Who will be the new head football coach at LSU?

The drama is mounting along the bend of the Mississippi river at Louisiana State University affectionately known as The Old War Skule, beneath the old Oak, and Magnolias trees. That campus Hallowed Ground is all abuzz over the suspension that Les Miles will be replace as the head college football coach after Saturdays Night football game against Texas A&M.

Looks like those in charge are too focused on winning the press conference. This is exactly what I was afraid of.

How much will all this hope and change cost?? Glad I'm not paying for most of it. Bad timing on getting rid of Les in his buy out clause. Les will be laughing all the way to the bank.

@lostamer A net cost of $20 million to pay off Les and Jimbo's buyout, if he comes. It''s monopoly money to these guys. It took me a while to believe it because I can't imagine spending that much on this.

What about Mullen at State? Offensive minded, knows the SEC West. Wouldn't LSU be a step up for him?

Congratulations in advance to the TAF. Got exactly what they wanted. Got tired of getting ripped for having the minority opinion, so I'm done commenting about Miles until it's carved in stone. Just gonna sit back and eat my popcorn. Just wait until next season, if you think this month has been interesting...
And YES, GEAUX TIGERS. Win or lose, just put up some points on Chavis' defense.

brhornetgirl

A pretty pricey established SEC grade Def Coordinator will also have to be found under all these scenarios. I do realize that the boosters may not mind paying for that. Who are the candidates to join Jimbo in Baton Rouge?

brhornetgirl

We were also going to be fine without Chavis as I recall. We are talking about offensive coaches. What about the defense?

@brhornetgirl This is the WORST defense in 50 - 75 years!!!   ONLY  one game this year,  has this defense held an opponent  UNDER  20  points!!!!!   Penalties has cost this team and Defense has been BAD.   Hope for the BEST on Saturday  -  GEAUX TIGERS!!!

So based on all the obstacles in place, the opening at USC, the $$$, etc. It sounds like LSU is making the wrong move at the WRONG time.

Next week will be the most interesting in many a moon for Tiger fans. Fisher or Bust? There's always a chance Fisher will turn down the offer, so then what? I have to believe he's not the only candidate out there who would be an upgrade from Miles.

I have no issues with Fisher's coaching style or his recruiting prowess. My only issue with him is he will do anything to win, so we would win, but at what cost? Fisher would have probably kept Ryan Perreloux (Sp?  )on the team.

No one's mentioned Franklin. Any thoughts on him?

What about Patterson at TCU?   He runs a High Octane offense with RUNNING  &  always has a top defense.  I would rather LSU go after him than anyone else out there.   GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Jim Kleinpeter, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune

@lbirdie123 He's older and would split the fan base. He's done a nice job at TCU but boosters feel LSU can aim higher.

lbirdie123

@Jim Kleinpeter, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune @lbirdie123 Will ANY hire unite the fan base???   Is there anyone out there besides Jimbo with LSU ties and in a 'winning' program as a DC or OC?

Jim, if you are still watching the thread, you said and I quote "There's going to be a lot of openings when the open jobs are filled and a lot of moving around. But I see LSU as Jimbo or bust."

WHAT IS THE BUST SCENARIO ?
---------
karralum

@dapkat that means they want jimbo. LSU should do the complete opposite and hire someone like Navy coach.

@karralum @dapkat Yes I KNOW  they want Jimbo.....I asked for the BUST scenario meaning a NO from Jimbo and nada on the Navy coach. 66/36 record...I don't think so.
