Week 8 Fearless Prediction & Game Analysis– LSU at Texas A&M | |||
LSU (6-1) at Texas A&M (5-1) Oct. 20, 12:00, ESPN Here’s The Deal: It seems like such a natural matchup with the potential to become a major SEC rivalry. College Station and Baton Rouge are about 350 miles and six hours apart, making it easy for the two programs to play each other on a regular basis up until 1995. The last meeting came in the 2011 Cotton Bowl – a 41-24 LSU win – and now this could grow into something bigger and more meaningful. Texas A&M, LSU is one of the league’s biggest threats to poach on the Houston area recruiting turf, and for the Tigers, the Aggies represent a dangerous threat to add to the other landmines that need to be dealt with on a weekly basis. Both teams are still in the thick of the SEC and national title chases with battles still ahead with Alabama and Mississippi State to deal with, and both are trying to find their footing after a few shaky and rough times over the last few weeks. LSU has had a hard time finding its offense, while the Aggie defense went bye-bye last week in a wild win over Louisiana Tech. For one, a win might set the tone for an interesting second half of the season, while the loser will have to. Read more...http://cfn.scout.com/2/ |

Dandy Don's LSU Sports Report
Good morning, Tiger Fans.
Last night I listened to the Les Miles Talk Show and enjoyed hearing Coach Miles talk about LSU's win last week and their upcoming battle against Texas A&M. Coach Miles started the show by praising the young players who stepped forward in last week's game, particularly offensive linemen Trai Turner and Vadal Alexander. I thought sure that later in the show someone would ask about the status of Josh Williford and Alex Hurst, but no one did. However, I heard that in Miles’ post practice interview he stated that Williford did not practice this week and is still recovering from his concussion. As for Hurst, I've heard that he is back at home in Tennessee, and yesterday Miles stated that he was unsure of the chances of him returning this year. With that in mind, I look for the same starting offensive line this Saturday as we saw against South Carolina.
As always, Coach Miles and Jim Hawthorne named the offensive play of the week before going to the phone lines. Hawthorne suggested Jeremy Hill’s 50-yard touchdown rush with 5:03 remaining in the game that gave LSU a two-score lhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?

By-the numbers: Texas A&M capable of taking down rejuvenated LSU
Wednesday, 17 October 2012By: Rene Nadeau
The 6th ranked LSU Tigers roll into College Station, Texas on Saturday for a date with the Texas A&M Aggies, following a nail-biter win over then 3rd ranked South Carolina. This weekend's matchup promises to be equally thrilling.
If you analyze the statistics, the Tigers are going to facing an opponent that is qualified to pull off the home upset. The Aggies are stocked with gamechangers on both sides of the ball.
Texas A&M is averaging an impressive 47 points per outing, tops in the SEC. LSU are 8th ranked producing 32 points per game.
The Tigers allow 14 points per game to opponents (4th) while A&M gives up 21.8 (6th).
In total offense department, the Aggies lead the conference averaging 543.7 yards. LSU is in the 8th slot and churns out 378.3 yards per game. Read more...http://www.sportsnola.

Game of the week: LSU at Texas A&M contasts old vs. new in SEC showdown
on October 17, 2012 at 4:09 PM, updated October 17, 2012 at 10:42 PM
At what could reasonably be called the halfway point in the season, Football Bowl Subdivision teams are on a pace to obliterate the season record for points set in 2007. That year, FBS teams averaged 28.4 points per game. This year, through week 7, they're averaging 29.8.

Texas A&M's freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel (2) will not get away with many scrambles against LSU as he did in 59-57 win at Louisiana Tech. AP/Kita K. Wright
What's going on is certainly a trend. But I think it's more than that. You have a bunch of schools outside of the SEC who are depending upon method rather than manpower to move the ball. That means a lot of empty sets, no huddle, matchup selection and vertical shots against defenses ill-equipped to defend all of the above. Read more...
