899 and the last meeting in the Cotton Bowl at the conclusion of the 2010 season. Here are 10 statistical highlights focusing on the history between two teams with elite fan bases and tradition.
1 – Common head coach between the schools, the legendary Dana X. Bible. Many Texas A&M fans know his name well, but College Football Hall of Famer coached at LSU for three games in 1916, going 1-0-2. Bible would leave for College Station the next year and would compile a 72-19-9 record in 100 games at the A&M helm. He also coached basketball and baseball at the school, and Bible would go on to lead the Nebraska and Texas programs as well.
446 – Total yards for LSU in the 2011 Cotton Bowl, a 41-24 win over Texas A&M in the last meeting between these programs. Running backs Stevan Ridley and Spencer Ware both topped the 100-yard mark for the Tigers, while Jordan Jefferson tossed three touchdown passes. Many college football pundits predicted this would be LSU coach Les Miles last game as head coach because of the Michigan vacancy, but the Mad Hatter stayed in Baton Rouge and led the Tigers to an SEC championship last year.
33 – Games in this series played in Baton Rouge. LSU holds the advantage in those contests, 22-10-1. Only nine of the 51 games have been played in College Station, with the Aggies going 7-1-1 at home. The Tigers lead in eight neutral-site games by a 4-3-1 mark.
